We emphasize the need of adequate and uniform guidelines useful to incorporate essential security and usability aspects in websites. In order to diminish this problem a methodology is provided to developers with guidance in designing a trustworthy environment through an effective feedback in case of a security issue are explicitly incorporated in the development life cycle. Our proposal integrates several collections of design patterns (based on HCI-S design criteria), complemented with measurement models (based on Goal Question Metrics, GQM, approach) to evaluate the obtained results.

Good results, maintained in the long-term, have been referred in the treatment of prostate adenocarcinoma. A role as possible substitute of partial nephrectomy in the treatment of renal adenocarcinomas smaller than 4-5 cm is under research. There is no discussion that freezing destroys cellular machinery and triggers several events the final result of which is cell death by necrosis and apoptosis. The decrease of temperature makes extracellular liquid crystallize and creates a hyperosmotic environment, which induces water to go out of the cell producing intracellular dehydration. Intracellular ice is created with fast freezing speeds being attributed the most destructive effect on biological tissues with irreparable damage. In blood vessels, it directly induces endothelial cell death and mechanical lesions of the endothelium; the consequence is the formation of thrombi that obstruct the lumen of the vessel. In the post-thawing phase there is an increase in free radicals formation and neutrophil activity, which induces cellular membrane lipids peroxidation and new endothelium lesions. Tissue destruction is determined by: minimal temperature achieved, freezing speeds, freezing phase duration, number of freezing-thawing cycles provided, and distance to the freezing focus. As we move away from the freezing focus cells are affected in different ways, and there are several mechanisms proposed to explain the lethal action induced by temperatures higher than--40 degrees C. In our series pathologic findings were: necrosis, hemorrhagic areas either developed or not, fibrosis, hyalinization and increases in the relative number of hematic capillaries, microscopic calcifications, basal cells hyperplasia, and transitional or squamous metaplasia. Residual cancer is localized in the areas less affected by freezing. It should be emphasize the scarce morbimortality associated with the procedure. It does not require ICU admission or blood transfusions, no cerebral vascular accidents (CVA) or heart events have been described, and mortality is null, so that it is feasible in high surgical risk patients and without age limit.

A particular concern is the potential for lipid and cytokine mediators present in PRBCs to augment the postinjury inflammatory response that sometimes culminates in multiple organ failure. Through the use of a polymerized human hemoglobin (PolyHeme), we have been able to measure the inflammatory response in patients resuscitated with minimal exposure to banked components in the early postinjury period. Critically injured patients requiring urgent transfusion were resuscitated with either PRBCs or PolyHeme in the early postinjury period. Proinflammatory cytokines (interleukin [IL]-8 and IL-6), counterregulatory cytokines (IL-10 and IL-11), and markers of endothelial injury (soluble intercellular adhesion molecule and soluble E-selectin) were serially measured. Increases in IL-8, IL-6, and IL-10 were greater in patients resuscitated with PRBCs. IL-11 plasma levels were largely below the level of detection of the assay. There was no difference in markers of endothelial injury. Consistent with concerns about the immunoinflammatory response to transfusion of PRBCs, we observed exaggerated levels of three markers associated with adverse outcome. The clinical significance of these findings with respect to the development of multiple organ failure awaits further study.

We have previously shown that early postinjury neutrophil (PMN) priming identifies the injured patient at risk for MOF. Recent in vitro studies have demonstrated that postshock mesenteric lymph primes isolated human neutrophils. We hypothesize that lymphatic diversion before hemorrhagic shock abrogates systemic PMN priming and subsequent lung injury. Sprague-Dawley rats (n >or= 5 per group) underwent hemorrhagic shock (MAP 40 mm Hg x 30 min) and resuscitation (shed blood + 2x crystalloid) with and without mesenteric lymphatic duct diversion. Sham animals underwent anesthesia and laparotomy. Whole blood was taken 2 hours after resuscitation, heparinized, and incubated for 5 min at 37 degrees C. Surface expression of CD11b (a marker for PMN priming) was determined by flow-cytometry compared with isotype controls. In addition, lung myeloperoxidase (MPO) was measured for PMN sequestration, and Evans blue lung leak was assessed in the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid in sham, and shock +/- lymph diversion animals. Hemorrhagic shock resulted in increased surface expression of PMN CD11b relative to sham (23.8 +/- 6.7 vs. 9.9 +/- 0.6). Mesenteric lymphatic diversion before hemorrhagic shock abrogated this effect (8.0 +/- 2.6). Lung PMN accumulation, as assessed by MPO, was greater in the lungs of nondiverted (113 +/- 14 MPO/mg lung) versus sham (55 +/- 4 MPO/mg lung, p < 0.05); lymph diversion reduced lung PMNs to control levels (71 +/- 6.5 MPO/mg lung, p < 0.05). Evans blue lung leak was 1.6 times sham in the hemorrhagic shock group; this was returned to sham levels after lymph diversion (p < 0.05). Post-hemorrhagic shock mesenteric lymph primes circulating PMNs, promotes lung PMN accumulation, and provokes acute lung injury. Lymphatic diversion abrogates these pathologic events. These observations further implicate the central role of mesenteric lymph in hemorrhagic shock-induced lung injury. Characterizing the PMN priming agents could provide insight into the pathogenesis of postinjury MOF and ultimately new therapeutic strategies.

The main contribution of the paper is that is develops a particle swarm-based strategy to solve combinatorial optimization problems in general, and the TSP in particular. It first establishes the steps to be followed in the new method and then goes on to test the results obtained on a range of symmetrical problems set by different authors in the field. The method's results are then compared with results from a number of well known non-guided local search techniques, hoighlighting the fact that it is an enhancement on earlier techniques. Finally, it studies the contribution of particle swarm to the local search process search, where there is also an improvement over results from a simple local search. Experimental results suggest that the new method provided good results for symmetric TSP problems.

Results of a test performed at the Fermilab Booster, comparing the existing Fermilab BPM system are also presented. A calibration technique has been used which corrects errors due to mismatched channels and electronics drift. The results are compared with bench measurements on the prototype circuit.
