The proposed model provides a complete stability analysis compared to the Markovian models. Moreover, it provides a means for conducting further analysis on the design parameters of the protocol, leading to an optimization methodology which indicates how IEEE 802.11p should be configured for improved performance. The model is cross validated against simulations; the IEEE 802.11p can meet the needed latency and reliability requirements for the delivery of safety messages under the Finite user model, however, it fails to satisfy such requirements under the Infinite user model.
Seeds of Egyptian cotton, cv.86 were dressed with Rizolex, Monceren 25% and 47%, stored for 0.5 t... more Seeds of Egyptian cotton, cv.86 were dressed with Rizolex, Monceren 25% and 47%, stored for 0.5 to 5.0 months, grown in naturally and artificially infested soils in conditioned and unconditioned greenhouse. Laboratory studies showed that the oil acid value tended to increase by using seed dressing fungicides, and the lowest value was obtained from seed stored for one month, application of seed dressing produced a slight increase in the oil refractive. Results of conditioned greenhouse were best than those of the unconditioned greenhouse for the infested and non-infested soil. Monceren 47% was the best in unconditioned greenhouse for both infested or non-infested soil. While Rizolex gave the best results for most values of conditioned greenhouse for infested or non-infested soil. Stored treated seeds for 0.5 to 1.5 month before seeded in infested soil improved emergence percentage and induced control of seed decay, and there was inversely proportional between post-emergence infection and storage period. A negative significant correlation coefficient was found between preemergence damping-off and seedling vigor in both natural field soil and infested soil, in unconditioned greenhouse. While, a significant positive correlation was observed between seedling vigor and each of survival%, plant height and dry weight/plant in all conditions except in infested soil when seeded under conditioned greenhouse.
Vehicle-to-anything (V2X) refers to an Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) where the vehicles... more Vehicle-to-anything (V2X) refers to an Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) where the vehicles and infrastructure systems are all interconnected with each other. This connectivity provides precise knowledge of the traffic situations across the entire road network which in turn helps to enhance traffic safety, reduce congestion time, avoid economic losses, in addition to enable a variety of novel ITS applications for road safety and passenger infotainment. V2X communications is based on two technologies; Dedicated Short-Range Communications (DSRC) which is an essential technology for realizing V2X and cellular networks which provide an off-the-shelf potential solution for V2X communications. Although the research community has achieved much great progress on V2X study, there are still some challenges that need to be overcome and some key issues that need to be further investigated. This thesis considers two of the most prominent issues; reliability and security of V2X communications. From the reliability perspective, we first propose User Model-based Method to evaluate the capacity of IEEE 802.11p-based DSRC standard to meet the Quality-of-Service (QoS) requirements of safety messages dissemination. The novelty of the method lies in its application which avoids the problem of defining a Markovian model by determining the steady state moments of the induced delay process. This applicability feature provides important insights about IEEE 802.11p design parameters and its functionality leading to proposed reconfigurations for enhanced performance. Moreover, we propose Regenerative model, that we believe to be the first to address the problem of interconnected-traffic process characterization in large-scale hybrid V2X networks. The latter is a primary concern in achieving efficient and adequate operability for large-scale vehicular networks. From the security perspective, we introduce a new optimization methodology which ties the QoS requirements of different application classes with the basic design parameters of the contention resolution mechanism in IEEE 802.11p MAC protocol. In addition, a novel detection algorithm for jamming attacks in the vehicular environment is proposed. The algorithm utilizes the developed optimization methodology to define a detection threshold. By integrating the sequential detection of change method it traces and detects jamming attacks whenever the threshold value is crossed. Analytical and simulation experimentations have been performed for each contribution to show the validity of the proposed methods/models and to prove their efficiency.

