Cyber-security is the dire need of today which helps prevent or defend the systems from cyber-attacks. Distributed Ledger Technology like Blockchain with its various properties and advantages opens many opportunities for its use in the cyber-security domain and mitigating the associated risks. These technologies remove the need of any central trusted party or authority, which would facilitate recording and tracking of resources. This paper focuses on the use of Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) in the field of Cyber-security. It focuses on the discussion of new distributed ledger technology IOTA, its features and working. This paper also focuses on one of the uses of the IOTA Tangle technology, which provides a solution for securing logs of a system. As the logs of a system are the most important evidence in the investigation phase of Cyber-Forensics, thus preserving the logs securely and maintaining their integrity is mandatory. Later in this paper, the use of IOTA is demonstrated for securing the logs of a system.

CSP provides application, infrastructure, and/or software. Cloud user demand for a service to the CSP via the internet which is accounted on a pay-per-usage basis. Resource allocation related parameters are optimization, cost efficiency, security, quality of service (QoS), reliability, compatibility, efficiency, and delay. In this survey, we have reviewed resource allocation algorithms and mechanisms used by researchers in the recent past and classified these techniques according to the parameters considered in the approach. According to the survey, we noticed that few parameters are well addressed by many of the researches while some are yet not much investigated. The survey will guide the researchers to achieve more vision in the field of resource allocation for IaaS in Cloud Computing.

The Distributed Ledger Technology like Blockchain also opens a wide range of opportunities, and it proves to be one solution for overcoming multiple issues. This paper highlights the use of Blockchain technology in the field of Internet of Things (IoT) and its practical limitations. The paper focuses on a new distributed ledger technology based on Directed Acyclic Graph(DAG) approach called IOTA, its working and features are discussed in detail. IOTA technology can overcome the practical limitations of classical Blockchain, and the implementation of IOTA for secure transferring of IoT sensor data is also discussed.

Agricultural crops generate considerable amounts of leftover residues, with increases in food production crop residues also increasing. These leftover residues exhibit not only resource loss but also a missed opportunity to improve a farmer’s income. The use of crop residues in various fields are being explored by researchers across the world in areas such as textile composite non-woven making processes, power generation, biogas production, animal feed, compost and manures, etc. The increasing trend in addition of bio-energy cogeneration plants, increasing demand for animal feedstock and increasing trend for organic agriculture indicates a competitive opportunity forcrop residue in Agriculture. It is to be noted that the use of this left over residue isoften not mutually exclusive which makes measurement of its economic value more difficult. For example, straw can be used as animal be...

One major predicament every dementia patient has to endure revolves around him/her getting stranded in the middle of the road, not even knowing how to track his/her way to their residence. The paper emphasises the role of an all-in-one device which will monitor the patient’s location, show them the path back home, alert their caretaker or family members in an emergency situation and remind them of their daily tasks. The proprietary algorithm developed, the hardware and software architecture implemented has been discussed in detail. The system developed is an all-in-one solution which is intuitive and cost-effective, straightforward to use and requires minimal energy (long battery life).

It is an issue of global concern and threatens productivity of land, water, biodiversity, ecology, economy, and people. India, with 2.4% of global land area, is homeland for around 18% of global human population and 30.4% livestock population, supporting more than 8% of world’s agriculture with more than 69% area falling under drylands. The blend of high population, high agriculture production and diverse agro-climatic conditions results in excessive pressure on resources. This study is an attempt to access land degradation vulnerability considering human-induced factors, biophysical and climate parameters. Hierarchy-based indexing method is used for analysis using geospatial technique. Study reveals that around 67% of the land area falls under high vulnerability, and 27% area falls under moderate vulnerability. The outcome was further compared with MODIS land surface temperature and normalised difference vegetation index data for validation and is observed that more than 85% area under moderate–high vulnerability is related to increase in surface temperature and/or no-change in vegetation index; this area also falls under low NDVI value range (< 0.3), indicating vulnerable to land degradation. The outcome is useful for stakeholders in understanding the issue and for preparing action plans for combating land degradation.

Now-a-days, it is not only a question of providing enough vegetables for a balanced diet, but also to produce quality vegetables throughout the year. The present per capita availability of vegetable in India is only 210 g against the requirement of 300 g/capita/day (Saravaiya et al.). The crops grown in open conditions are often exposed to varying levels of temperature, humidity, wind flow etc., which ultimately influence the productivity as well as quality of a crop extensively. Further, with globalization of markets and global climate change, protected cultivation along with special horticultural practices emerged as the single most important technology for ensuring high productivity, improved quality and lucrative return.

Since the materials used in fluorescent lamps are good photo luminescent materials, if one can either use the inherent defects present in the phosphor or add suitable modifiers to induce thermoluminescence (TL) in these phosphors, then the device (fluorescent lamp) can be used as an accidental dosemeter. In continuation of our search for a suitable phosphor material, which can serve both as an efficient lamp phosphor and as a good radiation monitoring device, detailed examination has been carried out on cerium and terbium-doped lanthanum phosphate material. A (90)Sr beta source with 50 mCi strength (1.85 GBq) was used as the irradiation source for TL studies. The TL response as a function of dose received was examined for all phosphors used and it was observed that the intensity of the TL peak vs. dose received was a linear function in the dose range 0.1-200 Gy in each case. Incidentally LaPO(4): Ce,Tb is a component of the compact fluorescent lamp marketed recently as an energy bright light source. Besides having very good luminescence efficiency, good dosimetric properties of these phosphors render them useful for their use in accidental dosimetry also.
