These amounts reflect increases from 1994 of 35.4 and 24.6 percent, respectively [1]. More than two-thirds of the largest 7,500 Con-trolled Foreign Corporations (CFC’s) were concen-trated in two industrial divisions, manufacturing, and finance, insurance, and real estate [2]. These two industrial divisions accounted for 83.1 percent of average total assets, 66.8 percent of total receipts, and 74.0 percent of current earnings and profits (less deficit) before taxes. Approximately one-sixth of the 7,500 largest CFC's were located in the United Kingdom. These

Good image uniformity begins with generating uniform magnetic elds, which are easily distorted by induced currents on receive-only surface coils. It has become an industry standard to combat these induced currents by placing RF blocking networks on surface coils. This paper explores eect of blocking network impedance of phased array surface coils on B 1 distortion. It has been found and veried, that traditional approaches for blocking network design in complex phased arrays can leave undesirable B 1 distortions at 3 Tesla. The traditional approach of LC tank blocking is explored, but shifts from the idea that higher impedance equals better B 1 distortion at 3T. The result is a new

Constructs are destacked for analysis of each layer of the stack. Explored applications include effects of oxygen gradients within tumor biology and cardiac ischemia. • Soft Robotics: Use of elastomers to fabricate pneumatic actuators that achieve complex motions and delicate handling with simple inputs. Developments include braille-based pneumatic manifold and rapid actuators.

We develop techniques for solving for the rational expectations equilibrium (REE) and examine whether agents following adaptive or statistical learning schemes will converge over time to RE. When there are multiple REE, we will be interested in determining which of them can be possible points of convergence under learning. We will also consider cases in which learning can lead to non-REE learning dynamics. A substantial part of the course will be devoted to studying the implications of learning for macroeconomic policy. The first half of the course will focus on learning theory, in some standard set-ups, and will mainly be based on my book with Seppo Honkapohja, Learning and Expectations in Macroeconomics, (LEM). The second half of the course will emphasize applications of learning and will mainly be based on recent journal articles. We will cover a selection of the papers listed, depen...

Approximately three-fourths of the $969.9 billion of bonds issued were long-term (i.e., with maturities of 13 months or more) in nature. The $719.2 billion of long-term tax-exempt governmental bonds issued were split between new issues (52.3 percent) and refunding issues (47.7 percent). More than one-fourth of the $376.3 billion of new long-term tax-exempt governmental bonds issued during this period was for education. Legislative Background Since the inception of the modern-day Federal income tax in 1913, an exclusion from income subject to tax has been provided for interest received by holders of debt obligations (i.e., bonds) of States and their political subdivisions [1]. This provision, which

It throws light on the various issues and mathematical models related to in-situ and exsitu physical processes operative within ocean as well as ocean-atmospheric system drive worldwide ocean circulation. Oceanographers and coastal geomorphologist pays attention on mathematics, as the essence of the dynamical approach is to deduce quantitative information about the movements and circulations of the ocean water from mathematical statements of the basic principles of physics (aspects of fluid mechanics) when applied to ocean waters and inland river systems. For this purpose forty five (n = 45) male students were selected as subjects and their age group ranged between 17 and 21 years. They were divided into three equal groups, each group consisted of fifteen (n = 15)subjects. The group I underwent parcourse training (PTG), group II underwent interval training (ITG) and group III acted as a control (CG) which did not engage any special training, except their regular curriculam. The training period for this study was three days in a week for twelve weeks. Plasma cholesterol was selected as a criterion variable of this study and measured by oxides enzymatic method using the Boechringer Mannheim kit. The analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) was applied as a statistical tool. Whenever the F value is found to be significant, Scheffe's test was applied as a post hoc test to find out the paired mean differences. In all ca...

Mainstream media often present massive open online courses (MOOCs) as both a reflection of the need for universities to undergo a metamorphosis and as a means of forcing a new perspective on digital teaching and learning practices (i.e., This special issue presents a series of peer reviewed articles the guest editors believe will aid in increasing the quality of the research focus across a growing field of research and participation from numerous academic fields. Articles in this special issue contrast theoretical and empirical research related to MOOCs through a careful examination of thematic issues from student perceptions, engagement, and participation to campus leadership and decision-making challenges. In the opening article, Milligan, Littlejohn, and Margaryan (2013) focus on participation patterns in connectivist MOOCs (cMOOCs) in which learner autonomy and engagement are favored over rote learning. Roles for HLA class I loci have been supported in several case-control studies, but this methodology does not consider the known linkage disequilibrium (LD) between class I and II loci. In 1258 individuals from 294 MS families, we analysed class I and II interactions. Using transmission disequilibrium test and haplotype analyses, we found positive associations between MS and several HLA-DRB1 * 15-HLA-A haplotypes including HLA-DRB1 * 15-HLA-A * 02 (P 5 2.41 3 10 25) and-HLA-A * 03 (P 5 8.42 3 10 26) and several HLA-DRB1 * 15-HLA-B haplotypes including HLA-DRB1 * 15-HLA-B * 07 (P 5 2.23 3 10 210). HLA-DRB1 * 15 haplotypes divergent for reported HLA-A allelic associations were equally over-transmitted, illustrating no detectable effect of HLA-A orB alleles in cis on susceptibility. HLA-A and-B alleles on haplotypes not bearing HLA-DRB1 * 15 were not over-transmitted. Similarly, general overtransmission of HLA-DRB1 * 15 haplotypes was independent of the HLA-B allele present. Furthermore, HLA-B * 07 haplotypes from HLA-DRB1 * X-HLA-B * X/HLA-DRB1 * X-HLA-B * 07 heterozygous parents were transmitted per random expectation giving no indication of HLA-B independence or trans complementation of HLA-DRB1 * 15 by HLA-DRB1 * X-HLA-B * 07 haplotypes. These results imply that many reports of class I allelic associations in MS are class II dependent, secondary to LD with class II loci. The lack of independent class I associations suggests that virus-related class I-antigen complexes are not T-cell targets in MS. The inability to replicate confirmed case-control associations highlights the importance of family-based analyses. The frequency of allelic associations not being replicated emphasizes the requirement for constructing multilocus haplotypes in dissecting associations in regions of tight LD.
