Its efficiency and effectiveness depends on the Knowledge Acquisition (KA) phase. Acquiring experience knowledge and transferring it into a knowledge-based system is complex and involves a range of diverse activities. There are two key problems related to KA-the identification of domain knowledge expertise and the heuristics that are useful in problem solving; and the identification of people who can provide this knowledge. In this paper, an approach for Web-based knowledge acquisition system is presented for acquiring expertise from software designers. This knowledge is used in software design decision making and knowledge reasoning. The process and decision laddering techniques are involved with the concept mapping to create and evaluate the knowledge as efficient and effective as possible.

The safety and guidelines for patients' selection are not well defined in the literature. The objectives of this study are: to examine the relative safety of the combined procedures, and to examine the effect of combining the two procedures on reducing the total operative time, operative blood loss and the duration of hospital stay. We retrospectively reviewed the medical charts of 51 patients operated upon at Jordan university hospital, between June 1997 and June 2008. Patients were divided into 3 groups of 17 patients each. The first group consisted of patients who underwent combined abdominoplasty and one of various abdominal gynecological procedures. The second group had gynecological procedures matched to those of the combined procedure group. The third group had abdominoplasty as a single procedure. The three groups were compared to each other in regards to age, weight, parity, co-morbidities, operative time, and intra-operative blood loss, post-operative complications, and hospital stay. Results showed no mortality or life threatening complications in any of the three groups. Post-operative minor complication rates were comparable in the three groups. The results also showed a significant reduction in total operative time, total operative blood loss, and total hospital stay in the combined group compared with the sum of the gynecological procedure and the abdominoplasty groups. The study supports the view of relative safety of combining abdominoplasty with abdominal gynecological procedures, and demonstrates its value in reducing total operative time, operative blood loss and duration of hospital stay.

They are both based on the well-known BitTorrent paradigm. As main innovative aspects, the video chunks are categorized in different priority sets and there is the deployment of a user-behavior predicting model. The analysis and the validation are carried out through simulations using workloads from a real server. Furthermore, the novel protocols are compared with others of the literature. The final results outline optimizations of up to one order of magnitude over the various competitive metrics considered herein.

Moreover, DVD-like operations have recently become essential for applications using this type of service. Focusing on interactive access, this paper proposes the Efficient Interactive Patching (EIP) and Interactive Merge (IM) schemes. The former is an optimization of the original Patching streaming protocol, and the latter is an optimization of the original Closest Target streaming protocol. Additionally, two new policies for exploiting the client's buffering capability are proposed: Unique Buffer (UB) and Precise Buffer (PB). Throughout trace-driven simulations, using workloads generated from real multimedia servers, we validate our proposals and carry out detailed competitive analyses with other proposals in the literature. Our results show that combining the optimizations with the buffer policies makes it possible to achieve quite significant overall reductions at average bandwidth, peak bandwidth and system complexity.

Hearing impaired person needs assist of a technical box that takes movements of lips to identify the words. Employing neural network techniques to detect the motion of lips have been widely used to improve the performance of speech reading algorithms. Automatic visual feature extraction, however, is difficult for both lip reading and speech recognition. Words 'one', 'two', 'three' and 'four' are identified from a video sequence of frames using Ergodic HMM, for which the combined features obtained from image and shape based techniques forms the input. The outcome of the proposed technique (66.83%) is better than the approaches like Hidden Markov Model, Time Delay Neural Network and Spiking Neural Network reported in the literature.

