The purpose was to find out if the teachers were computer and ICT literate and to examine if they employ computers and ICT in their teaching activities. Eighty copies of a self designed questionnaire were administered to teachers in four secondary schools, out of which sixty eight was completed, returned and found usable. The study shows that the respondents are aware of the fact that being computer and ICT literate is very important in their profession. The paper concludes that the Government in conjunction with the Ministry of Education inculcates computer and ICT training into the curriculum of teacher training schools. Data collection instrument was a structured questionnaire which was administered at Nigeria Library Association (NLA) Cataloguing, Indexing and Classification Section workshop held in Makurdi, Benue State in year 2013, and method of data analysis was simple percentages. The study revealed that majority of Nigerian libraries (62.1%) were currently involved in exhibition and displays, 69% of libraries hold only physical exhibition, 45% frequently hold exhibitions between 3 -6 months while others (58.6%) lasted between 1 -4 weeks. The purpose of exhibition include: education, awareness, increased sense of aesthetic and promotion of available resources. Lack of exhibition policy (96.6%), lack of display equipment (93.1%), lack of formal training 86.2%, and inadequate resourcesmoney, space (82.8%) were identified as inhibitors to library exhibition and displays in Nigeria. Physical exhibition and display is predominant. There is a need to explore the use of electronic resources, social networking sites and the Internet for online exhibition. The management of Nigerian libraries should provide exhibition guidelines, display equipment and materials needed for mounting exhibition, training for exhibit librarians and library schools should incorporate exhibition into the curriculum.
The use of social network sites among library professionals in university libraries in Ogun State... more The use of social network sites among library professionals in university libraries in Ogun State, Southwest Nigeria is investigated. The study population consisted of seventy-eight librarians in four universities in the state. Questionnaires (which was the instrument for data collection) were administered to the entire population, out of which 55 (representing 70.5 % response rate) were filled, returned and analysed for the study. The study revealed that library professionals do make use of SNS. The most frequently visited SNS was Linkedln (58.2 %). The respondents also indicated that they visited SNS for the purpose of connecting and collaborating with friends and colleagues, carrying out current awareness and reference services to library users, etc. Majority of the respondents (94.5 %) in the study further revealed that the greatest challenge to the use of social network sites was lack of social media skills. The first hypothesis tested in the study indicated that there was moderate positive significant relationship between device used for internet access and use of social network sites (r=.408**, N= 55, p<.002.). The second hypothesis revealed that there was no significant relationship between gender and use of SNS (r = 0 .157, N=55, p >.05). The study was concluded with recommendations that library professionals should undergo training in social media skills.

This study was carried out to investigate the information needs and most preferred source of
information of undergraduate students in a Nigerian university of technology. Students in their second
and third years of study in the departments of Estate Management and Architecture both in the school of
Environmental Technology in Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) were surveyed. An
adopted questionnaire was used to gather data for this study. The questionnaire was randomly distributed to the students in these departments thereby giving equal opportunity of being selected as part of the survey. Two hundred and fifty seven (257) copies of the uestionnaire were distributed, two hundred and twenty (220) were returned but two hundred and three (203) representing response rate of 80% were found usable for data analysis. The result of the findings was analysed using simple percentages and is represented in charts. The study found out that the undergraduate students' information needs are mainly centred on academic and allied social issues, and they mostly preferred to use the Internet to address their information needs. It was recommended that the library put in place a 24 hour internet service so as to combat the challenge of having long queues at the media centre and
cyber cafes.
