The Supracrustal metasediments mica schist and lenticular lenses of amphibolites overlies uncomfortable these gneisses and migmatites. The acidic intrusive felsite and quartzite intruded due to the regional dynamic metamorphism. Theamphibolite rocks indicated different petrogenesis displaying three mineral generations confirmed the polymetamorphism. The first cycle of metamorphism represented by the oldest units, is of medium- to high-grade. This cycle associated by NW-SW, NE-SW trending fractures. The second cycle affects the pile and the Supracrustal metasediments; is of low-grade metamorphism grade. The third cycle which of dynamic nature affected all sequence units in the study area, is of greenschist facies conditions, generated the deformational shearing episode with NE-SW, NNE-SSW and rarely NW-SE and N-S trend. The relationships between the metamorphism and structures in the area app...

This study was conducted to analyze profitability and efficiency of hay and grass seed value chain in order to inform efforts aimed at increasing benefits from fodder production for improved household livelihoods in the rangelands of southern Kenya. Data was collected through household interviews, key informant interviews and focus groups discussions. The findings indicate that hay and grass seed production is a profitable venture in the study areas. However, the producers generally gained less from the sale of their produce compared to other actors in the market, particularly the traders. This could be attributed to the informal and unregulated nature of the fodder market which gives the traders undue advantage ove...

The presentation usually reflects the underline immunodeficiency state (like opportunistic infections and chronic diarrhea, and enlarged lymph nodes). The most common causes for 3rd cranial nerve palsy are intracranial aneurysm, ischemia, trauma, and migraine. But for our case, it turned out to be associated with underline HIV and BL, which is an unusual cause. Here, we present a 43-year-old gentleman with no past medical history presented to the emergency department with 4 days history of drooping of left eyelid and headache and binocular diplopia with no other neurological features. CT abdomen showed lymph node enlargement. Lymph node biopsy showed the characteristic of Burkitt’s cell lymphoma. He was started on chemotherapy, but unfortunately, he died. We’re enlightening this case of an isolated oculomotor nerve palsy to diagnose lethal pathology like disseminated BL.

Imaging data was obtained, with histologically-confirmed appendicitis cases comprising the bulk of the study. An initial audit e encompassing the period from January 2007 to December 2016 e was undertaken in April 2019. Our findings cited two cardinal recommendations, namely: that a CT abdomen be performed in all patients over the age of 45 e with a histopathologically-confirmed appendicitis e prior to their appendicectomy, and that a colonoscopy be performed on all patients in the aforementioned group, within 1 year, post-operatively. Adherence to our proposal was audited from October 2019 e February 2020. Results: Of the 57 patients who underwent a post-operative colonoscopy e median follow-up 4 months e only 22.8% were for post-appendicectomy examination. 4 patients were found to have proximal colonic polyps, whilst 1 patient was found to have ascending colon cancer e identified 5 months post-appendicectomy. The reaudit conveyed e of the 62 patients >45 years old, who had appendicectomies e 83.3% underwent a pre-operative CT. Indeed, 63.7% had colonoscopies scheduled at 6 weeks, post-operatively, however, only 18.2% had the procedure e all of which were normal. Conclusion: The findings from our rural DGH can help guide more apt bowel cancer care, pertaining to peri-operative imaging and endoscopic investigations. Whilst imaging recommendations were adhered to well, post-operative colonoscopies were not.

In the UK, vasectomy reversal is not usually licensed under the NHS with reports on outcomes being limited. Microsurgical reversal is a technique commonly performed under the operating microscope. Loupe magnification, however, is emerging as a safe and reliable technique to perform microsurgery. Method: Loupe-assisted microsurgical vasovasotomies were performed on 14 men in a 3-year period. Indications for the procedure were for fertility only. Semen analysis variables were measured against European Association of Urologists (EAU) guidelines at six weeks. Patients were followed-up at clinic in three months. Data were collated using operation notes and cytology results, and analysed using descriptive statistics. Pearson's correlation coefficient was used to compare years after vasectomy, and age to sperm count. Results: The average sperm count in our group was 41.3 million per millilitre (median 29.95, range 2.7-107.8) at 6 weeks. Seventy-five per cent were found to have positive sperm motility, and all had acceptable sperm morphology at follow-up. A very low to weak correlation between time after vasectomy and age, with sperm count. Conclusion: We have demonstrated that fertility and post-operative outcomes using a loupeassisted microsurgical vasovasotomy approach are favourable as per EAU guidelines.

For this purpose, copper is one of the most used materials for shielding applications. Plastic deformation at the macroscopic scale generates at the microscopic scale many moving dislocations (internal stresses) affecting the efficiency of the electromagnetic shielding. However, the plastic deformation which affects the electrical properties ensuring the shielding properties is still badly known and should be more studied and constitutes a promising research field. The main objective of this work is to study the effect of the copper plastic deformation on its electromagnetic shielding efficiency in the ]0-1GHz] frequency range. A series of electromagnetic shielding experiments was carried out by means of an Electro Magnetic Dual Transverse Cell (DTEM), on copper samples with a purity level of 99 % i) without plastic deformation ii) deformed with a rate of 2 % and 3 %. The results obtained clearly shown the variation of the electromagnetic shielding efficiency as a function of the copper plastic deformation rate.

Albeit it is a benign tumor, the diagnosis is frequently challenging with insurmountable difficulties as it might be erroneously diagnosed as a malignancy. Herein we are reporting a large-sized MFB presented as a non-tender, firm mass which interestingly was adherent to the skin and was initially thought as cancer. The patient underwent a wide local excision and histology confirmed MFB, and had no evidence of recurrence up to 8 months post-operatively.

Previous studies indicate that factors determining participation in these practices vary from time to time and from one location to another. This study was conducted to assess the socioeconomic and demographic factors influencing households' participation in fodder production in Makueni and Kajiado Counties. Data was collected from 216 households through interviews using semi-structured questionnaire. Results indicate that gender of household head, education, social/development group membership and access to extension services were the most important factors influencing households' participation in fodder production. There is need for technical support to the pastoral and agro-pastoral households towards starting and/or joining existing social groups, through which extension and training services can be offered. This would go a long way in enhancing fodder production in the arid and semi-arid lands of Kenya.

Schrenk's method has been used for estimating the span-wise lift distribution, while the tail weight was assumed to be uniformly distribution along the span. Hence, the shear force and bending moment diagrams have been obtained. Accordingly, the working shear and bending stresses within the flight envelope have been calculated. The design has been based on the limit load while the maximum bending and shear values are encountered at the tail root, with the gust load being neglected. The bending and shear margins are found to be positive along the semi-span/height, which shows good enough strength.
