In addition, some English teachers/lecturers experience difficulties to encourage and motivate their students to write. There are a number of reasons why sometimes many language learners find it difficult to perform writing skills. One of the reasons is that they are sometimes asked to write about the topics they have little knowledge of. Another reason is if they are not interested in the topics they are asked to write about. This paper aims at describing one way in which English teachers can help their students get as much out of activity as possible despite their writing experiences, that is through an excursion. It involved one class of the seventh grade with 27 out of 87 students at State Junior High School Number 1 Kalaena, South Sulawesi Province, Indonesia. The method of the study was descriptive quantitative. Vocabulary test in the forms of pre-test and post-test was used to collect the research data. The number of questions for the pre-test and the post-test was 50 numbers. The researchers conducted the treatment, in this case, the use of the fly swatter game in teaching vocabulary, after giving the pre-test. After the treatment, the post-test was conducted. The data collected were analyzed by using Statistical Product and Service Solution (SPSS) program version 20. The method used was a mixed method in a convergent parallel design. Through an online questionnaire, the researchers administered a close-ended questionnaire to the eight grade students, and an open-ended questionnaire was administered to the English teachers of SMP Negeri 3 Palopo. This study was carried out at SMAN 1 Palopo. Mixed technique, which is mostly quantitative, was used, with a survey using an online Likert scale questionnaire administered to 31 respondents and five of them interviewed. The data has been evaluated quantitatively and statistically using the paired sample t-test and qualitative description. The questionnaire was examined according to the proportion of each response. To convert questionnaire data into percentages, the researcher multiplied the number of occurrences by 100 percent and then divided by the total number of respondents. This research aimed to figure out (1) the teacher's teaching strategies in English online learnin... more This research aimed to figure out (1) the teacher's teaching strategies in English online learning during COVID-19 pandemic at second grade students of SMA Negeri 3 Palopo, (2) the students' perception on the teacher's teaching strategies in English online learning during COVID-19 pandemic at second grade students of SMA Negeri 3 Palopo. The method used was the application of the mixed method, through an online questionnaire to 31 respondents and also interviewed the English teacher. Data has been analyzed using description qualitatively and statistical analysis. The results of this research indicate that the strategies were applied in English online learning by the English teacher were virtual or video conferences via Zoom or google meet with lecture method in explaining the material. Besides that, the English teacher also applied online chat via Whatsapp group to give assignments and further discussion. Based on the data through the questionnaire, students' answers of agree which dominated the questionnaire. In addition, the overall result of the research stated that students of SMAN 3 Palopo have positive perception on their teacher's teaching strategies in English online learning during COVID-19 pandemic with mean score 50,19.

The basic concept of this model is that through small group activities, the students can empower each other in the form of showing performance, and there exists mutual learning among the students in the learning process. This technique can overcome the problems of the conventional way of teaching and it can create more meaningful fun effective learning. The research method applied in this study is a descriptive qualitative and quantitative method. Data of the research which were collected through questionnaire and observation were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. All the instruments used have been validated by experts. The students' response towards the implementation of cooperative learning with Tudassipulung technique in teaching Education Management unit at the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Education Study of State Islamic Studies Institute of Palopo is in a very high positive category. Therefore, tudassipulung techniques promote students' interest in learning.

However, in a higher institution, where this study takes place, there is an assumption states that participating in organization does not have any relation with the students" academic achievement even though the organization is related to their field of study. Therefore, this study is directed to investigate whether the assumption is correct or not. In conducting this study, thirty five English students of the seventh semester were randomly taken as the sample. Questionnaires were distributed to collect data about degree of the students" participation in ESA (English Students Association) and their GPA scores. This term is formed by two Bugis root words, namely tudang which means duduk (sit) and sipulung which means berkumpul (gathering). These two words became a new compound word, tudassipulung. This word is synonym with rapat, means ‘meeting’, ‘conference,’ ‘round-table,’ etc. At the meeting all the participants should value and respect each other. The fishermen group were from Belopa, Harapan, and Munte Village, North Luwu Regency. The method used was action research by creating learning tools validated by two education experts in two learning actions to observe the learning components' feasibility. The validation of the learning plan and documentary film was in the "very valid" category, which means that these two tools are suitable for increasing environmental knowledge. There were two phases used in this research. The first phase examined the concept of the lesson plan, guidedbook, video material, evaluation tests, and answer sheets that were validated by the experts. In the second phase, two reviewers examined the practicality and the effectivity of the learning implementation. The validity result of the guided-book was in very valid category. The lesson plan was in very valid category, and the video material was also in the very valid category. This validation was carried out by educational expert and multimedia expert.