The aim of the present study was to examine the formation of in vitro granuloma induced by Schistosoma mansoni soluble egg antigen (SEA) after neutralization of IL-17 using Anti-IL-17 antibody. Peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) were isolated from 20 S. mansoni monoinfected, 50 S. mansoni/Hepatitis C virus (HCV) coinfected patients and 25 healthy individuals. The isolated PBMCs were used for in vitro granuloma induction using S. mansoni SEA conjugated polyacrylamide beads. Different concentrations of Anti-IL-17 (0.5, 1, 2 or 4 ng/ml) were added to the cultured granuloma at the first day then the sizes of granuloma were assessed by granuloma index (GI) after 3, 7 or 14 days. Results revealed that, Anti-IL-17 at a concentration of 2 ng/ml optimally reduced the GI of the granuloma formed using PBMCs isolated from S. mansoni monoinfected, S. mansoni/HCV coinfected patients or healthy individuals after all the experimental time intervals. In conclusion, IL-17 blocking with the neutralizing Anti-IL-17 antibody promotes a marked reduction in the sizes of granuloma induced by S. mansoni SEA.

Vehicle-to-anything (V2X) is a promising communication technology to support operability in large... more Vehicle-to-anything (V2X) is a promising communication technology to support operability in large-scale vehicular networks. The future deployment of V2X necessitates interworking between different access technologies, i.e., Dedicated Short-Range Communications (DSRC) and Cellular networks. However to achieve an efficient V2X interworking, we need to resolve the multi-hop issue, mainly originating from the V2X hybrid architecture. To resolve this issue and consequently to analyze the interconnected system, characterizing the output process of IEEE 802.11p-based DSRC protocol is of a fundamental importance. This paper proposes stochastic Regenerative Model to provide a complete description of IEEE 802.11p output process. The accuracy of the model is verified through extensive simulations. As a case study, the proposed model is compared with the Poisson model in the performance evaluation of V2X interworking. Numerical and simulation results verify the ability of the Regenerative Model to capture the deviations of the actual output process of IEEE 802.11p under different traffic intensity as compared to the Poisson model.

Generally, the synthetic adsorbents from raw and waste materials have a significant attention from scientists because the environmental concern and economic development, particularly, the uranium elimination from radioactive waste solutions. The uranium removal percentage and loading capacity were determined by optimization the conditions of adsorption such as the pH range, adsorbent/adsorbate ratio, uranium concentration of radioactive waste solutions, equilibrium time and temperature. The resultant adsorption efficiency and loading capacity were 87.2% and 375 mg g−1, respectively. Background: Pollen and pollen products have a long history of use in traditional herbal medicine ... more Background: Pollen and pollen products have a long history of use in traditional herbal medicine and have been reported to display a wide range of antimicrobial, antioxidative, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and hepatoprotective activities. This study aimed to investigate the role of date palm pollen (DPP) ethanolic extract on the formation of granuloma induced by Schistosoma mansoni soluble egg antigen (SEA) in vitro. Methodology: Peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) were isolated from 20 S. mansoni monoinfected, 50 Hepatitis C virus/S. mansoni coinfected patients and 25 healthy individuals. The isolated PBMCs were used for in vitro granuloma induction using SEA conjugated polyacrylamide beads. Different concentrations of DPP ethanolic extract (10 mg/mL, 20 mg/mL, 30 mg/mL, and 40 mg/mL) were added to the granuloma at the first day, then the sizes of granulomas were measured by granuloma index (GI) that was assessed by quantitation of cellular reactivity around the beads after 3, 7, and 14 days. Results: Treatment of granuloma induced by SEA conjugated polyacrylamide beads with the optimum concentration of DPP ethanolic extract (30 mg/mL) resulted in significant (P < 0.05) reduction of GI using PBMCs isolated from Schistosoma monoinfected, hepatitis C virus/Schistosoma coinfected patients or healthy individuals at all the experimental time intervals. Conclusion: DPP suppressed the effect of SEA and prevented granuloma formation. The results of the present study suggest that DPP could be considered a promising source of new natural anti-inflammatory herbal medicine against the S. mansoni associated granulomatous inflammation.

