The policy of promoting Oymyakon and Verkhoyansk as tourist sites associated with the Poles of cold is varied according to the specific socioeconomic and cultural conditions. If Oymyakon is more promoted as the Pole of cold on the scale of international and regional tourism thanks to its infrastructure, Verkhoyansk keeps the reputation of the sacred place for the local population, but also of the place for scientific tourism and research. The cross-sector partnerships can be seen as powerful mechanisms for building constructive relationships between tourist companies and local communities and contributing to sustainable community development. The engagement of indigenous communities and their participation in all stages of the tourism development (concept, promotion and realisation of tourist products) contribute to achieve a more sustainable development of tourism in situ. In order to study the history and different aspects of polar belonging we analyzed a large number of scientific texts, literary, historical documents, legends, folklore, stories and blogs of travelers and tourists, but also the mapped and local toponyms, interview and questionnaires.

What are the language means, other than the epic formulas and well-studied clichés that help to represent the traditional image of the epic heroes in the chanson de geste? These questions are dealt with in this article, as well as the first seeds of individualization in epic men heroes’ portraits (attribution of certain characteristics to a hero; dissociation of qualities and their attribution to different characters; opposition of qualities etc.) and one development of the woman portrait which unfolds along two axes: lexical enrichment and detailed description of new elements.

The topic of the study is focused on an important marker and resource of identity that encompasses the landscapes of the North, its physical, geographical, natural, and climatic features, the integrated system of northern occupations and traditional practices—the domestic reindeer. This research also considers various cultural texts and personal and collective narratives of the “imagination” and “experience” of the cold space associated with reindeer in the construction and modern representations of the ethnicity of Indigenous Peoples of the North.

Learning a language from different positions, namely from the point of view of a cognitive approach, helps to study the person himself: his intellectual, mental, social, ethno-national components, his linguistic consciousness. Psycholinguistic and ethnopsycholinguistic studies of linguistic consciousness, the study of the image of the world of an ethnic group are a new integrated approach. This approach, used in our study, differs in that it is aimed at identifying the ethnocultural specifics of the linguistic consciousness of the Sakha language speakers.

As a result, the etymological analysis of toponyms of the territory under research allowed to reveal several layers of ethnic impact, as well as traces left by different ethnic groups in the course of exploration of the territory. Modern geographical sciences (human geography in particular) demonstrate interest in the nature of relations between humans and environment, and the problems of landscape ontology as a source of a wide range of socio-humanistic knowledge. Moreover, the issues of etymology of toponyms in the Yakut language have not been studied thoroughly, although it is a factor that reveals layers of knowledge on the history of peoples who have established long-term contacts with one another; problem of language and culture of the peoples or tribes who have influenced the formation of...

The difficulties of the first order which make obstacles for the translator are the realia and the notions charged with the specific connotations of the culture of the original text. The various possibilities of translation and transfer of cultural peculiarities linked to ethnic concepts and concepts are shown in the articles: the translation processes aiming to preserve the specific image such as transliteration, and on the other hand, the processes which " naturalize "objects of culture by means of the adaptation of foreign concepts for the receiving culture.

We hypothesize that changes in word order may correlate with deeper structural changes and la nguage shift. Th e experiments show that some speakers are shifting from Sakha to Russian: 4 from a sample of 30 speakers could not produce texts in Sakha, and one third of the sample produced sentences with some errors. At the same time, there were a signifi cant number of mistakes in the Russian production experiments, indicating interference from Sakha and/or imperfect learning. A sociolinguistic questionnaire showed a high level of accuracy between speakers’ self–assessment of their profi ciency in each of the target languages as measured by the experiments shown here. Moreover, the simple experiments themselves revealed a number of other production errors and proved to be a reasonable indicator of less than fl uent profi ciency and of ...

Nature of the North and the Arctic zone of Russia is not only the result of the natural evolution of the landscape, but also of the anthropisation over a long historical period. On the background of the development of the North and the Arctic territories of particular relevance is the experience of human-nature interaction and co-evolution. The significance of the project is driven by the inter and multidisciplinary approaches to the study of landscape, namely the widespread use of methods applied both in natural sciences (geography, physics, computer science, space technologies) and liberal arts (linguistics, folklore studies, semiotics, sociology, ethnography, archaeology, history, etc.).
