This is due to the regeneration or development blueprint at the waterfront area in Malaysia are still lack in emphasis on the importance of cultural landscape as part of its development and design guideline. The objective of the study to exploring the factors faced by the local stakeholders in maintaining the landscape elements of Malay Culture in Pantai Lido. The study was conducted through qualitative research methods to dismantle the implementation gap that still exists in sustaining the cultural landscape elements in Pantai Lido. The findings determined the Malay cultural landscape elements at Pantai Lido is not able to cope with the massive wave of transformation due to tremendous pressures from the development and weaknesses in planning and design blueprint by responsible authorities. At this point, perhaps Pantai Lido needs proper management and references, sympathetic to the people living in the area, rather than facilitating the flow of gigantic development within the Malay cultural landscape core of Pantai Lido. Thus, it is essential to recognise that time change is inevitable; this continued strain on the waterfront requires a set of principles for governance be to develop that will ensure future sustainability.

The highest contribution was RM 500 000. The results also show that 30% of the respondents, were satisfied with the present situation of traditional village environment and 50% of the respondents stated that the government should be responsible for the cost of conservation of the Malay traditional village landscape.

Their lives were closely inter-twinned with nature for sustenance as well as for the spiritual and emotional comfort. They respect the natural world of the seen as well as the unseen. With the advent of Islam most of the animistic beliefs of the Malays have been discarded. However, the awe that the Malays have toward the forest or the river, the sea or the mountain is still a reminiscence of their ancestral beliefs. These beliefs have helped them survive the hostile environment they had evolved from and acquire a great deal of knowledge and understanding about their natural surrounding which has been handed down from generation to generation. Paved surfaces are one of the crucial elements that significantly influence the occurrence of urban heat island (UHI) phenomenon. All these surface paving elements vary in term of their ability to influence the arising of the surrounding temperature. It depends on the color, albedo, material, texture and so forth that demonstrated their capacity for storing, radiating, or emitting the heat from solar radiation. This research attempts in investigating the surface temperature of the diverse paving materials at two urban plazas which are Dataran Wawasan (exposed plaza) and Dataran Rakyat (partially shaded plaza) with some constant values such as same orientation, common resemblance of physical site context and dimension. As a result, this study shows the influences and significance of certain types of pavement surfaces that vary in term of its material, color, and texture towards the surrounding thermal environment of the studied sites and subsequently provide few recommendations through design initiatives that are feasible to mitigate the UHI effects in that particular areas. Keywords : Urbanization, urban heat island, pavement, thermal environment, glare

Meanwhile, in the Paris Agreement in 2015, the pledge was renewed to reduce the intensity of greenhouse gas emissions from Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by 45% in 2030. Thus, the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water (MEGTW) has launched a low carbon cities framework known as the ‘Low Carbon Cities Framework and Assessment System’ (LCCF) to realize the pledge. Following the launch, the Selangor State Government has determined that the LCCF be adopted in urban planning policies in all Selangor local authorities in order to contribute to a reduction in carbon emissions intensity. Bandar Baru Bangi is a city under the administration of the local authority of Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) which implements the LCCF project to achieve a carbon reduction target of 45%, subsequently emerging as a low carbon city that is ...

The paper attempts to evaluate the tourists’ attitude as well as responses towards the willingness-to-pay (WTP) value for GTWHS conservation. A total of 147 tourists at the George Town Conservation Zone area were interviewed in 2012. The questionnaire was developed based on the credible Contingent Valuation (CV) methodology. The results of the study have revealed that the attitude of the tourists was found to be positive on the importance of the non-use and their WTP value for the conservation of the world cultural heritage. The highest mean WTP value of the cultural heritage among the tourists was RM42.54 per visit and that a majority of 87% of the tourists have stated that they w...