An identification algorithm of internal parameters of a photovoltaic cell using electrical characteristics provided by the manufacturer datasheet has been suggested. Several of these parameters are not always provided by the manufacturer. Moreover, influences and variation effects of the temperature and the effective irradiance level has been studied for the proposed models. Obtained simulations have been compared to those provided by JAC M5SF-2 cell’s datasheet. These models has been implemented on Matlab-Simulink and Simpower softwares. While gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is common in Middle Eastern countries, little data e... more While gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is common in Middle Eastern countries, little data exists on the epidemiology of Barrett’s esophagus (BE). We aimed to determine the prevalence of BE among patients undergoing esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) in a cohort of Saudi patients. We retrospectively reviewed the endoscopy database at an academic tertiary care center. Consecutive adult patients who underwent an EGD for any indication between May 2014 and December 2018 were included. The prevalence of both endoscopically and histologically reported BE was determined. Multivariate regression analysis was used to identify factors associated with BE. A total of 2805 patients were included. The mean age was 48 years (± 18.6) and 38.7% were male patients. BE was reported endoscopically in 18 (0.64%) and confirmed histologically in 9 patients (0.32%). Among patients with endoscopically reported BE, the mean age was 50.3 (± 16.1) years and 13 (72.2%) were male patients. Of patients with BE, short-segment BE was reported in 14 (77.8%) patients. Among the 9 patients with histologically confirmed BE; only one patient had dysplastic BE. On univariate analysis, BE was associated with male gender (p < 0.01), but not with age > 50, hiatal hernia, obesity or EGD performed for GERD related indications. On multivariate regression analysis, male gender was the only factor associated with BE (aOR 3.77, 95% CI 1.39–11.97, p = 0.01). BE was endoscopically reported in 0.64% and histologically confirmed in 0.32% of this cohort of Saudi patients. Male gender was the only factor associated with BE.

Metodi L'attività iniziale di valutazione per l'idoneità al trapianto è cominciata diversi mesi prima dell'avvio dell'attività chirurgica e riguardava principalmente i pazienti, seguiti dalla nostra UO Nefrologia e Dialisi, già in studio o precedentemente iscritti presso altri Centri Trapianti regionali o extraregionali. Con l'avvio dell'attività di trapianto, abbiamo, poi, osservato un aumento di richieste di valutazione e inserimento in lista da altre Nefrologie e/o Centri Dialisi laziali e/o extraregionali e abbiamo offerto la possibilità di eseguire anche gli esami strumentali basali e obbligatori a quei pazienti che non avevano potuto eseguirli presso la propria Nefrologia di provenienza. All'inizio dell'attività, la maggior parte dei pazienti valutati presentava un basso profilo di rischio complessivo e un'età anagrafica contenuta. In seguito, però, l'aumento del numero di richieste ha prodotto l'emergere di una serie di problematiche cliniche, spesso non risolte dalle stesse Nefrologie di provenienza. The rotor flux orientation strategy tends to give true decoupling control, where the control reference frame rotates at synchronous speed and is held by the rotor flux. Simulation results show that the machine presents a high dynamic performance similar to those of DC machines. This approach presents a problem, however, when we consider the impact of parameter uncertainties on the machine dynamics. Thanks to its insensitivity with respect to the parametric variations, the sliding mode control was adapted to overcome this drawback.

From the latter, the remaining two metal values; namely V and Lns were left behind in the spent residue. The latter represents the feed material of the present work for V (1050 ppm) and Lns (649 ppm) recovery. The work involves selective leaching process for V using alkali breakdown with Sodium hydroxide (NaOH) followed by its precipitation asV 2 O 5. The Lanthanides (Lns) left behind was then leached by using sulfuric acid followed by its precipitation as a highly pure Lns oxalate.

Transplantation of kidneys retrieved from expanded criteria donors is one of the options to expan... more Transplantation of kidneys retrieved from expanded criteria donors is one of the options to expand the pool of available grafts, shorten the waiting time and increase the number of kidney transplant recipients. This study was a retrospective assessment of 99 patients who underwent renal transplantation during the period 2007e2015 with kidneys harvested from expanded criteria donors (ECD) as defined by the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) following routine biopsy of all kidneys obtained by Karpinsky Score. They formed two groups: SKT (67 recipients that received a single kidney) and DKT (32 patients that received dual kidney transplant). An analysis of differences of two groups between graft and patient survival and graft function were performed after 8 years of observation. We observed between two groups the following statistical differences: Donor age (P < .001), basal high risk of recipients (P < .05), wait time before transplant (P < .05), recipient age (P < .001) delayed graft function (P < .005) while we observe similar values of donor renal function, outcome in graft and patient survival and graft function in recipients. The transplantation of kidneys obtained from expanded criteria donor, allows increase in the number of kidney transplants and in the respect of values of biopsy score and the donor renal function, showed in single or dual kidney transplantation with similar graft and patient survival.

