For the purpose of this article we called this group non-English-speaking users. Since the available information in the Arabic language is not up to date in many disciplines, especially in science and technology, the users tend to rely on information sources published in other languages, mainly English. Moreover, at the University of Bahrain, the composition of faculty, whose members come from 25 different countries, put some pressure on students to use information sources other than those using the Arabic language for their research needs, such as for research methodologies, designing of experiments, review of related research, etc. In the past, owing to their language limitations, non-Englishspeaking users were often not inclined to refer to printed sources for their research needs. With the advent of recent technological advancement, information has now become available not only as printed sources but also in machine-readable formats: tapes, diskettes, online databases and CD-ROMs. Of these formats, the CD-ROM offers tremendous potential to third-world countries[1].With the availability of information on CD-ROMs this particular group of users is encouraged to use the non-Arabic (English) information sources. At the University of Bahrain we subscribe to more than 80 different CD-ROM databases of the most frequently used bibliographical tools, such as ABI Inform,

Anticipates the development of an all‐sources database accessible through all public search‐and‐retrieval terminals.

In order to determine if this assumption is valid, a study was conducted by analysing 1000 articles from the Science Citation Index k and Social Sciences Citation Inde®. These articles were selected in ten different disciplines by using a purposive sampling technique. Various Spearman's Correlation Coefficient tests were computed to find out if a subject relationship existed between the Articles which have the same keywords in their titles (Parent Articles and Related Records). Through the analysis the hypothesis has been veri fied showing that there is a relationship between the articles which are citing the same references. This was determined by co-occurrences of the same keywords among the shared refer ences. However, there are some unique differences in the science and the social science disciplines that exist in these two databases.
