Four objectives were formulated for the research. A self-design questionnaire was used as the instrument of data collection. 700 questionnaires were administered to the lecturers and students in the tertiary institutions while the respondent was randomly selected in the study area. Out of the 700 questionnaires distributed, 636 number were retrieved representing 90.86% of the total. The result shows that 66.3% of the students agreed that they frequently use Social Media during lectures and 79.8% of the respondents agreed that the use of Social Media during lectures affects their concentration. It was recommended among others that Students should devote more time to their studies, than to social media and that schools should put in place a measure that will control the use of handsets, especially when the lecture is going on and that addictiveness be reduced.

In view of the above the researchers decided to use some few sampled schools in Bauchi state to find out what the situation is like. Girls who were lucky to have reached senior secondary school level, and were expected to remain in school up to completion time, and if there were withdrawals/dropouts, what could have been the possible causes of these? And what can be done to ensure that these girls at least complete their senior secondary education? At this level, it is believed that they would have been matured enough as well as have acquired some life skills to enable them face the challenges of the today’s society. Accordingly, A ...

New and emerging technologies challenge the traditional process of teaching and learning, and the way education is managed. Information Technology (IT), while an important area of study in its own right, is having a major impact across all curriculum areas. Easy worldwide communication provides instant access to a vast array of data, challenge assimilation and assessment skills. Rapid communication, plus increased access to IT in the home, at work, and in educational establishments could mean that learning becomes a truly lifelong activity, an activity in which the pace of technological change forces constant evaluation of the teachinglearning process itself. In this paper issues related to the needs and imperatives of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) related technologies to education and in particular teachers' education are highlighted. The paper also advances some suggestions and/or recommendations for effective integration of ICT in the teaching learning process, bearing in mind current problems mitigating against the implementation of ICT in the Nigerian education system.

These skills are essential in order to optimize lecturers' performance and also in order to compete in a world where needs and ways of learning change almost on a daily basis. Almost all instructors in America and Europe and a few in developing countries are using a Course Management System (CMS) to create, organize and deliver their courses for increased flexibility, creativity and interactivity among learners, this is far fetched in Nigerian institutions today. This informed my decision to design a New-Style Lecture Scenario (NSLS), particularly in terms of some activities in which lectures would be supplemented by the use of a CMS and lecturers and students of FUTY would be engaged in the use of CMS as a support for teaching, learning and research activities if the scenario is implemented. This design reflects a way to reduce the problem of poor lecture attendance and also the problem of lack of up-to-date primary resource motivating materials among others for teaching, learning and research activities. By this, students will be encouraged and motivated to be engaged in lectures, even if they can not be present. This scenario is only feasible with the kind of large number of students at FUTY if supported by the use of a CMS.

We are dwelling in a world which technology has reduced to a global village and the breakthrough in technology is underpinning pedagogical submissions. It may become imperative therefore to have a rethinking on how to ameliorate the constraints of second language users through the applications of modern technologies. The interactions between new technology and pedagogical submissions have been found to an extent to be addressing the heterogeneous needs of second language learners and any global discovery which aims at minimizing learners' constraints is a welcome development in a rapidly changing world of technology. This paper therefore is an overview presentation of how modern technologies can be of assistance to both teachers and students of a second language setting. The rapid growth in ICT experienced by the technologically advanced nations of the world has helped them to overcome some of the barriers in teaching and learning. Applications of modern day's technologies in the field of teaching and learning can make it possible for teachers, students and others to join communities of people well beyond their immediate environment to critically review, analyze, contribute, criticize and organize issues logically and contextually having professionalism and the transformations of the entire society in view. Now, new technologies such as the reported computer enhancements with new software and networking make it much easier for educators to conquer space and time, with the motive of ameliorating constraints and academic conflicting issues. We can now bring learning to virtually any place on earth anytime for the purpose of achieving the desirable learning outcomes.
