Accordingly and since spiritual intelligence training can affect to resolve fundamental issues and enhance individuals' adaptability, therefore the aim of this study was to determine the effect of spiritual intelligence training on the anxiety of medical sciences students. Materials & Methods In this randomized clinical trial in 2016, 50 students from Yasuj and Larestan Universities of medical sciences-Iran were selected using purposive sampling method and divided into intervention and control groups with the equal members through random block allocation of 4. While the control group did not receive any intervention, the spiritual intelligence training accomplished for the intervention group. At the beginning of the study and one month after intervention, the trait and state anxiety of students were measured using Spielberger state-trait anxiety inventory. Data were analyzed using SPSS 21 software, through Chi-square test, independent t-test, and paired t-test. Findings At the beginning of the study, there was no significant difference between the intervention and control groups regarding the amount of the trait and state anxiety (p>0.05). One month after the intervention, the amount of the trait and state anxiety in the intervention group was significantly less than these amounts in the control group, as well compared to these amounts at the beginning of the study (p<0.05). Conclusion The spiritual intelligence training causes a decrease in the trait and state anxiety of medical sciences students.

This research investigated whether narrative-based interventions in the school context can increase children's emotional intelligence (EI). It tested three intervention settings' effect in their oral and written narrative elements: 1) oral co-narration, 2) literary narrative, and 3) Merging co-narrating and literary narrative. The sample consisted of 91 female Iranian students (age = ±12), who were selected randomly to these three intervention groups where they received a two-month training and one control conditions with treatment as usual. The Emotional Quotient inventory, the youth version (EQ-i: yv) test, was used to measure the students' EI levels before and after the intervention. The results demonstrated that oral and written narrative have different effects on student’s EI. The results revealed a significant increase in th...

An integrated analysis was made of data on suicide attempts (nonfatal and fatal) from studies carried out in the Islamic Republic of Iran from 1981 to 2007. Of 54 published studies concerning suicide, 48 (covering 26 768 cases of attempted suicide) satisfied the inclusion criteria. The weighted mean rate of suicide attempts was 26.5 per 100 000 and the average rate of death by suicide was 6.7 per 100 000. The mean age of suicide attempters was 25 years; on average 41.8% were male, 50.5% single and 70.0% from urban areas. Most suicide attempters were not working: 54.2% on average were housewives, 24.5% students and 21.0% unemployed men. Medical history showed that 16.2% of suicide attempters had a history of disability and 42.0% had a history of psychological disorders. The rates were compared with studies from other nations/religious groups.

The PCOSQ has previously been translated and validated in Iran but no studies had examined the psychometric properties of the MPCOSQ in Iran. study design, size, and duration: This was a cross-sectional study. After linguistic validation of the Iranian version of MPCOSQ, an expert panel evaluated the items by assessing the content validity index (CVI) and content validity ratio (CVR). Then a semi-structured interview was conducted to assess face validity. Consequently, exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) were performed to indicate the scale constructs (n ¼ 200). In addition, reliability analyses including internal consistency and test-retest analysis were carried out. participants/materials, setting, and methods: This study was carried out on women with PCOS (n ¼ 200) who attended two private gynecology clinics in Kashan, Iran. Patients were eligible if they met each of the following criteria: 15-40 years of age; married; not having non-classic adrenal hyperplasia, thyroid dysfunction and hyperprolactinemia; Iranian; not having problems in speaking or listening; having two of the following Rotterdam diagnostic criteria: (i) polycystic ovaries visualized on ultrasound scan (presence of 12 follicles or more in one or both ovaries and/or increased ovarian volume .10 ml), (ii) clinical signs of hyperandrogenism (the hirsutism score based on the Ferriman-Gallwey score .7 or obvious acne) and/or an elevated plasma testosterone (normal range testosterone ,2 nmol/l), (iii) having an interval between menstrual periods .35 days and/or amenorrhea as the absence of vaginal bleeding for at least 6 months, i.e. 199 days. main results and the role of chance: CVI and CVR scores for MPCOSQ were 0.96 and 0.92, respectively. A six-factor solution (emotional disturbance, weight, infertility, acne, menstrual difficulties and hirsutism) emerged as a result of an EFA and explained 0.64% of the variance observed. The result of the EFA supported the item 'late menstrual period' being placed in the menstrual rather than the emotional subscale. The results of the CFA for six-factor model for MPCOSQ indicated an acceptable fit for the proposed model. Additional analyses indicated satisfactory results for internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha ranging from 0.76 to 0.92) and intraclass correlation coefficients (ranging from 0.71 to 0.92). Moving 'late menstrual period' from the emotional to the menstrual subscale significantly improved the reliability coefficient for both subscales. limitations, reasons for caution: Study of patients with PCOS attending two private gynecology clinics may limit generalization of the findings to the entire population with PCOS. All patients in this study were married for cultural reasons in Iran. Therefore, the results of the present study have to be interpreted with some caution.

This study aimed to determine the most important factors related to preterm labor in Yasuj, Iran. Method: This case-control study was conducted in the maternity ward of Imam Sajjad Hospital, the obstetrics and gynecology center of Yasuj, in 2010. Among eligible samples, mothers with preterm labor were selected as the case group, and for each sample in the case group, one mother with full-term labor was selected by using clipper-matched sampling to make up the control group. Data were collected by a researcher-made questionnaire and the 28-item General Health Questionnaire. Finally, after deleting imperfect questionnaires, collected data of 52 subjects of case group and the same amount in control group were analyzed. Results: Among the 5400 live birth infants in Yasuj in 2010, 130 infants were premature (2.4%). The preterm labor risk in women with two or more pregnancies was 5.5 times more than women with less than two pregnancies, its risk in women with low general health status was 2.9 times more than in women with normal general health status, and the preterm labor risk in women with a history of diabetes mellitus/thyroid dysfunction/cardiac disease was 2.3 times more than healthy mothers (P 0.01). Conclusion: With respect to the above and due to the role and importance of mother-infant health in community health, it is necessary that the health-care system improve health education with regard to the appropriate number of pregnancies, diagnose and cure disease during pregnancy, especially diabetes and cardiovascular disease (hypertension and/or eclampsia), and recognize pregnant mothers with mental pressure or lack of sufficient support and help them.
