The educational environment, the social environment and the role of the family are important in m... more The educational environment, the social environment and the role of the family are important in making reading a habit that has an important place in individual, social and academic life. All of these factors are effective for individuals to see reading as a need and to show interest in reading. Reading habits can be developed and become permanent over time with both in-class and out-of-class activities in order to develop basic literacy and reading comprehension skills of individuals. In the literature, there are methods, techniques and models related to reading habits that can be used in and out of the class. In this study, it is aimed to determine and classify methods, techniques and models which improve reading habit and inform the teachers and families about how to use them. This is a review study. In order to collect data for the research, articles, postgraduate studies and books made in the last 50 years have been examined; The determined methods, techniques and models are examined under two main headings: in-class and out-of-class according to their applications and fields. At the end of the research, 32 methods, techniques and models were found to improve reading habits. 3 of these are individual techniques that can be used in the classroom; 5 of them are group techniques that can be used in the classroom; 24 of them are related to reading methods, techniques and models that are used outside of the classroom. Teachers, reading experts and families can use the appropriate ones to improve students' reading skills and habits.
