Demonstrating selected environmental problems, the authors present how crime against the environment negatively affects implementation of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The authors also indicate the cultural determinants that play an important role in the origins of crime against natural heritage. Based on selected examples, including the United Nations Education for Justice (E4J) initiative and other educational programmes aimed at youth, the authors emphasise the importance of promoting a culture of lawfulness in terms of preventing crime against the environment.

It is one of the innovative issues analyzed within the framework of ecocriminology — a new field of criminology that has been dynamically developing since the beginning of the 20th century. The issue is analysed from a national, regional and global perspective. The authors of the study analyse and synthesise the scientific achievements of ecocriminology to date, with particular emphasis on criminal problems related to climate. It should be stressed that research in this area has so far been undertaken almost exclusively in the Anglo-Saxon criminology circle. The gap in the Polish criminological literature is filled by the representatives of the Olsztyn School of Ecocriminology. At the same time, the authors of the article try to answer the question whether there are relations between climatic and weather phenomena and criminal and pathological behaviour. In the opinion of the authors, ecocriminological research m...

Within its framework, the issue of the so-called wars for water, i.e. various types of problems related to the claims of states, social groups and individuals for access to water intakes, was taken up. This is undoubtedly one of the innovative issues analysed within the framework of ecocriminology. The title issue is analysed from national, regional and global perspectives. Its protection and preservation for future generations has attracted the interest of researchers representing multiple academic fields, including criminologists2. In the general view of criminal offences, crimes involving trafficking protected species of fauna and flora are less significant and less harmful for the society than other forms of organized cross-border crimes, such as narcotics, human or arms trafficking3. This paper attempts to demonstrate that the socalled CITES crimes, contrary to popular belief, pose an increasing serious criminal threat, bringing significant profits for criminals. Additionally, it presents a general description of the illegal market of protected flora and fauna species in Poland, from the green criminology perspective. The author of the study sets the following research aims: diagnosin...

Within the introductory issues, basic terms related to the subject matter are defined. The main part of consideration is devoted to description of the most valuable elements of the region’s material cultural heritage, such as castles, palaces and nobile manors. The particular attention is paid to presentation of pathological phenomena directed against monuments in the historical and contemporary perspective. A contrario the positive examples of revitalization of monuments of Warmia and Mazury are also pointed out. A dogmatic and legal analysis of the provisions of the law on conservation of monuments in the context of the destruction and damage of monuments are also made. The conclusions indicate the contemporary threats to the cultural heritage of the region and the possibilities of counteracting them.

They present the legal definition of criminal acts of vandalism. The paper begins by pointing out selected etiological factors. The main focus of the paper is on the phenomenology of vandalism of monuments. In this part, the specific forms of monument vandalism which appear very often in northeastern Poland (Warmia, Masuria, Podlasie) are characterised. Furthermore, the paper presents the phenomenology of issues such as: ideological vandalism, vandalism of archaeological monuments, vandalism by omission, and vandalism of cultural landscape. By confronting linguistic and doctrinal definitions of vandalism with the phenomenon as it occurs in practice, the authors create their own definition of the vandalism of monuments.