This paper proposes stochastic Regenerative Model to provide a complete description of IEEE 802.11p output process. The accuracy of the model is verified through extensive simulations. As a case study, the proposed model is compared with the Poisson model in the performance evaluation of V2X interworking. Numerical and simulation results verify the ability of the Regenerative Model to capture the deviations of the actual output process of IEEE 802.11p under different traffic intensity as compared to the Poisson model.

Generally, the synthetic adsorbents from raw and waste materials have a significant attention from scientists because the environmental concern and economic development, particularly, the uranium elimination from radioactive waste solutions. The uranium removal percentage and loading capacity were determined by optimization the conditions of adsorption such as the pH range, adsorbent/adsorbate ratio, uranium concentration of radioactive waste solutions, equilibrium time and temperature. The resultant adsorption efficiency and loading capacity were 87.2% and 375 mg g−1, respectively. Background: Pollen and pollen products have a long history of use in traditional herbal medicine ... more Background: Pollen and pollen products have a long history of use in traditional herbal medicine and have been reported to display a wide range of antimicrobial, antioxidative, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and hepatoprotective activities. This study aimed to investigate the role of date palm pollen (DPP) ethanolic extract on the formation of granuloma induced by Schistosoma mansoni soluble egg antigen (SEA) in vitro. Methodology: Peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) were isolated from 20 S. mansoni monoinfected, 50 Hepatitis C virus/S. mansoni coinfected patients and 25 healthy individuals. The isolated PBMCs were used for in vitro granuloma induction using SEA conjugated polyacrylamide beads. Different concentrations of DPP ethanolic extract (10 mg/mL, 20 mg/mL, 30 mg/mL, and 40 mg/mL) were added to the granuloma at the first day, then the sizes of granulomas were measured by granuloma index (GI) that was assessed by quantitation of cellular reactivity around the beads after 3, 7, and 14 days. Results: Treatment of granuloma induced by SEA conjugated polyacrylamide beads with the optimum concentration of DPP ethanolic extract (30 mg/mL) resulted in significant (P < 0.05) reduction of GI using PBMCs isolated from Schistosoma monoinfected, hepatitis C virus/Schistosoma coinfected patients or healthy individuals at all the experimental time intervals. Conclusion: DPP suppressed the effect of SEA and prevented granuloma formation. The results of the present study suggest that DPP could be considered a promising source of new natural anti-inflammatory herbal medicine against the S. mansoni associated granulomatous inflammation.

An identification algorithm of internal parameters of a photovoltaic cell using electrical characteristics provided by the manufacturer datasheet has been suggested. Several of these parameters are not always provided by the manufacturer. Moreover, influences and variation effects of the temperature and the effective irradiance level has been studied for the proposed models. Obtained simulations have been compared to those provided by JAC M5SF-2 cell’s datasheet. These models has been implemented on Matlab-Simulink and Simpower softwares. We aimed to determine the prevalence of BE among patients undergoing esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) in a cohort of Saudi patients. We retrospectively reviewed the endoscopy database at an academic tertiary care center. Consecutive adult patients who underwent an EGD for any indication between May 2014 and December 2018 were included. The prevalence of both endoscopically and histologically reported BE was determined. Multivariate regression analysis was used to identify factors associated with BE. A total of 2805 patients were included. The mean age was 48 years (± 18.6) and 38.7% were male patients. BE was reported endoscopically in 18 (0.64%) and confirmed histologically in 9 patients (0.32%). Among patients with endoscopically reported BE, the mean age was 50.3 (± 16.1) years and 13 (72.2%) were male patients. Of patients with BE, short-segment BE was reported in 14 (77.8%) patients. Among the 9 patients with histologically confirmed BE; only one patient had dysplastic BE. On univariate analysis, BE was associated with male gender (p < 0.01), but not with age > 50, hiatal hernia, obesity or EGD performed for GERD related indications. On multivariate regression analysis, male gender was the only factor associated with BE (aOR 3.77, 95% CI 1.39–11.97, p = 0.01). BE was endoscopically reported in 0.64% and histologically confirmed in 0.32% of this cohort of Saudi patients. Male gender was the only factor associated with BE.

