Nowadays, they can be used in environments which require a high level of interactivity, such as edutainment. A good example of this scenario is the television. This paper presents the application of several techniques related to corporal animation and natural voice recognition in order to achieve a whole body real time virtual presenter for television. Two main goals have been targeted within the application: a high quality of realism of the virtual presenter and real time interaction in a non intrusive way. A first prototype of this work has been tested in a TV program aim at children in the Basque Country television, and currently it is broadcasted daily.

The path to achieve greater user acceptance and adherence lies in the provision of solutions in their real-life context. Such acceptance is gained through flexibility provided in terms of location, client device, interaction means, and content. This article presents a universal remote rehabilitation delivery approach supporting the introduced flexibility needs. Furthermore, an implementation of the approach in joint rehabilitation for the elderly is described. The approach has been evaluated in a real scenario within Donostia Hospital. The usability evaluation results show the validity of the approach and the acceptance of the developed human −computer interaction paradigm.

Its cloud-based architecture enables anytime, anywhere and multi-device rehabilitation therapy execution. Furthermore, it is based on the Universal Remote Console (URC) technologies and serious game technology, to achieve the maximum degree of user satisfaction. The flexibility provided in terms of location, client device, interaction means and content is understood as the path to maximize patients’ acceptance and adherence rate

This paper presents a smart medical system for the universal remote delivery of rehabilitation and an implementation on a joint rehabilitation therapy targeted at the senior population. The main innovations of our technical contribution are a multidevice personalised telerehabilitation platform, realistic avatars for increased treatment adherence and high definition tracking for precise joint angle measurement and monitoring. The paper introduces the innovative technical approach, its implementation and the initial test results with Donostia Hospital therapists and patients.
