The paper concludes with an overview of the possible negative consequences for China for not respecting IPRs.

All values, norms, meanings, and symbols in society are expressed through culture. Culture remains at the heart of interpersonal communication. We live in a culturally diverse world where people encounter people of other cultures, nationalities, religions, and beliefs on a daily basis. For this reason, an understanding of intercultural communication and the differences that arise from it is extremely important. In this context, it is quite possible that individuals encounter problems in interpersonal communication because they are unaware of the peculiarities of a culture other than their own. Therefore, in this paper we discuss intercultural communication in practice and introduce the concept of the so-called third culture based on literature research. The main aim of the article is to introduce the concept and thus contribute to the debate on theoretical approaches to the study of intercultural communication at Slovak universities.

As European society is becoming more and more multicultural and diverse, the issues of migration, asylum and people who choose to settle in Slovakia in hopes of improving their economic situation are becoming part of our everyday lives. This situation brings challenges but also enrichment to our societies. Nowadays, many new immigrants come to the European Union as migrant workers to fill vacancies on the labour market, to seek better employment opportunities or to join their families. In the context of the changing demographic situation in the European Union, characterised by an ageing population and low birth rates, analysts and observers predict that the EU Member States will have to rely increasingly on migration in order to sustain economic growth [3, p.8]. Many migrant workers fill precisely those jobs that require less education and which the local population is unwilling to cover. At the other end of the scale are highly skilled migrant workers who are employed in areas where there is a labour shortage on the local market. Migrants also come to Europe as a host country for other reasons, such as study or tourism. They stay in a country for varying lengths of time, sometimes settling permanently. The International Organization for Migration itself is based on the principle that humane and organized migration benefits both migrants and the society that receives them [1, p. 8]. Recently, the phenomenon of international migration has become one of the characteristic and increasingly intense manifestations of globalisation processes. Of the nearly 200 sovereign states in the world, almost all of them are source, transit, or destination territories for migrants, who have thus established themselves as an indispensable factor on the international stage. The movement of people between countries is facilitated by the removal of administrative barriers, increasing political and economic integration, widening access to the labour market, the development of transport infrastructure and information technology, social and demographic changes, family reunification and the building of social networks, growing transnationalism, the promotion of the protection of human rights, and so on. [1, p. 12]. Globalization has opened new opportunities for international business cooperation between people with different cultural, linguistic, economic, and social backgrounds. Among other things, cross-cultural management research argues that cultural knowledge and agility are crucial for successful adaptation of expatriates to the host culture [13, p. 363]. Since Slovakia has experienced a massive influx of foreign workforce from various parts of the world in recent years and according to official data there are 185,346 companies officially registered in the Slovak capital 1 [2,], we decided to use qualitative analysis in the form of personal interviews with foreigners who decided to come and establish themselves in Slovakia to find out what were the main motives and reasons why they had decided to come and work in Slovakia and whether 1 as of 16.4. 2023

The aim of the present work is to conduct a search of the scientific discourse that studies the migration flows induced by water issues. We applied commonly used scholarly methods such as analysis, description, content analysis, comparison, and analogy. The present study followed a qualitative methodology based on a review of publications in a number of SCOPUS and Web of Science (WoS) databases. Centred on the above scientific methods, we analysed the trends in the development of the approach of scientists to the studied topic.

Every day, both at work and in private life, we encounter people from different countries and cultures who are likely to hold different values and beliefs than we do. It is for this reason that intercultural competence is important-and essential in today's world. The present paper focuses on the perception and awareness of intercultural competence among expatriates living in Slovakia. In the first part of the paper, we discuss the theoretical concepts of intercultural competence. In the practical part, we evaluate the results of a questionnaire that aimed to determine the awareness and perception of CQ among expatriates living in Slovakia. The main findings, among others, show that despite the importance of the topic, expatriates in Slovakia do not consider themselves interculturally competent, as well as that they are not provided with sufficient training in this area on the employer's side. The paper concludes with practical recommendations.

For this reason, the development of intercultural competence in managers and employees is of significant importance. The primary objective of the presented paper is to accentuate the importance of intercultural competence in the global business environment. The article is divided into three parts, the aim of each part is to provide a comprehensive picture of intercultural competence and to present the issue under investigation to the readers in a coherent manner. The methodology of the paper is primarily based on search and subsequent analysis of the literature of chartered scholars dealing with issues of globalization, communication and interculturality. On the basis of the analysis of the available scientific literature, we can demonstrate the importance of intercultural competence, which should be an integral part of every person's professional competence.

The issue of migration is currently receiving a lot of attention-whether at regional, national or global level. It is currently a source of disagreement between people and political elites and is often discussed by the media, which deal with terms such as migrant or refugee. We consider these terms to be neutral in their inner essence, but they often evoke negative feelings. Therefore, in this article we want to find out what connotations the inhabitants of Slovakia attribute to this term. Our findings show that these are mainly feelings of dismay, incertitude and respect for the unknown. When dealing with refugees, the connotations are identical, but people begin to show feelings of sympathy and compassion. In spite of the fact that the term migrant refers, in general, to a person who has changed their habitual residence, the meaning acquires other attributes and connotations as we refer to sundry foreigners.
