From a mesoeconomic approach, using Big Data resources and online e-commerce tools, the wood market was analyzed from the perspective of demand and online user activity. In terms of time scope, the research covered the period 2019-2021, including the pandemic year. Secondary data based on Google Ads and Google Analytics were analyzed. The study used selected open-source analytical tools, including Google Keyword Planner and Data Studio. The controversial hypothesis, which assumes that potential demand for wood and wood-based products shows a sustainable trend even under economic uncertainty, was verified. The findings were visualized and discussed. As a result, although the rationale for confirming the assumed hypothesis was not obtained. However, the results of the research proved to be interesting, out of the box. It turned out that the popularity and multi...

It appears that development programming based on traditional pro-competitive tools and actions is inadequate. This article identifies the chosen aspects of integrated rural development in Poland which refer to the cooperation between local governments aimed at territorial development and, in particular, the development of rural functional areas. An attempt is made to define an intermunicipal cooperation model based on the analysis of rural municipalities’ potential for development. The empirical research was conducted with the application of the Aggregate Indicator of Local Development defined for Polish local government units in the years 2008-2014, evaluated in 2018-2020. Conclusions and recommendations were made on the basis of the current status of knowledge, own research and the principles of descriptive economics.

For the purpose of the study conducted among the students of the Poznań University of Economics and Business on young people's attitudes, including their system of values, the empirical data obtained using a questionnaire were gathered and aggregated. As the result, factors exerting influence on the demographic attitudes of academic youth were assessed. This provided the basis for formulating recommendations with respect to the state's demographic policy.

Complement activation is associated with abnormal pregnancy in mice and humans. The aim of the present study was to explore the expression levels of complement components in maternal lymph nodes during early pregnancy in sheep. Maternal inguinal lymph nodes were sampled on day 16 of the estrous cycle, and days 13, 16 and 25 of gestation in ewes. Reverse transcription-quantitative PCR, western blotting and immunohistochemical analyses were used to detect the expression levels of complement components C1q, C1r, C1s, C2, C3, C4a, C5b and C9 in the lymph nodes. The results revealed that the protein and mRNA levels of C1q, C1s and C5b were enhanced during early pregnancy, and that C1r and C4a were upregulated at day 25 of pregnancy. The mRNA and protein levels of C2 and C9 peaked at day 16 of pregnancy, but C3 was decreased at day 25 of pregnancy. C3 protein was located in the subcapsular sinuses and lymph sinuses of the maternal lymph node. In summary, the present study detected changes in the expression levels of complement components in maternal lymph nodes, which may be associated with maternal immune regulation during early pregnancy in sheep.

Available e-banking services were analysed against the background of cybercrime threats. The research was conducted in the year 2019. In the spatial scope, it concerned Wielkopolska and the territory of the Konin County, which consists of 14 municipalities, including 5 urban-rural municipalities and 9 rural municipalities. Using the method of diagnostic survey, on a sample of almost 400 people invited to the study, the results were collected. The majority of respondents were rural residents. The survey questionnaire consisted of 22 closed questions and information data. Suggested answers were programmed according to a five-point Likert scale. The study used Pearson’s chi-square statistical test of independence, comparative and descriptive analysis. Calculations were performed in MS Excel. As a result, a relatively high level of interest in e-ban...

The competitiveness of the Polish forest and wood industry, in particular the wood market itself,... more The competitiveness of the Polish forest and wood industry, in particular the wood market itself, is determined by many factors which are shaping – to a various extent – its basic measure, i.e. a share of the industry or each of its sectors in the open international market. Due to a significant share of the wood industry in the generation of Poland's GDP, constant measurement and verification of this sector's competitiveness, both ex-ante and ex-post, seem to be of extreme importance. Next to a traditional research model, it is considered important and practical to include a new approach which takes into account the heritage of economic sciences, in particular one of new disciplines, i.e. mesoeconomics. A discussion on the mesoeconomic approach against the traditional model justifies the search for new analytic methods that would enable both a diagnosis of industry's competitiveness in international markets, including the emerging ones, as well as creation of efficient t...
