A journey is viewed as an experience of a wanderer’s personal freedom, movement of culture in space: memory, myth. A journey acts as a kind of pilgrimage: a person goes on a journey in search of those moments when he can go beyond his personality, realize his potential, thus transforming himself into a different, more true and free self-consciousness. The article is devoted to a mental journey presented as an experiment in the acquisition of the meaning of life by a person, as an experience of philosophical self-reflection and gaining identity with oneself. An existential journey through the inner intelligible space is both an experience of person...

It shows that interpreting the meaning of erotic love as a way of overcoming death, as proposed by Vladimir Solovyov, largely determined not only the metaphysical inquiries, but also the personal life strategies of those who contributed to Russian Silver-Age culture. The author argues that familiarity with the autobiographies of philosophers and their lives is important for better understanding of the Russian philosophical tradition and appreciation of how this tradition was shaped by love-as-suffering, love-as-service, and love-as-friendship.

Beginning from the collapse of the USSR (1991) Russia has been forming a new post-Soviet Russian identity, a system of priority values aimed at strengthening the unity of the multinational , multi-confessional country with deep social and wealth inequalities. To understand what myth of the civil nation is taking shape in Russia today it is important to reveal the strengths and weaknesses of nationalism and to determine whether there is a difference between nationalism and patriotism, between civil and ethnic forms of nationalism 2 .

It covers the four phases of Soviet Nietzscheanism between 1920 and 1980, paying specific attention to the Soviet Nietzsche studies of the Stalin epoch. By making use of publications and archive materials, this article reconstructs the historical and logical formation of Nietzsche's negative image in post-revolutionary Russia that characterized him as an ideologist of imperialism and National Socialism. In addition to this, this article examines the facts impeding the process of Nietzsche's denazification in Russia.

A philosophical generation is a powerful intellectual pattern with its own optics, sets of problems, and methods of research. The author distinguishes six generations of philosophers living and working in Russia today. The specific nature of each philosophical generation is determined by its existential contribution to the philosophy of those close to each other in terms of their experience of discipleship and integration into formal and informal philosophical institutions, and by the commonality of their intellectual foundations. In the case of philosophical generations, this refers not only to the age of those “doing philosophy” but also to the emergence of a new attitude toward philosophy itself, to the production or mastery of new ideas and meanings, to new trends in the discussion of already familiar issues and phenomena, to a new social and cultural role for philosophy, to new general understanding of the world and of man, to a change in what is called “the philosophical way of life.” Studying philosophical generations is important for restoring the human context of philosophical development. The path of cognition from generational type to texts is no less important than the usual path from texts. Reading the history of philosophy as the history of generations of philosophy focuses scholars’ attention on personal connections within the philosophical community (both horizontal and vertical), which clarifies both the individual contribution of thinkers and the mutual influences that determine the birth and development of philosophical ideas.

For him, attaining spiritual freedom means overcoming existential anxiety about fate (to borrow Paul Tillich's term) on the way to comprehending God. Shestov's work is aimed at liberating man from the power of an extrinsic anonymous, objective order that consigns man to suffering here on earth. By correlating the interpretation of existential experience and the Bible Shestov arrives at his own religious-philosophical concept of freedom. The authors of this article examine three mythologemes that are fundamental to Shestov's philosophy of freedom: ''creation out of nothing'' (as the ultimate expression of dispensation), ''the Fall'' (as the metaphysical ground for irrationalism), and eschatological ''annulment of past evil'' (as the moral correlate of theistic voluntarism).

To understand the development and specificity of philosophical concepts, it is important to study the interpersonal, existential communication of authors within small philosophical communities and groups. The author considers friendly communication among the most essential interpersonal existential communications for the philosophical tradition. The trajectory of understanding friendship as the basic structure of human existence was set for centuries by Aristotle and Cicero. Since Montaigne, friendly communication has been seen as the source of philosophizing. Transcending the anthropological approach, Heidegger linked the phenomenon of friendship with the question of being. The article presents the phenomenon of friendship as an experience of voluntary freedom that makes a person. Friendship is understood as filia – love that gives a person integrity, making him/her what the person cannot be without hi...
