The research used a qualitative approach to the case study method with the subject as many as 3 students of class VII of one of the state junior high schools in Karawang district, using tests in the form of questions to describe their problem-solving abilities, self-confidence questionnaires and interviews. The data analysis technique used data reduction, display data, and conclusion drawing or verification. This study aims to describe the mathematical communication skills of junior high school students ... more This study aims to describe the mathematical communication skills of junior high school students in solving triangular and quadrilateral problems. The qualitative descriptive method was used in collecting data on the results of the mathematical communication skills test, as well as the results of interviews with six class VIII student respondents in a junior high school in Karawang district. Data analysis was used through four stages, namely collecting data from tests and interviews, then categorizing and simplifying them. So that data can be obtained in accordance with the research objectives to get the right conclusions. The results of this study indicate that the students' mathematical communication skills on indicators of written texts and drawing of students are not able to solve problems according to procedures. Whereas in the mathematical expression indicator the students were able to solve the problem according to the procedure, but there were mistakes in answering the questions. Then it can be conclude that the level of student's mathematical communication ability is still relatively low.

This quasi-experimental study took all of students in one private of MTs in Purwasari-Karawang as population. Two classes of experiment class (problem solving approach) were selected for 28 students, and control class (conventional learning) of 30 students. Quantitative data analysis uses SPSS 17 for windows. The results showed that the the implementation of mathematics learning process with problem solving approach is quite effective.The achievement of students' mathematical creative thinking ability using problem solving approach is not better than students who use conventional learning. There is no difference in the ability of mathematical creative thinking as well as students' thinking habits in both learning groups.

Subsequently, puzzle games in the form of questions can improve problem-solving skills by engaging in metacognitive processes. This research used a case study method to describe the impact of applying the DPW to identify the metacognition levels of students through the assignment of contextual maths problems. The source of informants was third-grade elementary school students in West Java, Indonesia. Test instruments, observation sheets, and interviews were used, while data analysis adopted an iterative model. Furthermore, the method and time triangulation increased confidence in the resulting conclusions. In mathematic context, teachers can make use of interactive puzzle media as one of the digital tools that may stimulate activeness, mathematical understanding, and fun math learning for students. The purpose of this study is therefore to unearth the students’ reception during mathematics instruction using the media. This descriptive qualitative research involved 30 first graders of elementary school in West Java, Indonesia and employed questionnaire, interview, and video-based observation to collect the data.
