However, recent investigations have indicated that standard residual adulticide barrier treatments may be enhanced when combined with an insect growth regulator targeting immature stages that could be transferred to immature habitat by adults contacting treated surfaces. We conducted field trials at residential sites in a subtropical urban environment in north central Florida treating blocks of vegetation with residual sprays of lambda-cyhalothrin (Demand® CS) and pyriproxyfen (Archer®) alone and in combination treatments to determine their efficacy against peridomestic mosquitoes. The combined treatment resulted in consistent approximately 100% reduction in Aedes mosquito eggs for 16 wk post-treatment compared to not significantly lower but more variable reductions at alone treatment sites.

To achieve this goal, we selected a sample of data composed of variables from 55 countries, available at the World Bank website. On the other hand, we measured the countries' level of governance by the indicator promoted by Transparency International. The period considered in this research was 8 years, from 2000 to 2008. We used the method of linear regression with panel data, in order to investigate statistical relationships among governance and the other variables. We applied the method of simultaneous equations in order to make a robustness test on the first results and findings. The results of the two models converged and showed the existence of a statistical significant relationship between governance and several of the variables investigated. This allows us to infer that the development of the countries governance is closely linked with the long-term sustainable development.

Statistical evidence was found of relationships among these variables. This statistical evidence suggests that institutions and governments will benefit from acting in proactive ways to promote ethical practices to improve the environment for business and thereby create conditions for growth in trade to further the economic well being of individuals.
