The solutions are equivalent to each other in the sense that they produce the same scattered field if no approximations are made. When we do make approximations these solutions give rise to the so-called physical-optics solution and the image-induction solution and do not yield the same calculated projection data. Nevertheless, our derivations show that, for the general bistatic case, the two solutions produce inverse scattering equations of the same form. Thus when experimental data are used for reconstructing image, it does not matter whether the reconstruction is based on the physical-optics solution or the image-induction solution. Both solutions give the same image.
