Although measurement of haemoglobin A1c has become the cornerstone for diagnosing diabetes mellitus in routine clinical practice, the role of this biomarker in reflecting long-term glycaemic control in patients with chronic kidney disease has been questioned. Methods. Consensus review paper based on narrative literature review. Results. As a different association between glycaemic control and morbidity/mortality might be observed in patients with and without renal insufficiency, the European Renal Best Practice, the official guideline body of the European Renal Association-European Dialysis and Transplant Association, presents the current knowledge and evidence of the use of alternative glycaemic markers (glycated albumin, fructosamine, 1,5-anhydroglucitol and continuous glucose monitoring). Conclusion. Although reference values of HbA1C might be different in patients with chronic kidney disease, it still remains the cornerstone as follow-up of longer term glycaemic control, as most clinical trials have used it as reference.

General anesthesia was performed using ketamine 50mg/kg I.M. Induction time was 45 minutes. The prolapsed tissue was lavaged with ster ile saline solution and Betadine solution. Using a forceps all cloacal tissue was reposed in n ormal position. A continue suture with silk was applied at cloacal area. Complete recovery after general anesthesia was afte r 24 hours. All this time the turtle was kept in warm conditions (24 O C).

This study aimed to assess the behavior of dogs in a public dog shelter by how a dog behaves towards a person (examiner) in a sequence of situations and to determine the number of individuals who responded with aggression. The behavior test was developed by The Rottweiler Rescue Society (Ontario, Canada) and John Rogerson, Blue Cross, Britain. Following minor modifications, has been used to examine dogs in public shelters. The test contains two additional assessment items from the article "An Evaluation of a Behavior Assessment to Determine the Suitability of Shelter Dogs for Rehoming" [1]. A total of 187 adult dogs were examined, of which 24 ...

We have used the method of radiographic indirect lymphography with a contrast agent. The lymphographies were taken in the Radiology Laboratory of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Cluj-Napoca, using a TEMCO GRx-01 type fixed radiographic equipment. This study method has allowed us to underline the mammary lymphatic drainage and interglandular lymphatic connections.

The study was conducted on 10 horses that were presented to the radiology clinic for pulmonary investigation. The study was conducted using a double arms X-Ray device. The patients were clinically evaluated and for the radiological investigation the horses were sedated and a helper restrained also the patient in a proper position. The mobile arms of the device give the possibility of adjusting the distance between the X-Ray tube and the detector, because of these one or two exposures were enough to examine the entire thoracic cavity. The interstitial patter is more evident in horses that in small mammals given the gross anatomy of the lungs. The radiological parameters were adjusted according to thoracic cavity depth. Radiographic examination is a necessary tool that completes the clinical examination. The up-to-date detectors used in veterinary radiology give the clinician the possibility of a detailed examination of the lung parenchyma and the thorax structures.

However, there are some organs such as cavity organs or the vascular system, which cannot be pointed out after a common radiological examination. Such is the case of the urogenital system, which cannot be visualized on a simple radiography, because the uterus, the uterin ligaments, cervix, salpynx have attenuation index approximately equal. In order to visualize the genital area, we have to use by administering some contrast substances. Thus, the radiological examination becomes an extremely important means of both, diagnosing a case and treating a genital disease. The female genital apparatus can be examined both from a functional point of view, when we can appreciate the manifestation of procreation instinct, sexual cycle and other phases, as well as from a physical point of view, by performing an external and internal examination and taking into consideration the most significant semiologic methods. The histerosalpingography is a special method based on the introduction of ionic contrast substances into the genital duct by pointing out the uterine cavity, mainly uterine tube and ostium abdominal. We have used Ultravist 370; it is a nonionic contrast substance, with low osmolarity and reduced secondary effects.

The radiological examination of the spinal cord and of the spinal channel, through the usage of contrast substances, is called myelography. Through the usage of the myelography method it is possible to explore cervical, lumbar regions, as well as the sac of the sacral spine. Upon treating and diagnosing, this clinical method is indicated, if traditional x-rays do not show spinal lesions, or when clinical signs contradict x-ray results, and also when multiple lesions appear and there is the need for a more accurate determination of the damaged element, necessary upon surgery. It may also be used when more information is needed to establish a prognosis.

Ever since the first description in 1935 made by Schnelle, canine hip dysplasia has remained one of the most diagnosed orthopedic conditions present in the dog breeds. The gold standard method of diagnosis of hip dysplasia is the radiological examination in hip-extended position. While the radiological examination focuses mainly on the individual for the diagnosis of this condition, methods of diagnosis of an entire population are sought, and these methods are represented by molecular genetics techniques. Naming the etiology of canine hip dysplasia and finding out the latest methods of genetically and radiologically diagnosis of canine hip dysplasia and the best alternatives of treatment for this disease. Canine hip dysplasia continues to be a major problem for owners, breeders and veterinarians. Currently, there are five standardized systems worldwide that deal with the grading of canine hip dysplasia. In addition to digital radiology, CT and ultrasonographic examination are feasible diagnosis methods. Even if the standard method of diagnosis remains the radiological examination in the present, the near future provides to be of the molecular genetic techniques.