Metodi L'attività iniziale di valutazione per l'idoneità al trapianto è cominciata diversi mesi prima dell'avvio dell'attività chirurgica e riguardava principalmente i pazienti, seguiti dalla nostra UO Nefrologia e Dialisi, già in studio o precedentemente iscritti presso altri Centri Trapianti regionali o extraregionali. Con l'avvio dell'attività di trapianto, abbiamo, poi, osservato un aumento di richieste di valutazione e inserimento in lista da altre Nefrologie e/o Centri Dialisi laziali e/o extraregionali e abbiamo offerto la possibilità di eseguire anche gli esami strumentali basali e obbligatori a quei pazienti che non avevano potuto eseguirli presso la propria Nefrologia di provenienza. All'inizio dell'attività, la maggior parte dei pazienti valutati presentava un basso profilo di rischio complessivo e un'età anagrafica contenuta. In seguito, però, l'aumento del numero di richieste ha prodotto l'emergere di una serie di problematiche cliniche, spesso non risolte dalle stesse Nefrologie di provenienza. Ciò ci ha indotto ad attivare dei percorsi specialistici interaziendali per poter affrontare tali problematiche nel minor tempo possibile. The rotor flux orientation strategy tends to give true decoupling control, where the control reference frame rotates at synchronous speed and is held by the rotor flux. Simulation results show that the machine presents a high dynamic performance similar to those of DC machines. This approach presents a problem, however, when we consider the impact of parameter uncertainties on the machine dynamics. Thanks to its insensitivity with respect to the parametric variations, the sliding mode control was adapted to overcome this drawback.

From the latter, the remaining two metal values; namely V and Lns were left behind in the spent residue. The latter represents the feed material of the present work for V (1050 ppm) and Lns (649 ppm) recovery. The work involves selective leaching process for V using alkali breakdown with Sodium hydroxide (NaOH) followed by its precipitation asV 2 O 5. The Lanthanides (Lns) left behind was then leached by using sulfuric acid followed by its precipitation as a highly pure Lns oxalate.
Vehicle-to-anything (V2X) is a promising communication technology, which expected to revolutionis... more Vehicle-to-anything (V2X) is a promising communication technology, which expected to revolutionise the ground transportation system by improving traffic safety and efficiency for people on roads. The future deployment of V2X requires interworking between different access technologies, i.e. dedicated short-range communications (DSRCs) and cellular networks. However, to achieve an efficient V2X interworking, the authors need to resolve the multi-hop issue, mainly originating from the V2X hybrid architecture. To resolve this issue and consequently to enhance the interconnected system, characterising the output process of IEEE 802.11p-based DSRC medium access control protocol is of a fundamental importance. This study proposes regenerative model to provide a complete description of IEEE 802.11p output process. The accuracy of the model is verified through extensive simulations. As a case study, the proposed model is compared with Poisson model in the performance evaluation of V2X interworking. Transplantation of kidneys retrieved from expanded criteria donors is one of the options to expan... more Transplantation of kidneys retrieved from expanded criteria donors is one of the options to expand the pool of available grafts, shorten the waiting time and increase the number of kidney transplant recipients. This study was a retrospective assessment of 99 patients who underwent renal transplantation during the period 2007e2015 with kidneys harvested from expanded criteria donors (ECD) as defined by the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) following routine biopsy of all kidneys obtained by Karpinsky Score. They formed two groups: SKT (67 recipients that received a single kidney) and DKT (32 patients that received dual kidney transplant). An analysis of differences of two groups between graft and patient survival and graft function were performed after 8 years of observation. We observed between two groups the following statistical differences: Donor age (P < .001), basal high risk of recipients (P < .05), wait time before transplant (P < .05), recipient age (P < .001) delayed graft function (P < .005) while we observe similar values of donor renal function, outcome in graft and patient survival and graft function in recipients. The transplantation of kidneys obtained from expanded criteria donor, allows increase in the number of kidney transplants and in the respect of values of biopsy score and the donor renal function, showed in single or dual kidney transplantation with similar graft and patient survival.
