The purpose of this study is to explain the experiences of mothers regarding the spiritual well-being of their child during pregnancy. In a qualitative study, with purposive and easy sampling, 48 semistructured and in-depth interviews were conducted with 39 women who were pregnant or had recent experience of successful pregnancy. Data analysis was done using a conventional content analysis approach. The results showed that Iranian mothers were trying to protect the spiritual health of their unborn child during pregnancy by interacting with God, avoiding sin and forbidden food, and improving their behavior and verbal and nonverbal communication with the fetus. According to the findings, the health of unborn child, like its mother may be affected by physical, mental, social, and spiritual aspects. Much more research is needed.

Nowadays, behavioral approaches, such as exercise programs, and herbal therapies are recommended to control menopause complications. Objective: This study aimed to compare the effects of exercise and licorice on the QoL of postmenopausal women. Materials and Methods: This quasi-experimental study was conducted in Arak City, Iran, in 2014. Sixty postmenopausal women were selected as study participants using the convenience sampling method and were divided into two equal groups (exercise and licorice) using a random number table. The licorice group received three tablets of licorice daily at three times, i.e., in the morning, noon, and night before meals, for 4 weeks; the exercise group adopted a regular walking program comprising 30-45 min of walking three times a week for 1 month. The QoL of the participants before and 1 month after the intervention was evaluated using the Menopause-Specific Quality of Life questionnaire. The obtained data were analyzed using the independent t-test, Wilcoxon signed-rank test, one-way analysis of variance, and Mann-Whitney U test. Results: The two groups were matched in term of demographic characteristics. The Mann-Whitney U test revealed no significant difference in the QoL between the two groups before and after the intervention. However, the mean and standard deviation of the QoL in both groups was higher after the intervention than the values before the intervention. Conclusion: Licorice and aerobic exercise are effective in controlling menopause complications and improving the QoL. Therefore, these interventions should be adopted to improve the QoL of postmenopausal women.

Considering specific role of massage with natural oils, we studied the effect of massage with sesame oil on infant anthropometric measurements and their sleep pattern. Method: This clinical-trial study was performed on 150 two months healthy infants who were referred to the health care centers in Arak city. Samples were randomly divided into one of the following groups: massage with sesame oil, massage only and no massage. In sesame oil group, mothers performed massages on whole of their infant body for a period of 10 minutes, two times per day for 4 weeks. In solely massage group, the method was the same as previous group, but without oil. No massage was done in control group. Anthropometric measurements and sleep pattern were evaluated before and after the interventions and data were analyzed using Chi-square, ANOVA, Kroskal-Wallis and Post-Hoc tests. Results: At the beginning of the study, anthropometric measurements did not show significant difference between groups. After 4 weeks, the average increase in infant weight in sesame oil, solely massage and control group were 1076.23±273.12, 965.24±310.12, 686.14±220.92, respectively (P<0.001). Mean increased duration of sleep in massage groups was significantly higher in massage groups than control group (P<0.001). Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, it seems that infant massage, particularly massage with sesame oil can lead to increased weight and improved sleep pattern. It may have positive effect on infants' heights in a longer time.

Scientist believed that prophylactic antibiotic administration around the time of inserting IUD significantly reduces the risk of IUD related pelvic inflammatory disease (PID). This study is designed to investigate the effect of prophylactic antibiotic on pelvic inflammatory disease associated with IUD insertion. Materials and Methods: This is a randomized clinical trial. A total of 500 prospective IUD (TCU-380A) users were randomly assigned in two groups. The first group received 200 mg of Doxycycline one hour before IUD insertion and the second did not. Then, 20 days after IUD insertion, the two groups were examined for PID. Data was analyzed using Mann-Whitney and Chi square tests. Results: The mean of age, gravida, para, live children and abortion in case and control groups were not statistically significant. The rate of PID was 2.1% in case group compared to 1.9% in control group, which was not statistically significant. Vaginal infection in control group was more than case group but not significant. Conclusion: We concluded that the use of prophylactic antibiotic did not have a significant effect on preventing IUD induced PID. Regarding the side effects of unnecessary antibiotic consumption it is suggested to reinforce the need for implementing aseptic techniques during IUD insertion.

There are no studies available on relationship between premenstrual syndrome with body mass index in Iran. This study aimed to determine this relationship among university students. Methods & Materials: This was a cross-sectional study conducted on a random sample of 500 students living in the dorms of Arak University of Medical Sciences. The participants had not stress, anxiety and severe depression on the basis of the DASS21. Data were gathered using Social Status Questionnaire, including demographic, menstrual status, reproductive and eating habits and body mass index measurement items. The participants completed the abbreviated form of premenstrual syndrome evaluation within seven days of bleeding up to two days after onset of bleeding for one cycle. Using logistic regression analysis, the association was assessed by adjusting for confounding variables. Results: A majority of the students had normal BMI (<25) (90.8%). The results showed that the risk of premenstrual syndrome in the participants with high BMI was 2.43 times more than the participants with normal BMI (OR=2.43; CI=8.33-1.66). Conclusion: High BMI increased the risk of premenstrual syndrome. Interventions to decrease the BMI should be designed and implemented in overweight and obese patients with premenstrual syndrome.

The risk of brain injuries that potentially cause Cerebral Palsy has amplified with increasing in survival rates for preterm infants. In addition Cerebral Palsy has a huge economic impact, to immeasurable health, social, and psychological problems that affected children and their families suffer. Cerebral Palsy, among 18 common congenital disorders, has the highest lifetime costs per new case. Thus, efforts to prevent its occurrence, minimize the morbidity, and improve the patient outcomes are important at both the individual and societal levels. In each trimester, different patterns of brain damage or abnormal insults can represent times and etiology of injuries. Knowledge of the etiology and pathogenesis of abnormal brain growth during antenatal, perinatal and neonatal damages can be helping us for prevention. Also Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) studies of subjects with multiple forms of cerebral palsy reported significantly more overall abnormalities, malformations, and white matter damage but in this review study we discuss in what extent MRI is useful in detecting cerebral palsy pathogenesis.
