The result is contrary to the interpretation presented by Gibbs et al. [3]. A tentative explanation is given which does not contradict Mahan-Nazieres-DeDominics theory.

The radiation can be obtained in the helical undulator operation mode of an insertion device, EMPW♯28, which is also cut for elliptically polarized hard x‐ray radiation. T first harmonic of the helical undulator radiation can be tuned from 40 to 350 eV with its corresponding K value from 3 to 0.2. A monochromator working basically with constant deviation optics was installed, and has started its operation. A circularly polarized flux of ∼1010 photons/s has been achieved with energy resolution of around 500–1000 at the first harmonic peak. The circular polarization after the monochromator was estimated to be higher than 70% by comparing theory and experiment on the magnetic circular dichroism of nickel films in the 3p‐3d excitation region. The design philosophy of the beamline and recent results on the performance tests are presented.

A netl surface processing technique consisting of 0* ion sputtering and in situ Au deposition processes on YBazCusOv l.tas developed to realize very low contact resistance based on these SRPES experiments.

Phase-matching is achieved through dispersion engineering of the waveguide cross-section, independently revealing multiple components of the nonlinear susceptibility, namely χ(2) yyy = 0.14 ± 0.08 pm/V and χ(2) xxy = 0.30 ± 0.18 pm/V. Additionally, we show how the second-harmonic signal may be tuned through the application of bias voltages across silicon nitride. The material properties measured here are anticipated to allow for the realization of new nanophotonic devices in CMOS-compatible silicon nitride waveguides, adding to their viability for telecommunication, data communication, and optical signal processing applications.

Some attempts in observing the NL effect with the SR has been performed in the hard x-ray region [1]. However, the NL effects in the soft x-ray region have not been observed, and it is important to establish the technique to observe the NL effect for future earnest experiments. For this purpose, we have developed a new apparatus in observing the secondharmonic generation in the soft x-ray region.
