The experiment was laid out in RCBD (Randomized Complete Block Design) with four replications. The material was consisted of eight varieties viz. CRIS-134, AA-802, Neelum-121, CIM-598, MNH-886, FH-113, BT-142 and CRIS-342. The observations were recorded on eight plant traits. The ANOVA revealed that there is a significant difference for all the traits except for seed index. Based on mean performance, variety CRIS-342 produced desirable medium taller plants, ginned maximum lint%, formed more sympodia plant-1, set higher bolls plant-1, measured longer fiber and produced higher yield plant-1, yet next good performing genotype was FH-113. However, bigger bolls were weighed by Neelum-121. The phe...

Ten wheat genotypesincluding two new strains, PBGST-3, Hero, Bhittai, Marvi, Inqlab, Sarsabz, Abadgar, Kiran, Khirman andPBGST-4 were sown in split plot design with factorial arrangement in four replications at ExperimentalField, Department of Plant Breeding & Genetics, Sindh Agricutlure University, Pakistan during 2012-13.The results revealed that water stress caused significant reductions in all morpho-physiological traits. Thegenotypes differed significantly for all the yield and physiological traits. The interaction of treatments ×genotypes were also significant for all the traits except plant height, productive tillers/plant, grains/spikeand harvest index, were non-significant which indicated that cultivars responded variably over the stress treatments suggesting that breeders can select the promising genoty...

Four lines were crossed with 4 testers and 16 F2 populations were obtained for evaluation for determining combining ability and heritability estimates. The trials were laid-out in RCBD with four replications during 2013 and 2014. Combined analysis revealed that genotypes performed differently over the years; however genotype × year interactions were non-significant for majority of the traits. Mean squares for lines and testers were significant, indicating the importance of GCA with additive genes while lines × tester interactions implied the importance of SCA with dominant genes. The lines, Sadori and CIM-573 and testers FH-113 and IR-1524 were good general combiners hence showed their suitability for hybridization and selection programmes. Degree of dominance was higher than unity which suggested the prevalence of dominant genes. The heritability estimates were ge...

The trial was laid-out in a Randomized Complete Block Design with four replications. The material was consisted of eight parents and ten F2 populations. The analysis of variance revealed significant differences among the parents and F2 populations for all the traits studied except that fibre length was non-significant in parents. The results further suggested that maximum heritability, higher genetic variances coupled with more genetic gains were expressed by the F2 populations CRIS-134 ´ CRIS-508 and CRIS-134 ´ CIM-598 for 1st sympodial node number; CRIS-134 ´ Neelum- 121 and CRIS-134 ´ CRIS-508 for sympodial branches/plant; CRIS-342 ´ FH-113 for boll weight; CRIS- 342 ´ Neelum-121 for bolls/plant, seed cotton yield/plant, lint % and mic...

Correspondingly, air pollution monitoring systems are urgently needed. Mobile, autonomous monitoring can provide adaptive and higher spatial resolution compared with traditional monitoring stations and allows fast deployment and operation in adverse environments. We present a mobile robot solution for autonomous gas detection and gas distribution mapping using remote gas sensing. Our “Autonomous Remote Methane Explorer” ([Formula: see text]) is equipped with an actuated spectroscopy-based remote gas sensor, which collects integral gas measurements along up to 30 m long optical beams. State-of-the-art 3D mapping and robot localization allow the precise location of the optical beams to be determined, which then facilitates gas tomography (tomographic reconstruction of local gas distributions from sets of integral gas measurements). To autonomously ...

Gametocytes are the sexual forms of the parasite that are essential for transmission. They fuse inside the mosquito to develop sporozoites. Gametocytes of the plasmodium parasites, which cause the infection, differentiate into male and female gametocytes. These gametocytes constitute the sexual stage of the malaria parasite and are essential in transmission of the disease from human to vector Anopheles. Gametocytes are affected by factors such as host immunity, drug treatment, reticulocytemia, anemia, low levels of asexual parasitemia and stress to the parasite. The aim of this study was to observe the hematological parameters, age and gametocyte carriage in an area of seasonal malaria transmission.

Previously we evaluated differential expression of multiple genes involved in growth plate angiogenesis and reported the safety and efficacious of medicinal plant root extracted for controlling TD. In this study, clinical and protective effect of an antibiotic Novobiocin (Hsp90 inhibitor) and expression of Hsp90 and proteoglycan aggrecan was examined. The chicks were divided into three groups; Control, thiram-induced TD, and Novobiocin injected TD. After the induction of TD, the Novobiocin was administered through intraperitoneal route to TD-affected birds until the end of the experiment. The expressions and localization of Hsp90 were evaluated by qRT-PCR, immunohistochemistry (IHC) and western blot, respectively. Morphological, histological examinations, and serum biomarker levels were evaluated to assess specificity and protective effects of Novobioc...

The fruits have gained the substantial attention among researchers due to its promising biological activities including anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antidiarrheal, immune modulatory, antitumor, wound healing and antifungal that have been attributed to various constituents of seeds, bark, juice, pericarp and leaf of this tree across the globe. The phenolic compounds of pomegranate have been documented to possess numbers of prophylactic and therapeutic utilities against various pathological infections as well as non-infectious disorders. The current review expedites the pharmacological role of Punica granatum L. in curing elements related to infectious and non-infectious disorders. Commencing a thorough review of the published literature and patents available on Punica granatum and its therapeutic role in countering infectious disorders present review is prepared by using various publish...

A promising solution for a range of real-world applications are gas-sensitive mobile robots with spectroscopy-based remote sensors that are used to create a tomographic reconstruction of the gas distribution. The quality of these reconstructions depends crucially on the chosen sensing geometry. In this paper we address the problem of sensor planning by investigating sensing geometries that minimize reconstruction errors, and then formulate an optimization algorithm that chooses sensing configurations accordingly. The algorithm decouples sensor planning for single high concentration regions (hotspots) and subsequently fuses the individual solutions to a global solution consisting of sensing poses and the shortest path between them. The proposed algorithm compares favorably to a template matching technique in a simple simulation and in a real-world experiment. In the latter, we also compare the proposed sensor planning strategy to the sensing strategy of a human expert and find indications that the quality of the reconstructed map is higher with the proposed algorithm.

We report a case of post-traumatic, direct high flow carotid cavernous fistula that resolved spontaneously 06 weeks after carotid angiography. It however, resulted in loss of vision due to delay in early treatment. In the cases of post-traumatic proptosis, carotid cavernous fistula should be kept in mind.

Management included topical and intravitreal moxifloxacin. The intravitreal injection was given at the time of presentation and then was repeated after 48 hours when lens aspiration and anterior vitrectomy was performed. The patient showed a rapid recovery, and achieved 6/6 vision following surgery. To our knowledge this is the first reported case of therapeutic use of intravitreal moxifloxacin in a human case of acute post traumatic endophthalmitis. Presentation of Case: We report a case of a twenty one year old male referred to us with two days history of penetrating injury in left eye due to a piece of metallic wire. After five days of hospitalization, he was discharged with 6/6 partial best corrected vision. Consent: The patient and his family have given informed consent for the publication of this case report.
