Zaffar Iqbal teaches at NED University of Engineering and Technology, Karachi and he is also associated to Institute of Historical Research and Social Science, Sohail University, Karachi. He has earned Ph.D. from University of Malaya, Malaysia. Apart from it, Mr. Junejo has 11 years teaching experience at Bachelors, Masters, and he has guided scholars at their advance studies - M.Phil, and Ph.D levels. He has taught Development Studies, Research Methodologies, Ethics, Social Policy and South Asian History. He has long experience of project development and management. He has been trained from INTRAC/ Oxford University in Project Management, Analysis and Learning. Mr. Junejo’s areas of interest are Colonial History, Historiography, History of Art, Social History and Peasants’ Moments. He has long experience of working with the UN body (Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Islamabad). Selected Agricultural Proverbs and Sindhi Peasants’ Indigenous Knowledge – a Source of Oral History

At present, the research on peasants in Sindh, Pakistan rarely enfolds their folk wisdom, traditi... more At present, the research on peasants in Sindh, Pakistan rarely enfolds their folk wisdom, traditions or oral history. The academia has distantly observed and discussed the peasants economic and tenancy rights. Other areas of the peasants' life-which are acknowledged merely as a folklorehave not been given considerate focus, especially their worldview based on indigenous knowledge and oral history. This study examines selected agricultural proverbs, grouped into themes and find out their usage frequency. These proverbs, their preservations, and continuity from one generation to another has become one traditional source for the indigenous wisdom of the agrarian people and the oral history.

A Contextual Review of the Selected English Writings on Japan’s Secret War Theatre, 1941-1945

This article explores the English writings, which have substantially examined the Japanese secret... more This article explores the English writings, which have substantially examined the Japanese secret war, abroad Indian revolutionaries' collaboration with the Japanese intelligence networks, and British counterintelligence amid World War-II. Further, the paper spotlights the formation of the Indian National Army (INA), the role of Subhash Chandra Bose, and other Indian revolutionaries settled in Southeast Asia and Far East Asia. However, the British portrayed those revolutionaries as 'Japanese Inspired Fifth Column' (JIFC) through their propaganda agencies and efficient organizational setups, including Indian troops. The article also spotlights the covert activities of Japanese in British India, which gathered military and strategic information, and dispatched it to Tokyo. The British thwarted the Japanese espionage networks as well as activities by recruiting the Indians as the double agents, prior they were furthering Japanese interests in India. Unfortunately, the history of British India, English Empire in India and the WW-II bypasses the contribution of abroad Indian revolutionaries and their associations with Japanese-intelligence networks, and their impact upon the Indian nationalist movement during WW-II.

This article examines Pakistan’s formative years’ political policies and responses of the leaders... more This article examines Pakistan’s formative years’ political policies and responses of the leadership. However, the focus of the article is to asses Comrade Hyder Baksh Jatoi’s stand on Pakistan Governments’ policies and programs (1947-1969). Thus, the article is organized in two parts; section one is about Comrade Hyder Baksh Jatoi’s biographical sketch and his struggle. Moreover, part two is the exploration of his political pamphlets written in the English language. These pamphlets document the nondemocratic steps of Pakistan Governments; spotlight Sindh Hari Committee’s struggled to make Pakistan a secular, democratic and true federal state. These pamphlets also unpack the federal government’s policies about the land grant schemes, Indian migrants’ settlement policies, snatching of Karachi city from Sindh, one-unit scheme, languages’ politics and allocation of the state lands of Sukkur Barrage, Kotri Barrage and Guddu Barrage and the tenancy rights in Sindh province, Pakistan.

The Subaltern Themes and Perspectives: A Portrayal of Sindhi Peasant in Selected Poems 1939-1975

This article examines selected Sindhi poetry published in text books, magazines, author-published... more This article examines selected Sindhi poetry published in text books, magazines, author-published books, weekly newspapers and other printing forms. The time-span of the article is thirty-six years. However, its subjectivity has determined the poetry. The article exposes the selected themes, with subaltern focussed on peasants' routine activities such as sowing, cultivating, and husing. In addion to that it also highlights peasants socio-cultural and economic position in rural set ups. Presenlty, parallel media, alterntive media, poetry and fiction are newly emerged socurces regarding the subaltern history. Therefore, the present article portrays peasants sociology, alongwith idealistic cultural and other aspirations in Sindhi society.
