St... more IntroductionTransitional-aged youths (17-to-24-years-old) are prone to mental-health problems. Students in higher education, especially medical students, are more exposed to stressors and thus need training to increase resilience. However, there have been limited mental-health strengthening modules specifically developed for medical students of transitional age, and none in Indonesia. This study intends to test the effectiveness of an online mental-health strengthening module in altering resilience.MethodsA pragmatic randomized trial with repeated measurements was employed to evaluate biopsychosocial outcomes of resilience. The intervention module was delivered in 4 weeks to 105 eligible students. Participants were divided into intervention group (n = 52) and control group (n = 53). Outcomes were measured in the 4th, 8th, and 12th weeks. Primary outcome was resilience level as measured by Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC). Perceived Stress Scale (PSS), Depression Anxiety St...

Data were derived from the 2002/2003 and 2007 Indonesia Demographic and Health Survey. Information from 12,191 singleton live-born infants aged 0-23 months was used to examine factors associated with delayed initiation of breastfeeding. Furthermore, information from 3,187 singleton live-born infants aged 0-5 months was used to identify factors associated with non-exclusive breastfeeding. Associations between potential predictors and study outcomes were examined using logistic regression. Our study found that infants from high household wealth-index had significantly increased odds of both delayed initiation and non-exclusive breastfeeding. Other factors associated with an increased odds of delayed initiation of breastfeeding included infants from Sumatera region (OR=1.64, 95% CI: 1.38-1.95), Caesarean-section deliveries (OR=1.84, 95% CI: 1.39-2.44) and deliveries in government-owned (OR=1.38, 95% CI: 1.08-1.76) and non-health facility (OR=1.20, 95% CI: 1.00-1.43). Other factors associated with an increased odds for non-exclusive breastfeeding included parents who were in the workforce (OR=1.37, 95% CI: 1.06-1.78) and mothers with obstetric complication at childbirth (OR=1.35, 95% CI: 1.05-1.74). However, the odds reduced for infants from Eastern Indonesia (OR=0.64, 95% CI: 0.49-0.85). Poor breastfeeding practices are associated with environmental, socio-economic, pregnancy-birthing characteristics and maternal health services factors. Efforts to promote breastfeeding practices should be conducted comprehensively to target population at risk for poor breastfeeding practices.

A survey of randomly selected households in each of the four villages was undertaken during the season of low prevalence of diarrhoeal disease (February-March 1989). A follow-up survey of the same households was conducted 6 months later to measure prevalence during the peak season. Twenty-three in-depth interviews were carried out with key persons in local villages. Observations on behaviour in the local food stalls were recorded. The results of the study indicate that 97% of the households report that they regularly boil their drinking water. However, 37% of the households regularly or occasionally mix boiled with unboiled water for drinking, or use unboiled water alone. The mixing of boiled with unboiled water is particularly frequent in the preparation of 'cold tea', a popular drink in households and food stalls. The occasional or regular use of unboiled water varies by ethnicity, education and literacy, and economic status. The use of unboiled water is associated with higher rates of childhood diarrhoeas in the households studied.

However, the effectiveness of such action is still in question. The ever-changing condition in the accident site and the community's readiness to encounter it requires their preparedness. This literature review aims to learn about the factors that influence decisions to report on emergency victims through the 119 call center from the previous study. These factors were obtained from searching in a number of journals from Scopus, ScienceDirect, and PubMed. Failure to report on victims can be affected by perception, knowledge, attitude, and ineffective preparedness in the community. The literature from this paper will come to the conclusion that the factors related to the act of reporting on victims become an important consideration. Communication, language, and technology have become the most critical factors that influence someone to report when they find victims. In the future, the direction and challenge of this study are to involve the community in emergency responses and to improve the communication and technology system to be more user-friendly.

Method: The study was quasi experimental with a control group design. The sample included high-risk pregnant women in 10 community health centers in Indonesia who were selected by consecutive sampling. The total sample included 66 women in both the intervention and the control groups. The high-risk pregnant women in the intervention group received nurses' assistance during the third trimester and until giving birth. Before and after the intervention, the knowledge, attitudes, and behavior of the women were measured. Results: The average scores for the knowledge, attitudes, and behavior of women in the intervention group increased. Differences were found in health care utilization between the two groups. All women in the intervention group received antenatal care during the third trimester more than once and were assisted by skilled health personnel during childbirth, while in the control group 10.6% of respondents were assisted by a paraji shaman (traditional birth attendant). All women in the intervention group accepted family planning, and the contraceptive choice varied. Conclusions: The assistance of community health nurses improves the knowledge, attitudes, and behavior of high-risk pregnant women and positively impacts the rate of health care utilization.

Limitation of activity in OA patients may result in a decline in the strength of quadriceps femoris muscles and thus further reduce mobility. Isometric exercise has been known to increase muscle strength, decrease pain, and improve knee function. Objective: To evaluate knee function measured by timed up-and-go test (TUGT) and stair-climbing test (SCT) as well as muscle strength in the fourth and sixth week after isometric exercise of quadriceps femoris muscles and the correlation between these variables. Methods: Female patients with OA underwent isometric exercise of quadriceps femoris muscles 3 times a week for 6 weeks. Muscle strength (measured by tensiometer cable) and knee function (measured by TUGT and SCT) were evaluated before and at week 4and 6 of the exercise. Results: Thirty fi ve female patients were recruited in this study. The majority of the patients (45.7%) were b...

In 2012, Maluku was one of the provinces in Indonesia with high unmet need compared to other regions. This study aimed to explore/examine the relationship between unmet need and socio-demographic characteristics. The data take from secondary data of National SocioEconomic Survey (Susenas) in 2015. The number of samples used in the analysis was 3.276 married women of reproductive age. The results showed that of all married women of childbearing age, 30.71% were women with unmet need and the highest level of unmet need was in the district of Southeast West Maluku. Then, 2.422 women who need family planning services divided into groups of met demand and unsatisfied need groups. Multivariable binary logistic regression showed that age group, the age at first marriage, the number of living children, child mortality experience and region simultaneously associated with the status of unmet need for family planning. However, education and work status were not related to the unmet need for family planning significantly. The dominant factor associated with unmet need status for family planning in women were the age at first marriage and region. Most of the reason respondents who did not use contraception were due to adverse side effects on unmet need for spacing and other ideas on the unmet need for limiting.
