The plant kingdom is recognized as the most efficient producer of different biologically active compounds, which provide them with resistance against different pests. Some higher plant products have been currently formulated as botanical pesticides and are used on a large scale as ecofriendly and biodegradable measures in managing agricultural pests. Botanicals used in agricultural pest management are safer to the user and the environment. The interest in the possible use of natural compounds to control agricultural pests has notably increased in response to consumer pressure to reduce or eliminate chemically synthesized additives in foods. There is a wide scope of use of plant-based pesticides in the integrated management of different agricultural pests. A consolidated and continuous search of natural products may yield safer alternative contr...

The paper highlights how the new face of service is evolving as a natural solution to keep pace with the multifaceted technological environment. It discusses about the basic concepts and essential elements of reference service and gives in detail the advantages, limitations and the technology base about the various established and emerging forms of digital reference.
Computers waved a (magic) wand and the whole process creation, access, delivery and preservation ... more Computers waved a (magic) wand and the whole process creation, access, delivery and preservation of information changed for the literary, scholarly, artistic, scientific and domestic community. Computers transformed the analogue world in to the digital world of 0 and 1. Digitisation came as a most wonderful and welcome tool in hands of libraries, museums, archives, societies, publishers, and others for preserving billions of paper/analogue documents in digital format for retaining their original look as well as with a point of view of their future relevance and potential. Preservation is the activity of protecting something from loss or danger. Digital preservation includes the preservation of print and non print material in digitised form for effective, efficient and purposeful use. Any library can't digitise all its resources. What should it do? What should it preserve? Why should and for whom should it preserve? How this ever changing digitisation scenario is putting a pressure on librarians/archivists, etc. This paper is making an attempt to seek answers to these questions. This paper also explores the concept of preservation by digitisation, the need of digital preservation, and the problems of digital preservation. How digital preservation activities are being carried out by DESIDOC for its publications: Defence Science Journal, DESIDOC Bulletin of Information Technology, PST Series, etc., are described. A detailed case study of development of database of negatives of photographs taken at various events, being developed by DESIDOC by use of various software like MS Access, Corel Draw, PhotoShop, etc., is discussed.

It was a Division of the Defence Science Laboratory (DSL), which later on became Defence Science Centre and now known as Laser Science & Technology Centre (LASTEC). The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) library, which had its beginning in 1948, became a Division of SIB in 1959. In 1967, SIB was reorganised with augmented activities and named as Defence Scientific Information & Documentation Centre (DESIDOC). It is one-step guide for the Hindi website development. It provides comprehensive instructions and real world examples, for special coverage of the topics on Hindi website designing and offers advice for developing a truly dynamic Hindi website, on parallel lines to which any multilingual website can be developed. This article is of interest to web developers interested in building dynamic, interactive Hindi websites and for those who are looking for a quick, effective way to build embedded fonts for the web.

Shelves will be instantly scanned for setting in some specific order. Library users will be able to check materials in and out of the library all by themselves without a librarian processing them and would find what they want almost instantly without bothering for classification system or arrangement. All this will leave library staff with more time to give personal attention to the user that is most desired and to plan and launch new programmes to support research and development activities of the organisation. All this can be activated by using a new emerging technology known as Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology.

Effect of different number of constituent layers in BFMO/BCFO multilayer structure on their structural, electrical and ferroelectric properties has been explored. BFMO/BCFO multilayer structure having 3 layers each is found to exhibit preferred oriented growth along (110) reflection plane in XRD and exhibit a larger remnant polarization (2Pr- 114 μC/cm2) due to reduced leakage current density of 1.1×10−7 A/cm2 measured at an applied voltage of 5 V. Optical bandgap increases from 2.69 to 2.77 eV with increase in number of stack layers in the BFMO/BCFO multilayer structure. Ferroelectric photovoltaic response of Bi(Fe0.9Mn0.1)O3/(Bi0.88Ce0.12)FeO3 multilayered structures in MMM (metal-multiferroic-metal) capacitor configuration has also been studied under violet laser light (λ = 405 nm, intensity = 160 mW/cm2) illumination.

Sometimes a possibility may look to be impractical because it goes against our accustomed style of working or is unacceptable because it does not offer a complete solution. However, people are getting used to the existence of new technologies. Already people have started using voice and electronic mail as preferred forms of communication in the same way as the use of remotely driven devices. http://dx.doi.org/10.14429/dbit.13.5.3083

Chest x-ray shows eventration of left sided hemi diaphragm, upper gastro intestinal contrast study conform the diagnosis of gastric volvulus. Plication of left hemidiaphragm with anterior gastropexy was performed through an abdominal approach. Postoperatively the patient's symptoms improved. Acute gastric volvulus carries a mortality rate of 42-56%, secondary to gastric ischemia, perforation or necrosis. 1 Emergency physicians should have suspicion about gastric volvulus when treating patients with abdominal pain and persistent vomiting. The patient should go for surgical consultation as early as possible.
