This study was conducted using COPD Self-Efficacy Scale to determine the effectiveness of the patient empowerment intervention program among chronic obstructive pulmonary disease patients on self-efficacy. We employed an interventional design with a pre-test and post-test. Sixty COPD patients comprised the final sample of the study. The current study revealed significant improvement in overall self-efficacy factors among most participants. Statistically significant positive correlations were found between the total self-efficacy post-empower intervention model scores concerning age, sex, work, educational level, and marital status. The study’s findings revealed that the patient empowerment intervention program positively affected COPD patients’ self-efficacy.

Theories have offered support that the learning place affects a student’s academic achievement, performance, and future career markedly. Assessment of students’ satisfaction with and perception of their learning environment is an important indicator in most universities and institutions. This study aimed to evaluate the perception of the learning environment of medical undergraduates and interns at Umm Al-Qura University (UQU) and compare between the old and reformed curriculum participants. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted at the College of Medicine at UQU, Makkah, Saudi Arabia. A total of 390 medical undergraduates and interns from the College of Medicine were invited to complete the Dundee Ready Educational Environment Measure questionnaire in the form of an online survey. Results: A total of 390 medical undergr...

This study aims to determine the level of depression, anxiety, and stress, and associated factors among undergraduate health science students in Abha, Saudi Arabia. Methods: A cross-sectional, descriptive study was conducted at health science departments in Al-Ghad International Colleges (GIC) and King Khalid University (KKU). A pretested self-administered questionnaire was completed by a convenient sample of 350 students. The Scale 21 (DASS-21) inventory of Depression, Anxiety, and Stress was used. Results: There were 60% female and 40% male students in the study. Most students reported mild to extremely severe symptoms of depression (47.2%), anxiety (56%), and stress (39.1%). KKU students displayed more depression (52%) than GIC students (42.3%) with a statistically significant difference (p=0.026). The findings showed that the relationship between depression and anxiety (r=0.781, p<0.01), depression and stress (r=0.693, p<0.01), stress and anxiety (r=o.794, p<0.01) was positive. A study found that depression, anxiety, and stress scores were significantly higher among female and second-year and below students. Conclusions: It can be inferred that among health science students, depression, anxiety, and stress are prevalent. It is critical to improve mental health among undergraduate students. The results suggest that psychological problem assessment and therapy services for undergraduate students should be implemented. We suggest more research studies to get a better understanding of the experience of students with psychological problems based on the study outcomes.

In addition, the important causes of tuberculosis (TB) resistance prevalence are discussed, and the need for further research in the development of MDR-TB resistance is evaluated. To evaluate the current status of MDR-TB in Saudi Arabia, data from previous studies of MDR-TB in Saudi Arabia were collected and compared with data collected worldwide regarding the same disease. In the study, various factors that affect the prevalence of MDR-TB were considered, and a brief review of MDR-TB complications is given. Many causes of MDR-TB prevalence in Saudi Arabia are illegal immigration, the misuse of antibiotics by the patients, and the incorrect prescription by the healthcare providers.

The performance of 14 Saudi elite athletes in different sports, the authors collected data by measuring EMG using DELESYS, one of the leading products in electrical activity measuring equipment by conducting vertical and long jump test, the main experiment was conducted on November 2019 in the biomechanics lab located inside the Biomechanics and Motor Behavior Department of the College of Sport Sciences and Physical Activity at King Saud University. The results of this study included that femoral muscles contributed most during the long jump test, tibial muscles contributed most during the vertical jump test, all muscles except for the anterior tibial muscle had high contribution rates in the long and vertical jump tests.

Smoking has a negative influence on the healing of soft tissue after periodontal therapy; there is no clear assessment of smokings influence on the healing of bony defects after periodontal treatment. The aims of this study to determine whether the level of A-PRF (FGF-2) is affected by smoking. Blood samples were collected from the Riyadh Elm university (REU) patients (30 total samples). The amount of growth factors released from L-PRF at one day, three days, and seven days, samples were kept at 37◦C in the culture media to allow for growth factor release. Protein quantification was carried out using ELISA. At desired time points, FGF-2 was quantified using prepared ELISA kit according to manufacturer protocol. Absorbance was measured at 450 and 570 nm using a micro plate reader and t...

In Saudi Arabia, the demand for intensive care units (ICUs) is growing rapidly, partly due to the high levels of road trauma and a population increase. In response to these issues, the government has increased the number of ICU beds in some public tertiary regional hospitals. A corresponding increase in patients and a shortage of specialized nurses has major implications for nurses’ ability to provide quality care. In the Western world there is comprehensive literature related to research and factors that influence nursing care. To date, however, no such study has been conducted in an ICU in Saudi Arabia. The purpose of this study was, therefore, to explore and describe factors that influence nursing care in a Saudi Arabian ICU. Additionally, since clinical governance has been described as a structured system for promoting quality care and health servic...

Islamic Ramadan is a 28 - 30 day fast in which food and drink are prohibited during the daytime hours. Most health-specific findings related to Ramadan fasting are mixed. Ramadan fasting causes many physiological changes like biochemical, metabolic and spiritual changes in the human body. Ramadan Fasting increases the White Blood Cells (WBCs) Red Blood Cells (RBCs), Blood platelets (PLT) count, High Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol (HDL-c), and decreases the blood cholesterol, triglycerides, Low Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol (LDL-c) and Very Low Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol (VLDL-c). During Ramadan fasting there are reductions in body mass index, body weight, waist circumference, body fat, blood glucose, diastolic and systolic blood pressure and on levels of anxieties. Among healthy adults, there are no adver...

Some of the sources of pesticide residues in food include pesticides used on crops and left in produce, or pesticides used to clean dwellings. Both sources are possible sources. Pesticide residues in the body may trigger several acute and chronic disorders. However, continuous worldwide pesticide usage may harm human and ecological health. To go ahead, the first step is to remove as many pesticides as possible. As a result, it is crucial to clean food items of any traces of pesticides to lessen people's exposure to these chemicals. Emerging approaches, such as sonolytic ozonation, disinfection strategies alternative to chlorine, ozone treatment, and nanopesticides, have been discussed in this review that could be used to minimize the residues in the food items. This review's main objective is to highlight the most recent advancements and breakthroughs in the use of numerous novels developing strategies for the potential removal of pesticides from food products.
