Palabras clave: actitudes negativas, personas trans, prejuicio sexual, prejuicio de género, ley de identidad de género Construction and validation of a Negative Attitudes toward Trans People Scale The study goal was to construct and psychometrically validate a negative's attitudes towards trans people scale (EANT) as an expression of prejudice against trans. Two interdependent sequential studies through questionnaires are reported, both rely on non-probabilistic samples: Study 1, involves 203 participants, mainly college students, addresses the construction and exploratory analysis of the EANT. Study 2, involving 408 participants assigned according to s ociodemographic quotes established by the national census in the general population, shows confirmatory factor analysis and external validation of the scale. A sole factor 9-item instrument, with acceptable internal consistency (α = .886) was obtained.

The standard of the essays included in this volume, then, is admirably high. One wishes only that the editors approached them with the care and sensitivity they deserved. It is no mean feat to introduce, edit, and organise a series of contributions on the devil, but Raiswell’s introduction shows itself rather tone deaf. The devil was only ‘a prickly bundle of contradictions’ (p. 33), ‘a roughly drawn image hiding in the visual noise of a poorly scraped palimpsest’ (p. 36), and ‘a being who is inherently contradictory, one whose very nature would cause him to collapse in upon himself’ (p. 41). In an epilogue the two editors carve up the devil into four variants or ‘quadrants’. They suggest that the devils who assailed the devout Francesca Buzza de’ Ponziani in Suzanne Scanlan’s chapter should be listed under the ‘God’s agent’ heading because their ultimate purpose was to fortify the oblates. Maybe. The only reason they should is because the oblates of Tor de’ Specchi decided to have them painted on their refectory wall. Their inclusion under this heading has little to do with the (imaginary) activities of the demons themselves. The demonic circle is not squared by quadrants. Ultimately, the marvellous chapters collected in this volume do not tell us much about the devil at all, but they shed a flood of light on the cultures which produced him. The editors would have done better to treat the devil as a window onto those societies, rather than attempt to separate devils that limit God’s power from those that do not. He who sups with the devil should have a long spoon.
Our study of the different biomaterials used in the construction of biological cardiac prostheses... more Our study of the different biomaterials used in the construction of biological cardiac prostheses has shown it to be of vital importance that the physical properties of the tissue and of the suture that anchors it to the rigid polymeric support are compatible. By means of dynamic tests, we have determined the fatigue curve in sutured bovine pericardial tissue, expressed by the equation log y = 1.27 ±0.18 − (0.26 ±0.05) log t, where y is the initial fatigue stress (MPa) and t is the time (min) it takes to achieve permanent deformation of the tissue. By applying this correction, we determine a set of values for stress-time which, when compared with those obtained with a non-sutured sample, reveal a significant fall in this ratio and, thus, a decrease in the durability. The use of suture threads of lesser elasticity than the pericardium may play an important role in reducing the durability of the bioprosthesis constructed with these materials.

This can be attained since, in coherent, OFDM, channel estimation is usually performed employing Pilot-Symbol Assisted-Modulation (PSAM), based on inserting known syrnhols in thc time-frequency grid. We show how this two-dimensional embcdded signalling can also be used for frequency synchronization, with no need of additional synchronization symbols which reduce the data-rate. The ML estimator has been derived, but also, a frequency-domain low-complex cstimator has been proposed, based on only the samples at pilot positions. Additionally, a novel decisionguided st,rategy is presented, working jointly with the channelestimation signalling and reducing the variance of the estimation considerably. Also, thc stability of thc schcmc is shown to get significantly bctter by avcraging over a fcw numbcr of OFDM symbols. This estimator is efficient against AWGN and multipath fading channels. Siniulation results demonstrate that the presented frequency offset correction scheme provides the accuracy required in practical applications for OFDM wireless syst, ems.

They concluded that environmental accounting is being used to``negotiate the conception of the environment'' by companies that have not significantly changed. In order to investigate whether Gray et al.'s model and conclusions apply to a different cultural context, we have conducted nine case studies in Spain. We found that Spanish organizations are not truly changing their conventional perception of the environment, even in those cases where generalized structural and organizational changes are taking place. Moreover, the use of environmental accounting is coupled with an attempt to negotiate and control the environmental agenda.
