This paper proposes to manage this shift in a global manner through an enhanced co-evolution model. It takes into account the main enterprise domains that have to 'co-evolve': product, manufacturing and information system. The model also integrates the role of the strategy and of the human workforce which are crucial in the Factory of the Future context. We identify the modeling constructs required to support an efficient co-evolution management.

The application of CPS in the production environment leads to the development of Cyber Physical Production Systems (CPPSs). CPPSs hold great potential to make production systems become intelligent, resilient and self-adaptive. The number of articles on CPPSs has been growing very fast, but largely detached from industry practices. One of the main obstacles is to make the integrative link between CPPSs and Enterprise Information Systems (EISs). Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to propose a meta model to formalize this link. First, the definitions of CPPSs and EISs are given, and the meaning of the integrative link between CPPSs and EISs is illustrated from an informational dimension, a technological dimension and an organizational dimension. Then, after analyzing the existing studies of linking CPPSs and EISs in the literature, we can conclude that none of the research conceptualizes the integrative link between CPPSs and EISs. Therefore, at last, a meta model that conceptualizes this link is proposed. The meta model describes the main classes that constitute CPPSs and EISs, and clearly highlights the links between these classes. It is a first step to conceptualize the integrative link between CPPSs and EISs, although in a coarse way.

In particular, in the manufacturing sector companies need flexible IS to make the integration of infrastructures easier, to support production management and to be able to respond to the evolution of support technologies. To deal with these specific requirements the alignment between the manufacturing IS with the organisation's strategy and its outside environment is necessary. However, most of the research in the IS alignment field is related to the alignment of IS with the organisation's strategy, neglecting the alignment with the external environment. Thus, companies have to evolve introducing strategic and structural changes as a response to the external forces of the environment. For manufacturing IS these alignments are complex. The state of the art concerning IS alignment shows that the existing frameworks mainly concern managers and do not fit to the IS manufacturing context. On the one hand, B-SCP tends to operationalize these frameworks by coupling them to requirements engineering. However, only the alignment with the strategy is tackled. On the other hand, the dialectical analysis based approach of IS manufacturing development tries to integrate multiple alignments through the "multi-screen" view tool. However, the underlying concepts of this tool remain fuzzy. Therefore, this paper addresses the formalisation of the "multi-screen" view, in order to work out a framework for analysing mechanisms of multiple alignments of manufacturing IS. To do this, the contributions of coupling dialectics and "multiscreen" view to manufacturing IS are detailed through UML class diagrams. Moreover, to better grasp these contributions its similarities and differences with the B-SCP are outlined.

Cyber-Physical Production Systems (CPPSs), essential in Industry 4.0, result from the application of CPS principles to production environments. To promote the widespread implementation of CPPSs, it is necessary to study how to transform an existing production system with its integrated Enterprise Information Systems (EISs) into a CPPS. This is a very broad question and the scope of this work is limited to the concept development stage. The purpose of the paper is twofold: (1) to elaborate a metamodel for formalizing the elements that constitute CPPSs, with a particular emphasis on the involved EISs, and (2) to propose a method for supporting the transformation of an existing production system with its integrated EISs into a CPPS. Firstly, a literature review on the transformation methods towards CPPSs is carried out. It concludes that existing studies do not consider all aspects of CPPSs, especially its EISs, and that there is a lack of a method that analyzes the gap between the As-Is system and the To-Be system. As a result, a meta-model describing the main object classes that constitute CPPSs and the interrelationships among these classes, is proposed. Next, a method based on the meta-model is proposed to support the transformation into a CPPS. It provides a checking matrix to immediately visualize which improvement actions in the As-Is system are required. Furthermore, a case study illustrating the use of the method is presented. Finally, the contributions of the study are summarized and future work is highlighted.

This trend has generated several research streams that we analyse in this paper through a deep bibliographical review. This review leads us to conceptualize 3 main approaches: Computer Integrated Manufacturing, role of human work force and other integration approaches. A potential issue identified within the research is the interplay between computer-based and organization based approaches to manage the dynamic interactions among product, processes and production systems. The conclusions and orientations of future works are thus outlined to support the development of this co-evolution perspective for the successful transformation of Factories.

They not only support business processes but can also provide a strategic advantage. On this basis, the limits of the TOGAF ADM are outlined.

The proposed approach is composed of three steps: (1) the identification of the risk factors occurring while managing the misalignment; (2) the mitigation of these risk factors; (3) and the treatment of the impact the occurred risk factors have on the misalignment management. The use of the proposed approach is illustrated on a case study in a French small and medium-sized enterprise.
