Owing to its sensitivity to mercury toxicity, F. cancrivora was subjected for the determination of total mercury (THg). The food intake of frogs is claimed to influence mercury concentration on its body, thus its stomach content was also subjected for analysis. The analysis on the gut contents of F. cancrivora revealed ten (10) food items in which the insect parts got the highest percentage of occurrence (74.19%). In addition, the total mercury concentration found on the gut of F. cancrivora is below the detection limit of <0.02 ug/g which passed USEPA standard of 0.50 ug/g implying that the detected mercury level is still acceptable. This study would like to recommend control and prevention of mercury contamination in the mining area. Anuran; disturbed; food item; habitat; threat.

Kitanglad Range. Hence, this study determined the different species of fruit bats in forest patches with varied quantity and quality influenced by human activities. Mist-netting technique was used comprising a total of 522 net-nights established in selected forest patches in Mt. Kitanglad Range. Results showed three Mindanao Faunal Region endemic species (Alionycteris paucidentata, Ptenochirus minor and Megaerops wetmorei), three Philippine endemic species (Haplonycteris fischeri, Ptenochirus jagori and Harpyionycteris whiteheadi), and three non-endemic species (Rousettus amplexicaudatus, Macroglossus minimus and Cynopterus brachyotis). There were nine species under Family Pteropodidae Order Chiroptera. Endemic species dominated the large, diverse forest areas with minimal human activities while non-endemic species inhabited the small forest areas with high level of human disturbances such ...

We used line transect and visual encounter surveys to study eight sites located in dipterocarp, montane, and mossy forests. We found 15 reptiles (one order and six families) and nine amphibians (one order and five families). Endemicity in lower elevations reached 80% for reptiles and 77.8% for amphibians. Reptiles endemic to Mindanao Island constituted 13.3% of the Reptilia we identified. The species found in lowland dipterocarp forest face threats from anthropogenic disturbances such as habitat conversion, and may be good indicators of biotic integrity. We suggest that lowland forest habitats are critical for endemic species because these areas have significantly higher species richness and diversity than found in the tropical forests at higher elevations.
