His view brings together the late Plato and Aristotle: essences are potentials which the historical process actualizes and enriches both for all beings and for God as the ground of being. In his eschatology, his differential monism avoids the problems of strict teleological finalism and of a dualism between living beings and God. For Tillich, there is no unbridgeable gap between immanence and transcendence but a mutual bond of connection, interdependence and interaction. In love, the positive in creation and in history is brought into the Kingdom of God and fulfills justice for all beings.

Key Values The key values in ecclesiology are developments of (new) theories and presentation of new knowledge about the church, acquired by the larger academia, the churches, and the society. Conceptualization Nature/World The object of ecclesiology is not relational, for example, church and world but the study of the church per se. However, studies of nature and world are included in, for example, sacramental theology, integral in some ecclesiology. Recently, ecclesiology has also been engaged in studies in ecology.

We proceed from a new materiality perspective. The results are based on a study conducted in Sweden among 40 6- to 9-year-old children in two different classes in two elementary schools. A qualitative data-collection method was used involving text reading and movie viewing. In the present article, we begin with a theoretical discussion of the new materiality perspective before presenting our results. The findings show that children perceive togetherness, kindness, fairness and freedom as basic values for their own part and that they consider wealth and family to be basic societal values. There is a value differentiation going on in children’s thinking, a result of which is that some values step out as basic values for children. A map of values is construed that aims to explicate children’s value orientation.