Performance and emissions results were recorded under steady state operating conditions. The engine was converted to computer integrated CNG-gasoline bi-fuel operations by installing a sequential port injection CNG conversion system. An engine control system and portable exhaust gas analyzer were used for controlling engine operations and recording engine performance and emissions data. The engine was run at wide open throttle and constant speed ranging from 1500 to 5000 rpm with 500 rpm increment. On average, CNG yielded 22% less brake specific fuel consumption (BSFC) and 13% higher fuel conversion efficiency (FCE) compared to gasoline. It showed that CNG in sequential port injection system yielded improved BSFC and better FCE compared to carburettor system of the same engine as reported in earlier work (Aslam et al., 2006). However, the volumetric efficiency was reduced by 4-10% with CNG operation. Due to this, the brake torque, brake Experimental Investigation of Performance and Emission of a Sequential Port Injection Natural Gas Engine 205 power and brake mean effective pressure of the engine were reduced by 8-16%. In terms of exhaust emissions, the results showed that HC, CO and CO 2 were significantly reduced by 40-87%, 20-98% and 8-20% respectively compared to gasoline.

In this paper a special methodology is used for establishing the high frequency model of transformer winding. This model topology is involved to reflect the internal electromagnetic behavior of such transformer. The proposed method is used in all part of transformer winding to completely represent the behavior of winding in different situation. The result predicts the position of short-circuit in each side of winding on different external condition. For better explanation several kind of curves are indicated which are drawn by MATLAB software.

The quantity of gypsum and location in the soil profile determines soil taxonomic class. The gypsum mineral has several varieties that differ by shapes "polymorphism" of the crystal and their textural arrangements. These crystals have been of great interest due to their effect on soil properties. Gypseous soils have been the focus of many studies, but those studies mostly concentrate on their mapping, distribution and management. Very few studies have presented gypsum morphologies in arid environment. The present study aims at describing gypsum polymorphism in the desert environment of Abu Dhabi Emirate. Gypsum crystals were described in the field as they exist, and also hand specimen of gypsum crystals were collected and photographed. Gypsum soils found in the desert environment of Abu Dhabi Emirate were classified, according to the USDA Soil Taxonomy, under the following great group levels: Haplogypsids, Petrogypsids and Calcigypsids. The formation of gypsum in these soils could be attributed to geological or pedogenic processes. The geological gypsum occurs in many shapes; however, pedogenic gypsum does not retain the form of geologic gypsum in soil environment. The common morphological forms of gypsum found in Abu Dhabi Emirate are lenticular, euhedral, rosettes, fibrous, tubular, fan, massive, exfoliated, honey comb or porous, powdery, bottlebrush, and rock outcrop. These forms are developing different internal and external soil features. Each of these forms is fully described in this paper.

Optimization of the milling is very important to reduce the cost and time for machining mould. The purposes of this study are to develop the predicting model of surface roughness, to investigate the most dominant variables among the cutting speed, feed rate, axial depth and radial depth and to optimize Surface Roughness Prediction Model of 6061-T6 Aluminium Alloy Machining Using Statistical Method 251 the parameters. Response surface method based optimization approach was used in this study. It can be seen from the first order model that the feed rate is the most significantly influencing factor for the surface roughness. Second-order model reveals that there is no interaction between the variables and response.
The main problem for Supervised Multi-layer Neural Network (SMNN) model such as Back propagation ... more The main problem for Supervised Multi-layer Neural Network (SMNN) model such as Back propagation network lies in finding the suitable weights during training in order to improve training time as well as achieve high accuracy. The important issue in the training process of the existing SMNN model is initialization of the weights which is random and creates paradox, and leads to low accuracy with high training time. In this paper, a new Supervised Feed Forward Multi-layer Neural Network (SFFMNN) model for classification problem is proposed. It consists of a new preprocessing technique which combines data preprocessing and pre-training that offer a number of advantages; training cycle, gradient of mean square error function, and updating weights are not needed in this model. In new SMFFNN model, thresholds of training set and test set are computed by using input values and potential weights. In training set each instance has one special threshold and class label. In test set the threshold of each instance will be compared with the range of thresholds of training set and the class label of each instance will be predicted. To evaluate the performance of the proposed SMFFNN model, a series of experiment on XOR problem and two datasets, which are SPECT Heart and SPECTF Heart was implemented with 10fold cross-validation. As quoted by literature, these two datasets are difficult for classification and most of the conventional methods do not process well on these datasets. Our results, however, show that the proposed model has been given high accuracy in one epoch without training cycle.
