Data were collected from November 2017 to October 2019. During the study period, 89 avian species were recorded that belong to 32 families under 11 orders among which 8 (8.99%) species were common winter visitors, 3 (3.37%) were common summer visitors, 8 (8.99%) were resident migratory, 1 (1.12%) were rare resident and 69 (77.53%) were resident birds. Among the birds observed in the study area during the study period the highest number of birds was found to be insectivorous (41.57%), then the carnivorous (8.99%), then omnivorous, piscivorous and picio carnivorous (7.87%), then insecto frugivorous (6.67%), then frugivorous (5.62%), then frugio graminivorous (4.49%), then nectarivorous (3.39%), then graminivorous and molluscio carnivorous (2.25%) and insecto carnivorous (1.12%). The hight avian diversity (69.662%) was observed in Mithapur which is human inhabited area with crop lands and a lot of fruit trees and the lowest (32.584%) diversity was in Shree Rampur Bill and Kastogari Bill which has large water bodies. This study will be helpful to understand the status of birds in different season in the study area.

AC... more Activated carbon (AC) has been extensively utilized as an adsorbent over the past few decades. AC has widespread applications, including the removal of different contaminants from water and wastewater, and it is also being used in capacitors, battery electrodes, catalytic supports, and gas storage materials because of its specific characteristics e.g., high surface area with electrical properties. The production of AC from naturally occurring precursors (e.g., coal, biomass, coconut shell, sugarcane bagasse, and so on) is highly interesting in terms of the material applications in chemistry; however, recently much focus has been placed on the use of agricultural wastes (e.g., rice husk) to produce AC. Rice husk (RH) is an abundant as well as cheap material which can be converted into AC for various applications. Various pollutants such as textile dyes, organic contaminants, inorganic anions, pesticides, and heavy metals can be effectively removed by RH-derived AC. In addition, RH-de...

The analysis from employing Six Sigma and DMAIC indicated that the broken stitch and open seam influenced the number of defective products. Design of experiments (DOE) and the analysis of variance (ANOVA) techniques were combined to statistically determine the correlation of the broken stitch and open seam with defects as well as to define their optimum values needed to eliminate the defects. Thus, a reduction of about 35% in the garments defect was achieved, which helped the organization studied to reduce its defects and thus improve its Sigma level from 1.7 to 3.4.

The peri-urban area (area on the process of urbanization) cannot ensure a safe, sustainable natural habitat for its bird species. Aves are the most important groups of animal which have great ecological contribution (Graham 2004). There are about 9900 species of birds in the world of which 690 (380 residents, 209 winter visitors,11 summer visitors and 90 vagrants) are found in Bangladesh (Khan 2008). The term "peri-urban area" is a name given to the grey area which is neither entirely urban nor purely rural in the traditional sense; it is at most the partly urbanized rural area. Whatever definition may be given to it, it cannot eliminate some degree of arbitrariness (OECD 1979). The general impression about a peri-urban area reflects the view that it is in the nearly status to become a city with a tremendous impacts on its natural environment and biotic factors. At present the major portion of Birulia union, Savar is on the way to become a city. Effect of this urbanization process may lead a great threat to the existing bird fauna of this region. However, the main objectives of the present study were to record the existing species of birds of Birulia union, analyzing species fluctuation according to feeding habit, habitat and local status, to observe the anthropogenic threats on birds and its environment and to recommend few ideas for the future conservation of the present avifaunal groups in this area.

The results on labour productivity of factors show improvement in productivity of labour during specific post-reform period (1990-91 to 1999-2000) but during the present decade (2000-01 to 2008-09) of post reform period, labour productivity growth has been declined negatively. Using Translog Divisia approach under three inputs framework, the result on the overall productivity displays that total factor productivity growth has dramatically improved during post-reform period as compared to pre-reform period. The liberalization process is found to have favourable impact on total factor productivity growth. Comparative picture of strength, weakness, opportunity and threat definitely suggests that the realization of potential growth for Indian leather industry, though seems difficult, is not impossible. The industry certainly can achieve its potential provided efforts are made at the planning and policy level to ease its constraints. To put it in other words, Indian leather industry can meet the challenges of globalization if appropriate steps are taken by the state in a timely manner.

The importance and need for the research and development into medical and healthcare devices can never be overstated. In the 21st century, medical and healthcare devices play a more vital role in our lives than ever before. A wide range of materials are being used for producing numerous medical and healthcare devices for a variety of end use. In this manuscript, historical development of wound care dressings and products are reviewed. The characteristics and requirements of modern wound dressings are summarized. A core part is devoted to the description of the materials used in medical and healthcare devices. Selected synthetic polymers are listed with their applications in medical and healthcare devices. The advantages and limitations of fibres, metals, ceramics and composites are denoted. Textile structures are highlighted with their applications in medical and healthcare devices.

SFV can be zoonotically transmitted to humans who either work with or live commensally with NHP. We analyzed the blood of 45 Bangladeshi performing monkey owners (an ethnic group called the Bedey) for SFV infection. Surprisingly, a PCR assay failed to detect SFV infection in any of these participants. This is in contrast to our previously reported infection rate of about 5% among Bangladeshi villagers.

The normalized autocorrelation function (NACF) of the noisy speech signal is decomposed into a finite set of band-limited signals termed as intrinsic mode functions (IMFs) using EMD. The periodicity of one IMF is supposed to be equal to the accurate pitch period. A conventional autocorrelation based pitch period detection method is used to select the IMF with pitch period. The accurate pitch period is obtained from the selected IMF. The pitch estimation performance in term of gross pitch error (GPE) of the proposed algorithm is compared with recently proposed methods. The experimental results show that the EMD based algorithm performs better in pitch estimation of noisy speech.
