Genetics has a proven role in autism but many studies suggests role of various environmental factors. This has lead parents to create their own peceptions regarding the causal factors of autism in their children. The present study was conducted to determine the Perceptions regarding precipitating factors of Autism among Caregivers of Autistic Children and Adolescents visiting Health Facilities in Lucknow City. Methodology: It was a cross sectional study conducted on 90 principal caregivers of diagnosed autistic children and adolescents visiting government and private care centres for autism in Lucknow city. Result: The age at which the caregivers perceived the autistic symptoms in their child ranged from 6 months to 84 months. While, the age at which diagnosis of autism was made ranged from 6 months to 191 months. Majority (54.4%) of the caregivers didn"t know what could be the probable cause of Autism in their children. Caregivers of 14.4% children perceived that the health issues which preceded the autistic symptoms and complications in the neonatal period like poor cry, birth asphyxia, meconium aspiration etc. were perceived to be the cause of autism by 13.3% caregivers in their children. Conclusion: The knowledge of Autism problem per se is at its infancy in India especially among the parents. The absence of clear explanation about the causative factors for autism, has led to the development of many theories among caregivers regarding the causative factors of autism. This study showed lack of understanding about autism among the parents of autistic children and adolescents. This lack of understanding could be the root cause of delay in the diagnosis of autism of their children.

PIL seeks to ensure accountability on the part of those in power, and socio-economic and collective justice for the general public, by giving priority of public interest over individual or special interests. Considering the socio-economic realities of Bangladesh, there is a huge potential for PIL to aid the poor, the deprived and the un-represented. In Bangladesh, the development of PIL began to accelerate after the fall of the last autocratic regime in 1990. The Supreme Court has gradually reinterpreted the Constitution in favour of PIL. Socio-economic and collective justice principles of the Constitution, it has been declared, not only inspire but mandate a PIL approach. However, the development of PIL in Bangladesh has not been a justice-focused grass-root movement. The thesis argues that the use of PIL in Bangladesh has been dominated by an elite whose main c...

Implementing optical circulators in silicon photonics enables bidirectional use of the light path for both transmitters and receivers, which simplifies the system configuration and thereby promises low system cost. In this work, to the best of our knowledge, we present the first experimental verification of all-passive silicon photonics conditional circulators for monostatic LiDAR systems using a nonlinear switch. The proposed silicon nonlinear interferometer is realized by controlling signal power distribution with power-splitting circuits, allowing the LiDAR transmitter and receiver to share the same optical path. Unlike the traditional concept requiring a permanent magnet, the present device is implemented by using common silicon photonic waveguides and a standard foundry-compatible fabrication proces...

Objectives: The objective is to study the quality of life of principal caregivers of autistic children and adolescents visiting health facilities in Lucknow city. Materials and Methods: The sample included 90 principal caregivers (aged < 60 years) of autistic children and adolescents aged 3–19 years and diagnosed with autism, attending government and private health facilities providing treatment for autism in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India. Results: The quality of life of principal caregivers was found to be influenced most in the physical health domain (with least score). The predictors of quality of life of principal caregivers were type of family and knowledge regarding child's problem. Conclusion and Recommendations: Thus, there is ...

The coater was set up in laboratory with low cost investment. The films were calcined at 450 °C for 1 hour. For characterization, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Energy Dispersive X-Ray Analysis (EDX), X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) were carried out. LCR Bridge - GW Instek LCR-821 was used for gas sensing applications. XPS showed that the change of electronic structure due to Y doping. SEM and AFM analysis were carried out to determine the surface morphology of the films. Yttrium (Y) decreased the crystallite size of the films and increased the surface roughness and porosity value, which was very good for many sensing applications. Gas sensing property of the deposited films were improved by the incorporation of yttrium impurities and the sensing property improved almost two times than pure TiO2 thin film. Different re...

However despite efforts by various health care facilities to promote the nurses' practice on nursing process, its utilization is still poor. Therefore, this study was undertaken to determine the utilization of nursing process among nurses in selected health care facilities in Kenya. This study was conducted among 249 nurses from five selected health care facilities in Kenya. The nurses were observed as they provided nursing care to patients, with observation checklists being used to enter the collected data. The study results showed that only about 29% (71) of the respondents were able to carry out their procedures and document according to the steps of nursing process. In conclusion utilization of nursing process among the respondents was poor. This is a situation which called for further measures to be instituted to promote utilization of the nursing process in the provision of nursing care.

Perceived burden and care for the child with autism, available forms of social support, and the interactions between the autistic child and other family members are areas of significant concern for families. Objective: The objective of this study was to determine the burden of care perceived by the principal caregivers of autistic children or adolescent visiting health facilities in Lucknow city. Methods: The cross-sectional study was conducted from October 2016 to September 2017 with a sample of 90 principal caregivers (aged <60 years) of autistic children and adolescents aged 3–19 years and diagnosed with autism, attending government and private health facilities providing treatment for autism in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India. Validated tools were used to assess the burden of care and disability level of autistic children. Data were analyzed using the software SPSS version 16. Results: The caregivers of autistic children and adolescents perceived the burden of care in different domains in varying extent with “caregiver's routine” and “taking responsibility” domains affected the most. The burden perceived was found to be affected by the permanent residence of caregiver, rural/urban dwelling, type of family, socioeconomic status, age at which diagnosis was made, knowledge about autism and the severity of autism. Conclusions: Availability and easy accessibility of autism treatment facilities must be the most probable reason for less burden perceived in three domains, by caregivers of urban settings and those belonging to Lucknow. Furthermore, better knowledge on autism and family and friends' support led to decrease in the burden perceived by the caregivers in various domains. Thus, it was found that the burden perceived can be reduced by universal availability of evidence-based early diagnosis and treatment of autism and improving the knowledge of caregivers about autism.

Particularly the regions adjacent to cathode and anode are modeled in MATLAB. The effect of system impedance on arc current has been considered. A numerical model of near electrode physics is solved to predict the arc behavior with the design parameters like electrode materials, pressure, impedance etc. With this model we can identify the interface behavior of plasma and electrode; this is done by identifying the layers like sheath and ionization based on the temperature distribution. This model solves the equations of cathode region (cathode surface, sheath and ionization zone) and anode region (Anode surface, sheath and ionization zone) to evaluate their effect on the total arc voltage in a 2-D simulation (z, t) in MATLAB. The same can be extended to 4-D simulation (x,y,z,t) with CFD tools for which work is in progress.

Many studies about the nutritional content and the physico-chemical characteristics of red pitaya have been performed but microorganisms that occurred naturally in the fruit remained unknown. Therefore, this study was conducted to characterize the enterococci present in red pitaya. Enterococci were isolated from red pitaya fruit and characterized with biochemical tests, randomly amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) and restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) of the 16S rDNA region. A total of 30 bacteria were isolated from red pitaya, of which 20 isolates were confirmed as enterococci, genus Enterococcus. 13 isolates were further confirmed as Enterococcus casseliflavus and 7 were identified as Enterococcus gallinarum.
