It, with the help of Anna Politkovskaya's excellent book "a small corner of hell" sheds light on the concentration camps, and civil rights abuses that the Russian government has perpetrated against the Chechen people.
Additionally, it also brings to light the perspective of the Chechen people who are caught between appeasing the Russian government and facing the brunt of of a group that denigrates everything they hold dear, the Chechen rebels (who they call "Wahabbi's"), or the alternate reality, pleasing the rebels and facing the full brunt of the Russian military. It finally discusses the transformation of those that would eventually become these rebels. It documents their transformation from freedom fighters in the early 1990's, to the criminals they are today.

Gained legally or illegally this funding can purchase equipment, help with logistics, and ultimately in the end determine the health and vitality of a terrorist organization in recruiting, organizational strength, and influence. In this paper I examine all of the various illegal means by which terrorist organizations funds themselves including drug trafficking, oil smuggling, and money laundering. Additionally this paper also covers the various Islamic banking strategies such as the hawala system in which money is seamlessly transferred from one member of an organization to another. I exam the annual amount of money that is transferred through these systems, compare them to the GDP's of developed nation states. Finally I discuss how terrorist resources can be transferred into other more fungible assets such as gold, diamonds and oil. Ultimately I come to the point that these practices can not be stopped, but only contained slightly.
