The dominant position of Western policy was the preservation of Yugoslavia and the maintenance of geopolitical stability. In the second half of 1991, under the influence of the war in Croatia, Western policy slowly turned towards the possibility of the disintegration of Yugoslavia and the recognition of the independence of Slovenia and Croatia. The article analyzes the American and British newspaper narratives about the war in Croatia during the five-month peak of the conflict, from September 1991 to January 1992. The analysis was conducted on four daily newspapers, two American (The New York Times, Los Angeles Times) and two British (The Independent, The Guardian). A total of 920 texts were analyzed through coding based on the adoption of a pro-Croatian, pro-Serbian, or neutral position. The research shows that more texts about the war in Croatia were published in the analyzed British newspapers. Secondly, the narrative is significantly marked by a neutral stance, which coincides with the unclear and undefined policy of the West towards the Yugoslav crisis. Thirdly, there were significantly more pro-Croatian than pro-Serbian texts in the analyzed period.

Together they have edited their book named Migration, Refugees and Human Security in the Mediterranean and MENA. The book has been published by Palgrave Macmillan, whose registered company is Springer International Publishing AG, based in Cham, Switzerland. It represents years of studying the causes and consequences of migration and its correlation with human security. Furthermore, it approaches the problems of migration and refugees from multiple viewpoints. The book consists of three parts. The fi rst two parts have three chapters each, while the last has four. The fi rst part is titled "Migration, Refugees and Human security in the Twenty-First century". The fi rst chapter of the book called "Introduction: Migration, Refugees and Human Security in the Mediterranean and MENA", written by professor Christie, deals with the theoretical aspects of human security, migration, and the (un)involvement of countries in such matters. It emphasizes the objective of this book, which is to explore in what way the concepts of migration, human security and the question of refugees are intertwined in the socio-political area of the Mediterranean and MENA. The second chapter "Death of the Refugee: The Silence of Numbers", written by Negis Canefe, grapples with the migration policies of select countries from the Middle East, with the emphasis on the Syrian refugee crisis and its consequence on human lives. The policies of Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, and Turkey are explored. The chapter gives a clear overview of the accomplishments, failures and struggles of said countries. It is also important to note, that the author states how Turkey, albeit of its own reason, is the only one out of these countries, that considers Europe as its partner in these matters. This chapter is a must read to anyone who wishes to understand the migration policies of the countries in the MENA region.

Since 2001 and the attacks on September 11, terrorism has gained a global impact. Terrorism today threatens the safety of individuals more than ever. In order to combat terrorism, countries around the world have adopted various counter-terrorism strategies. The United Kingdom is one such country. Thorugh the analysis of the United Kingdom's counter-terrorism strategy, it's laws and decisions from both domestic and international courts, the authors of this article aim to determine whether counter-terrorism is a sustainable measure or a violation of human rights in the United Kingdom.
