Ready-to-eat breakfast cereal with nuts was made by mixing different processed grains like wheat,... more Ready-to-eat breakfast cereal with nuts was made by mixing different processed grains like wheat, barley, rice, corn with almonds, walnuts and dry skimmed milk powder according to recipe. Antioxidants Butylated hydroxy anisole (BHA) and Butylated hydroxyl toluene (BHT) were used for almonds and walnuts at 0.02% levels. The effect of packaging materials like Bi-Oriented polypropylene (BOPP), High density polyethylene (HDPE) and Aluminium foil were observed. The chemical analysis such as moisture, protein, fat, ash, fiber and carbohydrates of the product were determined. Since moisture, rancidity, acidity, and peroxide value are main factors which affect the storage life of breakfast cereals, so these factors were measured at intervals of 15 days up to six months. During storage, sensory evaluation for color, taste, flavor, mastication and overall aceptability were also evaluated. The data thus obtained was statistical analyzed and best treatment was chosen. It was concluded that moisture, acidity and peroxide value of the product were increased with the passage of time. The moisture absorption was least in Aluminium foil due to its moisture barrier properties. The acidity was increased due to oxidation of fats and peroxide value due to increase in hydro peroxides. The treatment BHT (0.02%) in Aluminium foil performed best in enhancing shelf life by inhibiting molecular oxidation of fats present in the product. The treatment BHA/ BHT (0.02%) in Aluminium foil also enhanced shelf life of the product.
The interaction between particle size and resin content is one of the most important structural p... more The interaction between particle size and resin content is one of the most important structural parameters that can influence the accuracy of predictions about wood-composite properties. We developed three kinds of equation (linear, quadratic, and exponential) for each mechanical property of particleboard based on slenderness ratio and resin content at a constant density (0.7g·cm−3). Results from SHAZAM software (version 9) suggested that the quadratic function was not significant, but the linear and exponential functions were significant. The interaction between particle size and resin content was analyzed by Maple 9 software. The results indicated that an exponential function can better describe the simultaneous effect of slenderness and resin content than a linear equation. Under constant resin content, particles with higher slenderness ratios increased more in modulus of rupture (MOR) and modulus of elasticity (MOE) than did particles with lower slenderness ratios. Edge withdrawal resistance (SWRe) values did not increase with increasing slenderness ratio.

As the vasopeptidase inhibitor (VPI) omapatrilat improves insulin sensitivity, it may be beneficial peri-MI in Zucker Insulin Resistant rats (ZIR). ZIR rats (n = 228) received omapatrilat 10 mg/kg/day, 7 days pre-MI, to 38 days post-MI, or control. Twenty-four protocol (n = 72): a subgroup of rats received the kinin receptor antagonist icatibant. Ambulatory ECG recordings, and MI size were evaluated. Thirty-eight-day protocol (n = 156): left ventricular (LV) remodeling, cardiac hemodynamics, morphology, infarct size, and RT-PCR for GLUT-4 and fetal genes were measured. Omapatrilat improved post-MI survival 24 h (62% vs 38%, P = 0.0007) which was maintained 38 days. There was a kinin-induced reduction of ventricular arrhythmias and there appeared to be a kinin-independent reduction in MI size (23.5 ± 2.4% vs 17.0 ± 2.2%, P = 0.053) for 24-h post-MI. Omapatrilat reduced but did not prevent LV dilatation, dysfunction, and fetal gene expression 38 days post-MI. Omapatrilat did not prevent reduced cardiac GLUT-4 expression. In ZIR rats, mortality post-MI is reduced by omapatrilat, due and a kinin-dependent reduction in ventricular arrhythmias and possibly a kinin-independent reduction in MI size. Ventricular dilatation, dysfunction, and fetal gene expression are variably attenuated but not prevented.

The patient was successfully treated with thrombolytic therapy. Physicians should be aware that thrombotic events may be observed after the administration of certain chemotherapeutic agents, particularly cisplatin.
