To generate steam and electric power by applying internal sources, an analysed energy system inside its power plant uses a steam boiler, an extraction steam turbine, and a heat pump. Electric power is also purchased from external sources, such as a grid. This leads to the decision problem of determining the economically optimum energy-mix for a given set of conditions. In this ...

In this investigation, a linear programming model has been developed to optimize the performance of a steam boiler by minimizing its total life-cycle costs. For different types of fuel, costs of fuel, investment, and production of steam, the model predicts the optimal size of the entire steam boiler and its parts. Investigations show that this approach may maximally yield savings of up to 30 per cent.

Both models are used to relate the wear rate and technological parameters of the wear resistant drip moulding using different kernel functions. The models for determining the wear rate of white iron casting with low chromium content (flotation balls), was trained and tested by using the existing exploitation data from the Bor Flotation Plant, Serbia. In order to select the best model parameters the statistical indicators for both models are presented. Results show that the ERBF (SVM) and ERBF+POLY (ISVM) achieved the best classification accuracy compare to other kernels used: the absolute mean error of ERB (SVM) is 5.85%, while the error of ERBF+POLY (ISVM) is 6.67%. The tuned ISVM model with mixture of kernels is able to accurately predict the wear rate and can be used to define the optimum chromium content in liquid metal alloys for the casting of flotation balls.

The analyzed system comprises a double glass glazing, and a massive wall with an opening and central channel in it. In order to increase the efficiency, a fan is provided at the bottom vent of the wall. It is more advanced as compared with simple Trombe solar wall with a relatively low thermal resistance, which is taken as a reference in experimental analysis. The mathematical model, composed for the massive solar wall efficiency, is usually very complicated and assessment of the thermal behaviour requires the use of thermal simulation techniques. This paper presents steady-state and one-dimensional mathematical model for simplified analysis of thermal efficiency of modified Trombe solar wall that is working in heating mode. The results from presenting model were analyzed to predict the effects of variations in the constructive and operating parameters on the efficiency. The obtained results were used for simple and fast running design tools that designers can use in the early phases of the design process for calculations of efficiency of the active solar heating systems.

Renewable energy technologies have been deployed at a high rate and show a significant potential to become a major player in the electricity supply in next decade. PV systems have experienced a significant growth in their rate of deployment as an alternative to conventional power sources. This study presents the modeling and simulation of a 25 kWp solar power plant in Čačak, Serbia. The power plant is situated on the roof of the Science and Technology Park Čačak. The model was developed using System Advisor Model (SAM) software. SAM was used to analyze the technical performances of based on local weather conditions and all the system components of installed photovoltaic system. The model was validated by comparing its predictions with the actual plant data. The proposed predictive model can be used to characterize power plant performance as well as anal...

A main approach that universities’ educational systems may take towards Industry 4.0 is educating students who have the right skill set for reacting to the changes in their working environment, adapting their performance, and learning to cope with technological development. This paper presents the results of the project „Improvement of study programs for bachelor’s and master’s studies in Mechatronics in response to the requirements of Industry 4.0“, which was funded by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia as a part of program activity „Development of higher education“ and performed in the 2020/21 academic year

The most commonly used uneven-span single shape of greenhouse in east-west and north-south orientation have been selected for comparison. Total solar radiation input to each wall, included surfaces and roofs, is computed for both solar greenhouse orientation and compared for each month of the year at different latitudes at the northern hemisphere. Experimental validation is carried out for the measured global solar radiation data for horizontal surface and south wall at (44?N and 20?E), Belgrade, Serbia. The predicted and measured values are in close agreement. Results shows that east-west orientation of uneven-span solar greenhouse is the best suited during each months for all analyzed latitudes.

The analyzed system is comprised of a double glass glazing and a massive wall with an opening and central channel in it. In order to increase the efficiency, we provided a fan at the bottom vent of the wall. The active solar wall is more advanced compared to the simple Trombe solar wall with a relatively low thermal resistance, which we took as a reference in our experimental analysis. This paper presents a one-dimensional steady-state mathematical model for simplified analysis of the efficiency of active solar wall air heating systems. We analyzed the obtained results in order to predict the effects of environmental parameter variations, such as solar radiation, ambient temperature, and wind velocity, on thermal efficiency.
