Patients and methods The present study included 16 adult OSA patients who presented to the Otolaryngology outpatient clinic of the Suez Canal University Hospital. Exclusion criteria included previous significant facial trauma, head or neck cancer, previous surgery (including tonsillectomy or adenoidectomy), previous radiation therapy to head or neck, known diagnosis of peripheral neuropathy, any implanted device (nerve stimulator, implanted pump, pacemaker, and defibrillator), and known pregnancy. All patients were subjected to an assessment protocol that included thorough assessment of history (age, sex, snoring, nasal obstruction, and excessive daytime sleepiness), clinical examinations [BMI, apnea/hypopnea index (AHI), Friedman tongue position (FTP), and Mallampati grading], and electrophysiological stu...

The presented amplifier uses load modulation principle to achieve high efficiency over 11 dB output dynamic range. The output matching network is an L matching network with a tunable inductor and a tunable capacitor. The tunable inductor is based on a λ/4 impedance inverter and

This antenna diplexer has three functions, the main function is filtering for two band groups, the second function is matching between two impedance levels and the third function is differential to single ended mode conversion. This chip together with multichip packaging module technique enables a dual band group WiMedia UWB radio on full silicon RFIC. The diplexer is based on two 6th order elliptic filters. The simulated diplexer has an insertion loss of 3.5 dB in both bands and common mode suppression of around 15 dB for the low band and around 20 dB for the high band. The chip size is 1.65 mm times 1.65 mm.

A 20 Watt inverse class-D amplifier at 1 GHz was designed and measured, with a maximum power added efficiency of 78%. Through using load modulation the amplifier can achieve a power added efficiency greater

The median age (55.9 years) is younger than reported by others. Two patients were below the age of 40 years with one of them presenting as post-polycytheamia ET at 16 years of age. Twelve patients (57.1 %) remained asymptomatic throughout the period of follow up. Four patients complained of erythromelalgia, three (19 %) suffered from thrombotic episodes and only one (4.3 %) had excessive bleeding. Four patients presented with splenomegaly. Intensity of thrombocytosis or duration of very high platelet count had no relationship with these complications. Two patients transformed to post-ET myelofibrosis and one patient developed chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML). None transitioned to acute leukaemia. All patients are still alive after follow up for 6-16 years. Janus kinase 2 mutation was positive in eight (38 %) patients. It had no bearing on transition of our ET patients to post-ET myelofibrosis or CML. Platelet aggregation tests were performed in 14 patients. Six (42.9 %) showed defective response to ADP. Only one of these patients suffered from bleeding. All patients were given aspirin (81 mg/day). Cyto-reductive therapy with hydroxyurea was taken by six (42.9 %) subjects. Two patients who were treated with anagrelide and one with alpha-interferon did not continue treatment for long.

A key parameter in designing a ZigBee frontend is low power consumption, such that the maximum time of operation can be achieved with the available energy. Particularly, the RF Frontend has an important role, since most of the energy is consumed there.

The quantum yields were found to be between0.0010and 0.13 at pH ¼ 7. In the MP UV/H 2 O 2 oxidation, the pseudo first-order rate constants for the selected compounds were found to be dependent on their initial concentrations (at mg/L levels) and on the H 2 O 2 concentration. The UV doses required for 50% and 90% removal at various H 2 O 2 levels varied widely among the compounds tested. Second-order rate constants (ranging from 4.1 Â 10 9 to 1.4 Â 10 10 M À1 s À1) for the reaction between the selected compounds and hydroxyl radicals were determined using a competition-kinetics approach, where para-chlorobenzoic acid (pCBA) was chosen as the reference compound. Further, as an evaluation of electrical energy efficiency, the Figure-of-Merit, Electrical Energy per Order (E EO) was determined for the selected compounds using a batch reactor at 25 and 50 mg/L H 2 O 2 concentrations. The electrical energy (in kWh) required to reduce a pollutant concentration by 90% ranged from 1.3 to 7.1 kWh m À3 .

Involvement of CNS occurs in 4-48% of cases. This study was designed to evaluate the prevalence of subclinical neuropsychiatric affection in asymptomatic Egyptian BD patients using psychometric tests and brain imaging with single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), also to assess possibly associated clinical predictive variables. Twentyfive BD patients without overt CNS involvement and ten healthy controls matched for age, education, and sex completed a comprehensive neuropsychological battery including Hamilton scales for anxiety and depression and Wechsler memory scale-revised. Disease activity was assessed using Behçet's Disease Current Activity Form (BDCAF). SPECT was done for all subjects, and 12 patients underwent brain MRI. Compared to controls, 23 (92%) and 24 (96%) patients had anxiety and depression scores respectively above normal range; also, BD patients had significantly lower memory quotient (MQ). SPECT revealed abnormalities in 16/25 (64%), while in 3/12 patients (25%), MRI was abnormal. Subjects with abnormal SPECT had significantly higher ages than those with normal SPECT (P=0.02) and were more frequently males (P=0.03). No statistically significant differences between cases with normal or abnormal SPECT were found regarding disease duration, frequency of headache, BDCAF, frequency of active eye disease, major vascular involvement, mean Hamilton anxiety and depression scores, and mean MQ. Early diagnosis of neurological involvement in BD is important in reducing or preventing complications. Neuropsychiatric evaluation and HMPAO brain SPECT were found to be useful for detecting subclinical neurological abnormalities in BD patients.
