Firstly, we answer the question about elements which are always contained in the limit closure of a system of parameters. Then we apply it to give a characterization of systems of parameters which is a generalization of previous results of Dutta and Roberts in [11] and of Fouli and Huneke in [12]. We also prove a topological characterization of unmixed local rings. In two dimensional case, we compute explicitly the limit closure of a system of parameters. Some interesting examples are given.

Let i ≥ 0 be an integer. Following M. Brodmann and R. Y. Sharp [BS1], the i-th pseudo support of M is the set of all prime ideals p of R such that H i−dim(R/ p) p Rp (M p) = 0. In this paper, we study the pseudo supports and the non Cohen-Macaulay locus of M in connections with the catenarity of the ring R/ Ann R M, the Serre conditions on M, and the unmixedness of the local rings R/ p for certain prime ideals p in Supp R (M).

Data used in this paper are from Vietnam Household Living Standard Surveys 2002 and 2004. It is found that impact estimates of the production of crops and forestry on per capita income and consumption expenditure are not statistically significant. Impact estimates of the livestock production are positive and statistically significant for per capita income, but not statistically significant for per capita expenditure. However, the aquacultural production has positive and statistically significant impacts on both income and expenditure. As a result, the aquacultural production helps the producing households reduce the poverty incidence by 4.3 percentage points. It also decreases the poverty gap and poverty severity indexes of the producing households by around 13 percent and 15 percent, respectively. The ...

We use the splitting of local cohomology to shed a new light on the structure of non-Cohen-Macaulay modules. Namely, we show that every finitely generated $R$-module $M$ is associated by a sequence of invariant modules. This modules sequence expresses the deviation of $M$ with the Cohen-Macaulay property. This result generalizes the unmixed theorem of Cohen-Macaulayness for any finitely generated $R$-module. As an application we construct a new extended degree in sense of W. Vasconcelos.

They were elucidated as peridinin ( 1 ), peridininol ( 2 ), and all-trans-peridininol-5,8-furanoxide ( 3 ) by spectroscopic methods and in comparison with reported data. This is the first report of 3 from soft corals.

Some properties on q−weak co-sequences, co-standard sequences, multiplicity, local homology modules, localization, . . . , of these modules are presented. In this paper we consider filtrations of submodules of a module such that the dimension of each submodule in the filtration increases strictly, we say that these filtrations satisfy the dimension condition. With respect to such a filtration, we also give a notion of good system of parameters and show that these notions of filtration satisfying the dimension condition and good system of parameters may be useful to study the sequentially generalized Cohen-Macaulay property. Some charaterizations of modules having this property are presented by means of systems of parameters and of local cohomology modules also. MIRAMARE – TRIESTE September 2005 Senior Associate of ICTP. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic data.

An integrated database is an important platform that provides information for destinations in smart tourism development. In line with current tourism development needs, a database should be built in the direction of integrating the largest information possible. The information contained in it should cover many aspects of the visitors' requirements including location and spatial relations as well as object specification features. In order to have a truly smart tourism environment, certain investments in database development are really necessary for localities that want to develop this trend. The database is built for smart tourism based on GIS (Geographic Information Systems) is a new direction with the development of IT infrastructure, not outside of building smart cities.

An explicit formula is proved for the extremal case. We apply the main result to compute Hilbert polynomials of socle ideals of standard parameter ideals.

A famous result of Northcott says that if M is Cohen-Macaulay, then the index of reducibility of parameter ideals on M is an invariant of the module. The aim of this paper is to extend Northcott's theorem for any finitely generated R-module. We call this invariant the stable value of the indices of reducibility of parameter ideals of M. We also introduce the limit value of the indices of reducibility of parameter ideals of M. Recently, the above results were extended for the classes of sequentially (generalized) Cohen-Macaulay modules and for parameter ideals generated by good systems of parameters in [17, 20].

Cell viability was determined using the trypan blue exclusion method. Indirubin-3′-oxime (I-1) inhibited the growth of HL-60 cells with a GI50 value of 36.6 μM, whereas I-0, I-2, I-3, I-4 and I-6 showed only weak cytotoxic activities against HL-60 cancer cells with GI50 values in the range of 97.3 to over 100 μM. These results indicate that indirubin derivatives might be useful candidate agents for exploring potential antileukemic drugs.

Based on an in vitro test against Coxsackie viruses A16 by SRB assay, only compounds 2, 5, and 10 exhibited activity against Coxsackie viruses A16 with IC50 values of 40.1, 32.2, and 30.5 μM, respectively. This result suggested that compounds 2, 5, and 10 might be potential agents for treating hand, foot and mouth diseases.
