Quadriplegics are people who are the victims of partial or complete paralysis of both upper and lower limbs; this is often the cause of a spinal cord injury or a disease in the area around the neck. The design presented in this paper is based on the field of Human-Computer Interaction, in which the face features of the quadriplegic are used to give him/her the opportunity to realize his/her needs. The face gestures are transformed to electrical signals using python programming language and the well-known OpenCv library for image processing. Signals are furthermore transmitted to an Arduino Uno microcontroller, which gives the orders to the wheelchair to move according to the patient's wish. The design was evaluated and the results were analysed.

A number of theories including the mechanical and vascular models have been used to explain the pathogenesis of glaucoma. However, there is now increasing evidence of biochemical molecules which may play a part in it's causation. These biochemical mechanisms include the role of excitatory aminoacids, caspases, protein kinases, oxygen free radicals, nitric oxide, TNF-alpha, neurotrophins and metalloproteins. This paper reviews these new developments which form the biochemical basis of glaucomatous neural degeneration.

Arabic stemming algorithms can be ranked, according to three category, as root-based approach (ex. Khoja); stem-based approach (ex. Larkey); and statistical approach (ex. N-Garm). However, no stemming of this language is perfect: The existing stemmers have a low efficiency. In this paper, we introduce a new stemming technique for Arabic words that also solve the problem of the plural form of irregular nouns in Arabic language, which called broken plural. The proposed stem extractor provides very accurate results in comparisons with other algorithms.Consequently the search effectiveness improved.

The British HIV Association (BHIVA) recommends that HIV patients be asked about alcohol due to its effect on adherence to antiretroviral therapy. National Institute of Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) guidelines recommend screening for alcohol use disorders in patients attending genitourinary medicine (GUM) clinics. In this study we looked at the use of a screening tool for alcohol use disorders in HIV patients in a metropolitan city. We assessed HIV patients over a 6‐month period for alcohol use disorders using the AUDIT‐C questionnaire. Patients with a score >4 were identified as higher risk and provided with brief advice about alcohol and offered written information and support. Demographic data was collected along with hepatitis B and C status, information on sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing and diagnosis. 352 patients were reviewed with a mean age of 41. 297 (84.4%) patients were male, 235 (66.8%) were white British and 251 (71.3%) were men who have sex with men (MSM). 277 (78.7%) patients were on antiretroviral therapy with 254 (91.7%) of these having an undetectable viral load. Alcohol use disorders were assessed using the AUDIT‐C score in 332 (94.3%) patients with no patient declining assessment. 166 (50%) patients had an AUDIT‐C score >4 signifying higher risk. Alcohol advice was provided to 161 (97%) of these patients and a Drink Smart guide offering advice on alcohol self help offered to 103 (64%) patients and accepted by 45 (43.7%). An opportunistic STI screen was offered to 258 (73.3%) patients on that visit in line with best practice guidelines and was accepted by 83 (32.2%). 25 infections were found in 20 patients, of which 13 (65%) had AUDIT‐C scores >4. There were 8 active hepatitis C co‐infected patients of which 3 had an AUDIT‐C score >4 and 12 chronic hepatitis B co‐infected patients with 3 having an AUDIT‐C score >4. Our results show that screening for alcohol use disorders using the AUDIT‐C questionnaire has high acceptability among HIV patients; however the data is biased to Caucasian MSM. Alcohol use has been shown to exacerbate liver damage in patients with chronic hepatitis, increase the likelihood of STI acquisition and compromise immunity. It is therefore important to screen for and quantify alcohol use as part of routine HIV clinical practice.

Rhizobium strains, NC-92 was found to be less efficient as compared to TAL-1000; TAL-1371. Nodule dry mass and number of pods per plant were much higher than that of control treatment. Although a significant difference in growth and yield of both the varieties due to Rhizobium inoculation was observed but on average basis TAL-1000 and TAL-1371 gave significantly better response for both the varieties in improving growth and yield at all sites. Nevertheless, future prospects for groundnut production are good in Pakistan if the farmers are realized to practice inoculation technology in their fields.

We isolated a total of 51 Acinetobacter species from clinical and environmental samples from different wards and ICUs of Assiut University Hospitals. Biotyping of the isolates were done using API 20NE Index system which identified all clinical & environmental isolatesas Acinetobacter baumannii / calcoaceticus complex. Antimicrobial susceptibility testing was determined by Kirby Bauer disk diffusion method. The highest resistance was to penicillin derivatives (66.7% and 51.9% in clinical and environmental samples respectively). The lowest resistance was to tetracycline (20.8% and 29.6%) and imipenem (29.2% and 33.3% in clinical and environmental samples respectively). Phenotypic detection of Metallo-Blactamase (MBL) was done by double disc synergy test. All the imipenem resistant Acinetobacter baumannii strains isolated from clinical and environmental samples expressed MBL phenotypically. Molecular typing by PCR showed that 49 of Acinetobacter baumannii isolated from clinical and environmental samples had positive ITS of 602-622bp with an overall sequence similarity of more than96%.These methods supported a close relationship between clinical and environmental isolates and also indicated the important role of hospital environment in spread and transmissibility of multidrug resistant A. baumanii among hospitalized patients.

There were 15 treatment combinations for experiment-I having three plant densities, viz., one seedling hill-1 (PD 1), two seedlings hill-1 (PD 2) and three seedlings hill-1 (PD 3) and five nitrogen rates, viz., 0, (N 0); 50, (N 50); 100, (N 100); 150, (N 150); and 200 (N 200) kg N ha-1. Experiment-II also included 15 treatments having three plant densities, viz., one seedling hill-1 (PD 1), two seedlings hill-1 (PD 2) and three seedlings hill-1 (PD 3) and five irrigation regimes, viz., 62.5 cm (I 1), 77.5 cm (I 2), 92.5 cm (I 3), 107.5 cm (I 4), and 122.5 cm (I 5). A randomized complete block design (RCBD) was employed with three repetitions. The results for experiment-I revealed that the highest biomass (1438 g m-2), grain yield (497 g m-2), crop growth rate (15.36 g m-2 d-1), net assimilation rate (4.24 g m-2 d-1) were observed in the treatment having combination of two seedlings hill-1 and 200 kg N ha-1 (PD 2 N 200). The agronomic and economic nitrogen and PAR use efficiencies were also higher in this treatment. In case of experiment-II, the highest biomass and grain yield were obtained in case of treatment having combination of two seedlings hill-1 and 107.5 cm irrigation regime (PD 2 I 107.5). The irrigation application based water productivity ranged from 0.36 kg mm-3 to 0.61 kg mm-1 , irrigation plus precipitation based water productivity ranged from 0.32 kg mm-3 to 0.55 kg mm-3 and evapotranspiration based water productivity ranged from 0.65 kg mm-3 to 0.84 kg mm-3 among 15 treatments combination of plant density and irrigation regimes. This study concludes that for increasing the benefits for the resource-poor growers, the integration of crop management practices is an optimum strategy to substantially increase the resources use efficiency under irrigated semiarid environment.

It is generally recognized that the main causes leading to the contamination of insulators are marine pollution-found in the immediate neighborhood of the coastal regions and solid pollution-found in the dense industrial areas. This research is directed towards the study of contamination of insulator under marine pollution. The effects of various meteorological factors on the pollution severity have been investigated thoroughly. In the present paper an attempt has been made to estimate the pollution severity under various weather conditions using Artificial Neural Network. A new approach using ANN as a function estimator has been developed and used to model accurately the relationship between ESDD with temperature T, humidity H, pressure P, rainfall R and wind velocity WV.
