Hence, a practical classification method based on density separation, elemental composition and optical characteristics, which discriminatingly identifies kerogens with indicutions of their hydrocarbon potential, has been developed. The methodfirst divides the whole range of kerogens into liptinite and humic groups. The liptinitic kerogens are subdivided into Hyperliptinites (prolific oil sources); Mesoliptinites (which are oil-prone); Metaliptinites (gas-prone); and Hypoliptinites (having no potential for hydrocarbons). The humic kerogens are similarly divided into subgroups consisting of Hyperhumics (with some gas potential); Mesohumics (mainly gas sources); and Hypohiimics (organic materials with no potential for hydrocarbon generation).

A theory developed by scientists to study nitrogen oxides, NO x , production by solar proton even... more A theory developed by scientists to study nitrogen oxides, NO x , production by solar proton events shows that the NO x production rate is approximately equal to the rate of production of ion pairs during the proton impact. Since the bulk of ionization in such events is produced by secondary electron impacts, the same concept is used here to study the NO x production in low pressure discharges, corona discharges and streamer discharges in which the source of ionization is the electron impacts. Using experimental data pertinent to corona discharges it is established that, as in the case of proton impacts, the rate of NO x production is approximately equal to the rate of production of ion pairs. The theory in turn is applied to study the NO x production in streamer and low pressure electrical discharges. The results show that the NO x production in low pressure discharges depends not only on the energy dissipated but also on the ambient pressure and the electric field. In low pressure discharges the efficiency of NO x production is given by k (p, E) / eE NO x molecules/J, where (p, E) is the Townsend's first ionization coefficient, p is the atmospheric pressure, e is the electronic charge, E is the electric field and k is the number of NO x molecules resulting during an ionizing event. This shows that the NO x production efficiency of a discharge depends not only on the energy dissipation but also on the pressure and the electric field. In the case of streamer discharges, the NO x molecules produced by the streamer in propagating a unit distance is given by k / 2 eE , where is the number of positive ions located in the streamer head.

The transport of particles with diameters in the range of 50 nm to 1 m in laminar free convection... more The transport of particles with diameters in the range of 50 nm to 1 m in laminar free convection of air in square enclosures was numerically investigated by an Eulerian-Lagrangian method. Two-dimensional square enclosures with widths from 2.5 mm to 5 cm, with two adiabatic surfaces and 100 and 200 • C temperature difference between the other two surfaces, were considered. The Rayleigh numbers varied from 100 to 8×10 5. The air flow was simulated in Eulerian frame using a commercial CFD software, whose predictions were compared with published benchmark results. Lagrangian particle transport calculations were carried out by tracking 1000 particles that were initially randomly distributed in the flow field, and assuming one-way coupling between the particles and the carrier gas. Particle motion mechanisms considered included gravity, drag, lift force, thermophoresis and Brownian dispersion. The results showed that at Rayleigh numbers lower than about 10 000 the entire flow field was dominated by a single recirculation pattern. For these low Rayleigh number cases most of the particles disperse towards the walls, while a fraction of particles were trapped in a quasi-steady recirculation zone. Inside this recirculation zone the particles were at quasi-equilibrium with respect to the hydrodynamic and dispersive forces that acted on them, and left the zone due to Brownian dispersion only at a very low rate. This quasi-equilibrium zone was not observed at the higher Rayleigh numbers where a single recirculation pattern no longer governed the entire flow field. The results also confirmed the important role of thermophoresis and Brownian dispersion, in particular for submicron size particles.

Only 26% of the respondents knew of AIDS and out of 13 basic facts concerning HIV/AIDS the mean score of the sample was 1.63 correct responses. Most of those who knew of HIV had some false beliefs about the mode of HIV transmission, for example, believing that HIV could be contracted by touching an AIDS patient, or sharing bathing facilities or eating utensils. Sex with brothel-based commercial sex workers (100%), sharing contaminated needles (93.6%) and blood transfusion from infected individuals (93.6%) were seen as the main route of HIV transmission. Printed media (69%) was the main source of AIDS information. Multiple logistic regression analysis showed that having a non-agricultural occupation (P < 0.04), being resident in Dhaka, Chandpur, Noakhali, Comilla, and Chittagong (P < 0.01), being in the habit of reading newspapers (P < 0.05), using condoms (P < 0.04), having heard about condoms (P < 0.003), having seen condoms (P < 0.005) and knowing where to buy condoms (P < 0.0005) were significantly associated with AIDS awareness. There is insufficient AIDS awareness among overseas job seekers which calls for public initiatives to provide AIDS information to them before they leave Bangladesh to work abroad.

The number of hits per event and the minimum space &stance of two hits is limited by the electronics This simple and cheap detector can be used where large area track location arrangements with multthlt recording are required

Previously, some research in chip control has been done using orthogonal cutting models, however the assumptions made in the models hardly satisfy most practical machining conditions in which the influences of tool comer radius cannot be ignored. The analytical and experimental research presented here deals with a three-dimensional model of chip flow, chip curl and chip breaking. Three features are considered: the geometrical feature, the kinetic feature and the mechanical feature. A set of equivalent characteristic parameters are defined and the relationship between the equivalent parameters and the machining parameters is developed. In addition to theoretical analysis for the equivalent parameters, some of the equivalent parameters are determined by experiment. Finally, a new criterion of chip breakage is given by using the developed model. It is shown that the predicted results agree reasonably well with experimental results.
