With the proliferation of smart mobile devices and the development of technology, applications for these devices have also become widely known. There are millions of free or paid mobile applications available to download and the publishers compete each other for the greatest prevalence in the app stores, since improved rankings in app markets affect highly the sustainability of the mobile apps. This leads to the need for App Store Optimization (ASO) in order to improve or maintain their ranking position. Beyond that, ASO also refers to the processes that convert app views into downloads to users’ mobile devices, procedures defined by the term “Conversion Rate Optimization” (CRO). This paper aims to perform a literature review of criteria that affect the app’s optimization in the stores and to highlight the main factors that contribute to the ranking of an application in the app markets’ search results. In order to achieve this goal, a collection and analysis of academic papers were conducted. Our research identified that ASO can be achieved through the keyword optimization process and through the improvement of the conversion rates. It has been shown that the main traits of an app that affect its ranking are the number of downloads, the reviews and the ratings. Simultaneously, the importance of mobile app advertising is highlighted as it helps to increase users’ reach and app’s popularity which activates better rankings in the app markets.

In addition, over the last years, companies have invested in Search Engine Optimization (SEO) techniques by applying the factors used by search engines, such as Google, in order to rank amongst the first results in Search Engine Results Pages (SERPs). On-page factors such as the implementation of keywords in the title tags and the website loading time are amongst the criteria that are taken into consideration and are directly affected by the website’s technology and WCMS. Following a relevant literature review, the authors conducted research amongst 6682 websites in order to identify whether and which WCMS is used by SEO experts’ websites that appear in the top search results. Findings indicated that custom made websites that do not rely on widely used WCMSs appear more frequently at the top of search results, while the Drupal CMS appears quite ...

The review covers 52 articles from peer review journals and international conferences, from 2010 to 2016. These 52 articles are classified in 5 distinct categories based on their: methodology of research, type of analysis, field of study, marketing objectives and social media type/ platform used. The findings of the study reveal which is the most used subcategory for each classification, trends and tendencies. This review provides a base classification for researchers and an editable and continuously augmenting typology for further research in the area.

The empirical study is operationalized in a sun-andsand tourism destination of a Greek region. Given the reported multidimensionality of the construct, and the critic on the psychometric properties of previously defined scales measuring tourism destination image, this study examines the applicability of a new scale and provides empirical evidence to propose an alternative component structure for the formation of cognitive tourism destination image. Our analysis suggests four image dimensions: (1) must-be conditions (2) attractive conditions, (3) appealing activities, and (4) natural environment. Implications are discussed.

Whilst the former concepts are related to knowledge and learning outcomes, digital intelligence is about the new way of thinking (particularly visible to young people) that is developing in the continuously expanding digital environment. Understanding and further investigating digital intelligence will help to establish better and more appropriate, for the demands of the digital era, frameworks of digital competence. This study proposes that measuring digital intelligence should comprise computational thinking tests, as well as tests that could be used to assess digital use and behaviour. In the context of that, a number of students at senior high schools of the Regional Unit of Thessaloniki, Greece, were tested regarding their computational thinking and their digital use and behaviour. The most interesting results are: (i) the average score of students increases as the level of education of their parents increases, and (ii) there is a statistically significant positive relationship of the students' aggregate performance between computational thinking and digital use & behaviour, implying that they are correctly considered components of the construct of digital intelligence.

The objective of this paper is to present the evolution of research, regarding the above fields, the study of metrics and indicators used, and the strength and weaknesses resulting from the current literature. Furthermore, the authors present the manipulation techniques for both fields as their main weakness, as well as further key points, analyzing the alternative options of bibliometrics and altmetrics. Design/methodology/approach First, the authors present the evolution of the literature, concerning the specific field and metrics used, following with a brief description of basic indicators related to the field of bibliometrics (journal impact factor (JIF), eigenfactor, article influence score and h-index) discussing their advantages and disadvantages. In the second part, the authors describe altmetrics and present...

In this setting, universities and organizations are forced to incorporate e-learning practices or optimize current interactive, multi-mediated, learning environments based on past experience and applications and new emerging digital technologies. This paper aims to specify the number of existing postgraduate e-learning programs in the areas of e-business, e-commerce and e-marketing worldwide by presenting their overall operation regarding dimensions such as program provider’s profile, target market characteristics and their strategy towards marketing mix variables. A study framework is proposed to analyze the above dimensions based on specific criteria and metrics. Within this study, the identification and analysis of competitive e-learning applications provide participating entities with necessary information regarding appropriate marketing strategies & tactics in ...

Based on previous literature, we propose the conceptual framework Start-Up Ecosystem (StUpEco) that highlights the contextual drivers of a start-up business affected by the entrepreneurial ecosystem entities involved within the quadruple helix model. Furthermore, the proposed framework is tested according to the perceptions of Greek start-uppers through an empirical survey. According to our findings, the start-uppers’ motivation is explained mainly through opportunity rather than necessity. The study identifies government issues, such as tax incentives and acceleration of starting procedures, availability of funding opportunities, connectivity of stakeholders, entrepreneurship education, previous start-up experience, incubator support, as well as mentoring, as the most significant issues affecting the successful development of start-ups.

It measured the components of Kavos' destination image. Data was collected with an aided self –completion questionnaire and data analysis included descriptive statistics (frequencies, percentages and means), reliability, and factor and cluster analysis. 18 destination components were rated on a 5-point Likert scale and continuously factor analyzed, producing 4 factors and accounting for 80.7% of the total variance. Segmentation based on factors produced 3 segments with N=32; 50 and 59 British tourists respectively and with Final Cluster Centers ranging from 3.03 to 4.60. This research has contributed to the theoretical gap of the tourism industry literature regarding destination image formation in the Mediterranean and specifically Greece. These results can be used as a basis for destination improvement and strategy formation.

As the majority of published research projects accentuate on private and mixed stakeholder alliances, this study is important in order to uncover the scope of collaborative activity among public sector organisations. The research approach adopted in this project includes the application of a case study in the heritage town of Plovdiv, Bulgaria. The findings provide evidence that public organisations need to realise the benefits of mutual marketing and promotion activities created in a local, regional and Internet-based context. The roles of the local airport, urban events, as well as the Internet should be recognised and used as a catalyst of tourism demand.

To keep up with the pace of change, companies increasingly want to understand the behavioral attitude of the modern mobile consumer. The aim of this paper is to find out users' reaction towards different parameters that would influence their intention to utilize their mobile devices in order to purchase products and services online focusing on the current Greek reality. The extant literature focuses on understanding the factors that might affect consumers' behavior intention to adopt m-shopping; these studies are mostly based on behavioral intention theories, such as Technology Acceptance Model, Diffusion of Innovation and Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology. In this study, new theoretical constructs are combined with existing evidence in order to extend the Technology Acceptance Model as it was initially established by Davis and later further enriched by other researchers. The proposed model includes behavioral intention, mobile skillfulness, enjoyment, anxiety, perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, trust, relationship drivers, and innovativeness.
