There are six domains of NTC for engineers: a) Professional ethics competences; b) Personal competences; c) Interpersonal competences; d) Leadership, management, and administrative competences; e) Innovation and entrepreneurial competences; and f) Law and legal system competences. Analysing the correspondence between NTC use in everyday professional work, and NTC competences developed in university study indicated several gaps. Supporting engineers’ Personal competences up to the highest level is especially important as these are used on a daily basis. Young engineers entering the workforce also need extra training to develop their Interpersonal competences.

In order to get an overview how deep is the gap be¬tween academic knowledge and everyday truths regarding personnel management we carried out the study in two phases. In the first phase we interviewed outstand¬ing Estonian personnel managers as an expert group, and the second phase inter¬viewed personnel professionals and non-HR professionals from different occupa¬tions (engineers, bookkeepers, lawyers, civil servants, and teachers). We explored issues of knowledge in the field by look¬ing at the levels of agreement regarding the quality of research evidence in Work and Organizational Psychology (WOP). The study revealed that the work done in many personnel management fields is based on similar myths that exist among non-personnel professionals.

There were significant mean differences across samples on all five of these measures, and consistent with our hypothesis, at the ecological or sample mean level well-being was associated with an internal locus of control. However, contrary to our hypothesis, well-being was not associated with I-C, despite a strong correlation between I-C and LOC. Findings at the ecological level were consistent with the literature concerning the salutary effects of control on well-being.

There is evidence that graduates do not fully perceive and/or underestimate the influence of non-technical competences on their employability. An understanding of the necessity of non-technical competences develops after a graduate has already been hired and is working at that job.

In particular, the paper addresses the evidence-based aspects of occupational stress in technical university academics. The novelty of the online system is in multiple-choice approach considering both primary and secondary level stress interventions. The users have a possibility to get information about their own stress level and about the specific occupational stressors by using stress test (AcadOSI), to learn coping with stress by using digital teaching tools and sources of relevant information, and finally the users receive video-based instructions for better coping with most intensive sources of stress. In academic life it means the occupational stress management trough better workflow planning, personal work-life balance activities, evaluating the necessity of bureaucracy in university, enhancing relationships with students, peers and management, and working on constant professional development.

We strive to merge the experience obtained in modelling and analyzing cyber-physical-social systems and the results published on situation awareness. For that, we develop a reasonably simple and efficient monitoring framework that enables to capture and analyze heterogeneous dynamic phenomena in a country. The final goal is to build a model for comprehensive situation awareness, which merges information from a feasible set of interoperable models, describing operation of country’s major institutions; and provides situational information for decision-makers at all required levels.

The results of the discussion are merged under the name of comprehensive situation awareness (CSA) model, which is a conceptual presentation of the situation awareness (a snapshot). For using CSA in on-line control of the situation we need to create a stream of such snapshots.
