We associate the notion of „a child in the world of education” with a small child’s perspective on the surrounding reality as organized by adults according to their traditions and needs. We refer here to the world imposed by adults, as seen by small children.

The first part focuses both on the teacher training as carried out in various European countries according to the Eurydice report prepared for the European Commission in 2013, and on the notion, presented by Sylvia Yee Fan Tang, of the dynamics of students' turning to teachers. The second part demonstrates the author's own research. The participants were students of the Social Science Faculty at the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn. The interpretation of the results is informed by Robert Kwaśnica's two rationalities theory. The results demonstrate both the students' attitude of entitlement and their adaptive thinking (rationality) as far as the preparing for the job is concerned. On the other hand, the results also show the participants' emancipation rationality, which manifests itself in their constructive, though not thoroughly supported, suggestions pertainin...

I provide arguments for the need to care for the quality of education and the need for continuous teacher education. I draw attention to the David Clarke’s and Hilary Hollingsworth’s Correlation Model of Professional Development of Teacher, useful in this regard, and to the European context of solutions in this field. In the further part of the study, I consider the education philosophy of early school education teachers, citing for example Potulicka’s critical views on the neoliberal American philosophy, and providing a different approach of Bay Area Teacher Training Institute (BATTI) (also American), which assumes that the philosophy of teachers education is closely related to the philosophy of education. The second part of this article presents my own qualitative...

W pierwszej części opracowania przedstawiam poglądy autorów reprezentujących dwa przeciwstawne podejścia w tym zakresie: tzw. estetyków i praksjalistów, pokazując jednocześnie, z jakich nurtów filozoficznych je wywodzą. Następnie omawiam różnice między prezentowanymi stanowiskami w zakresie filozofii edukacji muzycznej, po czym przechodzę do przedstawienia autorskiej propozycji kompromisu między dwoma stanowiskami. Zastosowana metoda to krytyczna analiza tekstów. Kompromisowe rozwiązanie, zwane przeze mnie estetyczno-praksjalnym, proponuję zastosować jako filozoficzne założenia wczesnej edukacji muzycznej.

I provide arguments in favour of the need to care about the quality of education and continuous professional improvement of teachers. I draw attention to David Clarke and Hilary Hollingsworth’s Correlation Model of Professional Teacher Development, helpful in this aspect, and to solutions applied in this area in Europe. Furthermore, I consider the philosophy of early education teacher training, citing for example Potulicka’s criticism of the American neoliberal philosophy, and providing an example of a different approach (also American), developed at the Bay Area Teacher Training Institute (BATTI), which assumes that the philosophy of educating teachers is closely connected with the philosophy of education. Commenting critically on the decision made by the Ministry of National Education, the author emphasises, firstly, that academic research lends no support to it, and, secondly, that the decision was made without consulting either academic experts or children’s parents, so that it manifested a complete disregard for democratic norms on the part of both the politicians involved and those who planned the reforms. The author shows just how dysfunctional the reforms have proved to be by pointing to research which reveals that neither school institutions, nor teachers themselves, have been properly prepared for educating six-year-olds. Furthermore, reasons are given for why children aged six should be educated as part of the pre-school education system. The author emphasizes that preschool institutions guarantee these children social, emotional, material, and o...

In the first part of the paper I present theoretical foundations and exemplary studies of the creativity of children aged 4–9. In the empirical part I present results of the study of plastic and literary art of third-graders (age 9–10), undertaken under infl uence of music. In the study the method of observation and analysis of products were applied. The results show that children’s creativity bears features of an intellectual activity and it is saturated with children’s experiences, which is demonstrated by the adequate titles of their literary and plastic art works as well as by the descriptions of the music flow.

An outline is provided of the theoretical foundations of the problem, starting with its definition and presentation of giftedness models. It then discusses the functioning of gifted students in the perspective of other authors. This study aims to examine the performance of a gifted student in a class in the selected state primary school, based on the perception of teachers, parents and the child in question. The study uses the qualitative strategy and the interpretational approach. Gifted students (six cases) were nominated by their form teachers. Empirical data collected during free-form and unstructured interviews were subjected to a qualitative analysis. By arranging the data from interviews with parents, teachers, and gifted students themselves, a picture was constructed of their functioning. To do that, metaphorical categories of gifted students were separately...
