This refers to the design of the model, construction/design of cutting parts, choice of materials, clothing technology and incorporation of protective elements. Due to prolonged exposure of drivers to dangerous conditions while driving, and the specific body position, garment must not in any of its parts, cause too much pressure on the body, i.e. the material from which the garment is made should be able to bear increased stress, and at the same time it must allow sufficient flexibility and comfort to the driver. This paper presents results of the conducted research regarding the impact/influence of constructional elements of cutting parts to the functionality of the two selected models of motorcycle pants/ trousers. Physical and mechanical properties of the material intended for the production of mentioned trousers are determined. Based...

CAD systems, on the other hand, enabled scan data restoration and modifi cation in order to get precise 3D models. Apart from being used in industries such as engineering and the automotive industries, CAD systems are today used by the textile and the apparel industry. However, there is a great deal of complexity in reconstructing and modelling 3D scan data of the human body. 3D scan data of the human body can be converted into a triangle mesh, while the CAD restoration process is performed using reverse engineering techniques in order to create a realistic model. Reverse engineering techniques involve the extraction of information about manufactured products. The conversion of data regarding the human body acquired by 3D scanning into a CAD model is a complex direct method. The 3D scan data processing of the human body requires a great deal of knowledge of the basic human anatomy, as the human body has an extremely complex geometry. The reverse modelling procedure is extremely multiplex and time consuming due to the large amount of details, while the workfl ow involved in restoring 3D scan data to even begin the reverse engineering process is complex. In recent studies, non-contact 3D body scanning, together with 3D CAD reverse engineering, could be applied for precise volume measurements for microclimatic volume and area quantifi cation, as the reconstructed model of the human body can serve for the further analysis of the thermal insulation properties of clothing in relation to the volume of air trapped between layers. Keywords: non-contact 3D body scanning, 3D digital surface model of the human body, reverse engineering techniques, 3D CAD reverse modelling and reconstruction

The research was performed on three types of knit fabrics: double jersey (rib one plus one), interlock knit fabric, and bleached interlock knit fabric. In order to meet the criterion of seam quality, it is necessary to adjust the above-mentioned parameters optimally. Depending on the type of the knit fabric, the values of the investigated forces change, and by increasing the number of layers and the sewing speed, the force values increase.

Based on anthropometric survey conducted on Croatian female population, different female body types and morphology parameters that determine affiliation to a particular type were defined. Survey was conducted using 3D scanning method, in static and dynamic body positions to gain an insight of body surface deformability in motion, important for providing high level of garment fit. Using 3D flattening method, both scanned and parametric body models, customized according to particular body types, were separated into the discrete 2D surfaces determined by anatomical planes and characteristic bodily lines. Discrete body surfaces were analyzed in terms of contour shape and surface values, and differences in obtained parameters between different body types were determined. Contour shapes of flattened body segments were analyzed and compared with the standard garment construction and grading methodology.

Optoelectronic kinematic system for locomotion analysis and laser 3D body scanner primary intended for anthropometric measurement for clothing design, were used for this purpose. According to performed comparative analysis of anthropometric landmarks and their positions defined in both methods, spatial coordinates of selected anthropometric measurement landmarks were determined, together with the surface coordinates of kinematic model, according to body markers defined in kinematic measurement process. Analysis of characteristic body cross-sections was also performed, as a base for determining positions of additional kinematic landmarks for measurement of upper limbs kinematic variables.

A number of methods and systems have already been developed that allow an efficient 3D design of garment patterns in a virtual environment using the computer-based body models. Such systems usually offer solutions for creating the models of garments to be manufactured from elastic materials, which come close to the body. Here, the designer designs the garment and also constructs a 3D model of the garment on the surface of the virtual model of the body. After finishing the computer design of the surfaces that simulate 3D patterns, the transformation of three-dimensional to two-dimensional patterns is performed. As a prototype of the garment, on which the study was conducted, the model of a wet diving suit was chosen. Using the 3D simulation method on the parametric and scanned body model, we have analysed the fit of designed ...

Elements of motivation contributing to manufacturing workers' efforts should be emphasized, too. Communications processes, interaction and synergy connections are analyzed. Furthermore, the criteria contributing to the creation of goals and the process rationalization are described. The methodology of improving the textile and clothing manufacturing process is the main part of the paper. A contribution to the control of the manufacturing process is made. Moreover, the relevance and methodology of the professional training of workers and the performance of direct tasks in the manufacturing process of the textile and clothing production are considered. In concluding, the paper describes technical and technological fundamentals of the industrial production in the group of textile, technical textile and garment manufacturing.
