Thus, based on the analysis of the narratives of Portuguese language teachers working in the Elementary two and High School segments of certain public schools located in suburban areas of the state of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), we propose to build reflections on the subjectivities of their discourses and identify the possible components that hinder the production of a heterogeneous and epistemologically based language teaching. Due to the nature of the research (essentially qualitative and interpretative), the analysis was elaborated from the theoretical pillars proposed by Narrative Studies and Interpretative Analysis. It was possible to observe that the narratives of the Portuguese Language teachers were constructed in order to explain some of the challenges faced by them in relation to the integration of linguistic variation in the current teaching methodology, such as: dichotomy between the view of language as a substantiated epistemological object and a vision of language as a normative object; performance of pedagogical instruments in the perpetuation of prescriptive teaching; inconsistencies between official guidelines and professional performance and the existence of linguistic prejudice in the school environment.

In such a period in which the school is necessarily forced to become 'digital', one wonders if this complex, and probably necessary, path of renewal brings along an equally and devoted commitment regarding better practices concerning educational intentionality with the use of the new technologies. Therefore, it is in this direction that we have chosen to bring critical research about a reading experience in the Brazilian context. It is an experience that highlights the importance of a perspective of social emancipation where action and reflection are intimately connected and translate into the promotion of a "praxis" that is critically deepened against the hegemonic thought of neoliberalism, which is, at the same time, dispersive. We defend a reading perspective against the manipulations of oppressors who, thanks to the web, feed hate, racists, and misogynist ideas, which are contrary to any kind of equality among human beings. Along with this perspective, the role of educational agencies is invested with an enormous responsibility in promoting digital literacy that provides everyone, especially young people, with tools capable of allowing management and the critical use of the enormous amount of information in which we are immersed. Today, it is important to strive for perspectives of education based on freedom, on the autonomy and the construction of truly democratic societies, in which the benefits and responsibilities of the democratic rule of law can be shared by all people, regardless of their color, origin, religion, sex.

In our research, we highlight excerpts from her narrative in which the teacher in formation is critical in relation to the behaviour of her regent teachers. The research favours understandings arising from the study of narratives and identity performances. We focus on how the student discursively constructs her experience of formation in supervised training and the possible meanings that emerge from this production. The results point to the need to reflect closely on the supervised internship process as a space for real action (and not just observation) in which the student has to prepare for the challenges of teaching. Another question that pertains our research is how we can better deal with the tensions between teachers in charge for the classes and teachers in training so that the experience of the Teaching Practice can include not only technical questions, but also didactic ones in its ethical and dialogical dimensions, always paying head to the training of the future language teachers so as to allow them to work in different teaching / learning spaces.

The narratives of conversion have very particular characteristics, such as working as testimonies of the passage from one bad condition of existence to a better one, in which the contrast between present and past are especially visible. In this paper, I investigate parts of a conversion narrative of a woman who has experienced conversion to an evangelical church (of which she is a member at the moment of the interview) after having participated in other religious practices. The research points to the fact that, when narrating different moments of her past experiences, the narrator realizes different identity constructions of herself, such as being superficial in her adolescence, troublesome in the relationship with her family and unhappy in her adulthood. According to her view of the present time, these constructions work, in the general schema of her narrative, as counterpoints to the construction of her present identity (after the conversion) as a happy and confident woman.
Key words: interactional sociolinguistics, social identity, narrative and religious discourse.

By looking at student-teacher memoirs of formation, the researchers examine transformative movements of becoming, in student-teacher narratives in apprenticeship, in public schools of Rio de Janeiro. By aligning critical pedagogy to a socio interactional perspective to narrative discourse of formation, we examine how student-teachers, in process of becoming teachers, view their transformative experiences in public schools during their apprenticeship. Although students depict resistance and difficulty in understanding their own roles, the place of teaching practice, as well as the role of the public schooling in Rio de Janeiro, our data demonstrates the transformation of their prejudice and pre-conceived notions of public schooling and teaching...

In our reading, we call attention to the fact that, while considering broader social issues, Paulo Freire has always paid close attention to local matters in the development of his educational work. This positioning allowed him to better understand the different realities of his students and, consequently, provide him with the possibility of developing different ways of building the teaching and learning process according to each with which context he worked. Our paper points to the perspective that, in a world affected by the consequences and results of the COVID-19 pandemic, Paulo Freire’s work can aid everyone involved in the educational process to reflect more deeply on their local realities, at the same time that it allows for taking into account broader perspe...

Through an analysis that considers the production of narrative as a discursive, dialogical and ideological process, this research may help us understand some of the experiences described in light of expectations and frustrations of the student in the supervised practicum course. It can also help us reflect upon strategies that can contribute to the education of future language teachers for acting in different areas of teaching and learning. This research points to the need for a dialogical construction of knowledge, for the development of bridges between the university and the school in order to cater for the open dialogue with all subj...

The analysis was triggered from a socio-constucionist approach to discourse (Moita Lopes, 1996) which is linked to a socio-interactional perspective (Gumperz [ ], 2002 Goffman [1974] 2002) that considers social identity as multiple and fluxing. The characters and the emergent voices within the narratives , as well the narrator who is aligned with them, show how the identities of the referred men and women are shaped.

We attempt to understand how images, throughout the book, are carriers of meaning and how their construct and disposition contribute to the chronological structure of the narrative. We assume that narrative analysis is a social process (Bastos & Santos, 2013) and that narrative performance encompasses the perception of the perspective of the present (Järvinen, 2004; Bastos & Santos, 2006), and of its sense of an ending (Mishler, 2002; Freeman, 2015). The results indicate that illustrations are used in the book The invention of Hugo Cabret in a way that they constitute a visual narrative whose formal elements proper of visual arts construction (line, form, light etc.) characterize their chronological aspect, as well as confer dynamism to the reading of the text. One of the elements that orient our reading is the constant relations to cinematographic language that the book attempts to establish with its readers.
