Abnormal perm-selectivity of the glomerular basement membrane (GBM) plays an important role in the pathogenesis of DN [3, 4]. The glomerular basement membrane (GBM) consists mainly of laminin, type IV collagen, and heparan sulfate proteoglycans (HSPGs).
